We are going backwards if we are no longer aiming to play European football. For all Shepherd's faults, that was his minimum ambition for the club, even if he didn't always achieve it (he did more often then not). European football is now above our maximum ambition, out of our reach, a pipe dream. It's pathetic.

I agree BUT, had we sold Routledge and not replaced him people would have cried about it, even though he would not really have kicked a first team football. I think they'll care about paying Tiote's wages for 10 weeks while he sits with his feet up at home. Does he live in Ghana like? what difference does it make where he lives? He won't be playing football, that's the point. It makes a difference that thanks to the club's shambolic organisation, one of our key players is stuck in limbo, away from home as it happens, not at home. Bet he's over the moon at this.
