  1. It is a joke. He has to lift players, coach them to a position where they can move up to the first team squad, decide the future of players at the end of the season whether they stay or go, and decide with Roeder the timing of players deemed ready to move up to the first team. At a club our size, with the importance of the position, it would be absurd for someone as inexperienced in coaching, handling and judging players as Lee Clark to be given the job. I don't think the Chairman is even bothered now, just keep the club alive until he gets his £100 million valuation. If memory serves me correctly, he's been coaching a local kids team since he was first with us. I remember reading about it in the old Black & White mag, forget which issue though (it was 10+ years ago). That doesn't mean I think he is qualified to do the job, but he has got experience No, I understand that. I think I meant to say 'at the highest levels', but I am happy to concede he does have experience. Whether some of the older players would respect that experience might be an interesting question though.
  2. Glenn Roeder: 'This is a good appointment for Newcastle because Lee is a bright young coach with a good future in the game.' Meh.
  3. Well that's just great that is. Glad we are finally going places again.

  5. Now I'm a bit hung over but are they saying that this restructuring was planned, and that the club was always going to be left with the three amigos heading all first team and reserve posts... ...or is this actually just a veiled statement telling us that Craig was indeed upset by promises made or hinted at after Souness left, and has walked? /oooh me head. bluedead.gif
  6. Nope, you're spot on. Not quite sure how that slipped my mind. blueyes.gif /alchohol damage no doubt. bluedead.gif
  7. Well it certainly went against his reportedly strict criteria. He didn't even scout the lad once in person to my knowledge, nevermind the numerous time he took over another foraign import namely Kuyt. Nevertheless, I cannot see much point being overly critical, just as I cannot see much point in those who are being overly protective of the lad.
  8. Wow. Drop our new £10,000,000, number 9, at home, and play an on loan player because of the oppositions defensive style? That would either show Roeder as having lovely large balls, or a complete lack of faith. Either way, I don't think there was much chance of that happening.
  9. No, I'll admit I was wrong there (though I never said he was two-footed, just that he had a decent right-foot) Fair enough, it wasn't meant as a dig and I hope Raconteur is right that it may just be a confidence issue. It would make a massive difference when he has the speed to get to the ball, to not have to stop and check back onto his left and lose any advantage that he might have just gained.
  10. Quick question to the considerable number of people who raved about how amazingly two footed Martins was. Do you still believe this to be the case?
  11. I'll happily exempt you then. My other points stand though. mr2j.gif
  12. What a joke the Sun is, TBH a few Newcastle fans will look at that and get on his back. Does it matter if they do? They won't have attended the game if they base their judgement from the Sun, so they are unlikely to again be there to show their disgust the next time around, will they?
  13. Not a criticism but it is striking that most of the initial comments were from people not at the match. Martins strikes me as a player who can certainly be of use to us, but I can understand the concern when our new number 9, a £10 million plus player fails to make much of an impact. Deal with the concerns, hope he does better and move on. It is harsh to judge a player either way this early on, and just as I cannot understand any vitriol sent his way (and I havn't seen any at the games I have attended), I equally cannot understand the need to fawn over him which seems to be the aim of this thread.
  14. Hull do it. It is a three year course unless you pay cash in advance.
  15. Best not to complain. Just bend over and take it, huzzah!
  16. This has 'SHEPHERD TROPHY SIGNING' written al over it tbh.
  17.   Oh fuck I fucking crying here!!!! No, really. bluecry.gif
  18. Aye, this forum is pathetic! Your defence of this signing is pathetic! Weee we can all do it!
  19. I'll give you a clue: He's shite. And no, he can't head a ball. Scored one headed goal that I can remember (Spectacular long range one to be fair). Also as slow as a 3 legged donkey running backwards in quicksand. Good pro to be fair, always worked hard and never complained about being played all over the place - or dropped - as he has been, completely, for every game this season. There will be much rejoicing in this part of the world if this is true. Sorry, but I burst out laughing when I read this. Don't worry, I think that reaction is almost universal.
  20. It's a coup I tell you. Fan fucking tastic signing, and well worth the months of scouting.
  21. That'll bring the average age down!
  22. Great signing. I'm off to shag a goat! http://www.eurosport.fr/football/tp_sto955233.shtml
  23. Attributing blame is fucking necessary in my humble opinion. If we are looking to compete, and we stay as we are, heads should roll.

So he looks for other targets then, no. Roeder was happy in his ignorance that we had never asked how much Kuyt was and still scouted him when he was on the cusp of signing for someone else. Is this kind of window shopping syndrome wholly Shepherds fault. Is it, my arse. A smokescreen possibly ? Roeder's admitted in the last few weeks that such tactics have been used this summer with regards to the media. A smokescreen? It's possible. I still have hope, and await the revelations. Come on ye bustards. headphonedance.gif
