  1. Si's Godfather post my vote for post of the year so far.
  2. I love the irony of multi-millionaire Mike Ashley cracking down on the financial demands of greedy footballers btw.
  3. More good news then. Can Ryan Taylor play left and right back at the same time?
  4. Where do you get six million from?
  5. Do you reckon Tiote will leave this summer? If a sizable bid comes in then yes. Same goes for Colo and neither will still be here in twelve months time.

Fulham?? Careful Ian, you're in danger of sounding ambitious there. I often dream of being the most boring club in the division.
  7. If we do these good things, he'll sell off the best players in January and next summer though. Rinse and repeat.
  8. Depends on your definition of a decent season. For me it's Europe, or at least being in the top seven to give ourselves a chance. Anything less I don't consider 'decent'.
  9. How long will that excuse wash Nut? Are we going to hearing defence of Ashley in 2015, 2020 when he sells another top player and the money disappears because of 'wot Freddy did'?
  10. His comment also ignores the good times under Shepherd. There have been none under Ashley, nor will there be.
  11. How is that me saying everything was rosy? We were bottom half dross then and we're bottom half dross now.

In today's Chronicle claiming he has the same responsibilities as any Premier League manager.
  13. Ashley is not my club and never will be Ian.

Be a cold fucking day in hell before I think myself lucky that this shithead is manager of Newcastle.

Desire to play CL football makes it hard to keep him. Going to keep hoping he'll sign a new deal. Would be foolish to not have a backup plan if he does leave, which we do."

I don't know a single person who is happy that Pardew, Llambias or Ashley are at the club, not one. I don't doubt it, I was talking more about performances and results last season. Surely better than most recent seasons, and beyond expectations. Some of last seasons results were brilliant... before they sacked the manager and sold the best player in a six week period. Since then, it's been on a downward spiral. People tend to notice this sort of stuff. As I said, just have to agree to disagree about that. IMO, saying that the second half of last season was a "downward spiral" is going way to far. And this season all we've done is draw with Arsenal. Enrique leaving is a non-criticism for me, he just became too good for us at the same time as his contract was ending. These things happen if you aren't as high up the food chain as other clubs. That argument doesn't wash. He's gone to Liverpool who've shown bucketloads of ambition after Enrique was in the Newcastle team that gave them an arse-kicking last December. It's hardly light years apart, we were better than them mainly by virtue of having an unplayable striker in the team, now the opposite is true and he has watched it happen. It's fuck all to do with the food chain and everything to do with letting them nick our best player and pocketing the money. Do you think if we'd kept Carroll but Liverpool had still sold Torres and then bought nobody to replace him and nobody in the summer, that he'd still have gone there? Don't kid yourself because he wouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, I like this board but the feeling between the average poster and the average fan at SJP is often poles apart. Speaking to people at the Arsenal game, people are very fed up. How are the poles apart then? It's suicidal on here at times. Try going to the odd game then. There was brainless abuse directed at good players even when we were playing OK on Saturday. It's always been like that though, SJP is a very demanding place to play, just as bad for the home players as the away at times. Has been like that as long as I've been going. I genuinely thought normal people would be happier than people on forums who dissect the minute detail of Luke Edwards' latest tweet or the latest quote from Pardew. And I do go to the odd game BTW, cheers for the tip though. Must say, I find it thoroughly bizarre that you would think that people as a whole who go to the game and pay a lot of money to do so would be happier seeing the club run like it is than a community of whom a significant number don't go to games regularly or at all. Not a soopafan dig, just completely mind-boggling to me that anyone could have that view on the situation. It's like saying someone who watched the riots on telly would be more annoyed than the bloke who's just had his shop burned down. They're both annoyed but one's got a bit more reason to be. I see what you mean, I just meant that people who judge NUFC mainly based on what they do on the pitch would seem to have to be happier now than any time since the season we got relegated, and maybe the couple before that as well. Not happy compared to when we were in the Champions League obviously, but happier than in most recent seasons. That was before the club sold off several of its best players and pocketed the cash Ian. People are happy with gradual progression and at the very least, something to look forward to. There is very little to look forward to this season other than existing.

Same, I can't see why anyone would think he's even remotely under pressure TBH. Also, if he's as close to Ashley as everyone thinks then he won't be sacked anyway. What? Well no more than any other manager at the start of a season. We outperformed expectations last year, the only thing he's done wrong is allow Carroll and Enrique to leave, and he probably couldn't stop them anyway. Just can't understand how he's done anything other than a decent job, and as such he's under no pressure for me. The only thing he's done wrong? That and let us go into the new season with no real strikers, no left back, three centre halves...
