He's probably not going to be fit, if he's not 100% i'd stick Hunty on him, let him to give him an knock early, probably would take him out of the game, he is fragile.

Agreed. Got absolutely nothing against the guy, like having him around as I do all fans of other clubs (as long as they don't act the twat as some have/do). Disagree with him on his views on Emre but it's just healthy discussion at the end of the day. I actually dont hold Emre in particularly high regard, but i'll defend him against an outsider mind! bluebiggrin.gif

You speak for everyone outside the N-E then do you? I know plenty of people who rate them. And I'm neither from the N-E nor have I ever lived there. Yes, of course I meant it absolutely literally, all, what, 53 million of them. Where did I say you did? I don't get what you meant. Who are these people who don't rate them? Errm, the bit where you suggested that I speak for everyone outside the NE, maybe? The point i was making was that in my experience, Emre and Parker are not seen as particularly special players. Turks rated Emre "their greatest ever player" when we signed him, that accolade has perhaps now been passed on to Tuncay but still you get my point, actually judging by some of yours posts you probably don't, ney mind eh. What has that got to do with my point that he's not actually that highly rated outside Toon fans? Turkey's greatest ever player? On the evidence of what he has been like in the premiership, he's not looked that good to me. Well the Turkish fans rate him, in fact a whole Country does, so your dumb point means fuk all, quite literally fuk all Mr Carrot. Mr Carrot? I do apologise, Mr errrrm, Nail. Sorry, i mistook you for a comedian with some of this shit you've posted up in this thread, i couldn't help read it in a comical Brummie voice. Slip of the mind, wont happen again sire. You also made the tragic error of mistaking Jasper Carrott for a comedian, which throws into question your judgement on the whole. We should carry this debate on for a few months or so. We could be the new NE5 and Mick ;-) Winning punch tbh.

thank god, allah, and whoever else scuppled this mistake before it could be made I would certainly buy them a pint or two. Does Allah drink? Thought he was a tee total boring sod?

Baros, Barry, Angel, Sorenson, Mellberg are all good enough for the CL. Barry & Mellberg, the others are soft. If that's the case, Taylor, Solano (their best player the season before last), Milner (their best player last season) N'Zogbia & Butt could all join the list below. Given Duff Emre Martins Owen Parker Butt? A few half decent games and he's quality again? Oh and if you are going to include young promise like Taylor and Zog, then in that case I'll add Ridgewell, Davis, Agbonlahor and Gary Cahill. If you're including injured players, I'll also add Laursen. And Emre and Parker are rated nowhere outside the north east (except briefly in the mind of McLaren, and that says it all, really). i honesty don't think your squad is anywhere near as good as some of you think it is, I really don't. I've already mentioned the defence, and up front you're about as lightweight as it is possible to be. re Baros and Angel as mentioned above, you're right on Angel, he's had more chances than any player down here and has never delivered consistently. Baros i think can do it, he just needs a change of club, it isnt working out for him here. Ridgewell is no better than Ramage, in fact he's shite, dont pass him off as one for the future  Was it him giving away all the pens 4 in 4 games or something? Cahill again same boat, might as well put up Hunty in there if your adding him. Laursen is a joke, a one played on Villa, i might as well chuck in Bramble FFS! Have you seen Ridgewell this season? In fact, have you watched any football this year? He is a player transformed. The penalties you refer to were last season. I'd also point out that the Actim stats rate him as the 39th best player in the Prem this season so far, although there are two Villa players above him. Incidentally, the highest Toon player in the list is Ramage at number 99. Cahill is a superb prospect. Excellent defender and an eye for goal. And if Laursen is a joke played on Villa, what is Owen? Just because he is injured doesnt make him a bad player. And Laursen will be back in January. When will Owen be back? So Ridgewell has a good couple of games and he's the best thing ever eh? What kind of timescale do you end form and class starts at? If Butt isn't allowed to be called for his class after 10games even with so many MOM under his belt, how come some shitty Villa defender can be classed as a CL prospect with only 19 game under his belt, how many of them were MOM?
-
And Butt won the Champions League, as in on the best form since doing so. But naa, Ridgewell & Cahill are the boys.

Thing is if this team (Fill in the blanks with decent quality) went out against any CL opponent at SJP i'd be confident we'd do ok: --------------Given ?----Taylor----?----? Solano---Parker---Emre---Duff ---------Owen----Martins----- Subs: Harper Ramage Milner Butt Zogbia Dyer ? So basically fill in the gaps, and were a Champions league team (with some good management and luck) but its obvious were we need to spend out money, at the back, do that and there is no team below the big 4 that would touch us. Just got to keep em all fit

McBride - no better than sibbi - no point Doyle - gamble & Reading will demand too much - £6m minimum King - Shite & injured championship player Nugent - Over-priced not in form - £6m? No ta Viduka - Fat, lazy, arshole, wanker Ozzie, Smoggy, over paid, over fed, under talented waste of oxygen Cole - hahahahahahahaha hohohohohohohohohoho hehehehehehehehehehe - sensible suggestions only please Beattie - Worth a crack at £2m. I sort of agree, but it shows how desperate we are for strikers that Beattie would be a good buy when you remember that only a couple of years ago most of us laughed at the idea. It would be nice to be one of these clubs that can find a star player in South America for nowt. If Dutch and German clubs can do it and French clubs finding players in Africa, why can't we? That's what get's on my tit's the most. This club is clueless in that regard, it would seem. We spotted Nobby and that's about it, pretty sad. Work permits are different with these countries though. They can sign one non EU a season without them having to play Internationals etc... True, but there's got to be a way around it. Like, why can't we buy a player, loan him out until we can get his papers sorted? Sorry, I'm a little naive on the workings of different EU countries work policies. MAnu do with a feeder club, but got no clue how the legalities work.

I am going to laugh at that. Voted worst player in Serie A last season, totally out of form, unhappy as fuk, none of the big teams looking at him anymore. Worth a gamble, its still Adriano, the fan hate him, he wants out, maybe Martins can have a word. Laugh, but its a good idea imo I just can't see it ever happening. Not with us. This is what i miss about Bobby, he'd of bin in there like a shot trying for a loan on Adriano right now. No vision Roeder just couldnt even begin to think about going about it.

You might laugh at this one, but what about Adriano? 5 starts, 7 subs, no goals. Take him on loan, pay his wages, set a fee in the summer for £8-10m. Now that would be a fantastic gamble. Means we can spend this £10m elsewhere. I'd even take his team mate Julio Cruz on a free, getting on, but still got good physical presence.

Laughed at him for £7-8m, and we were all right in that respect, Everton were wrong. £2m for him now is no laughing matter, seeing the return Sibby has given us, players like Beattie, who you know can do better can be a bargain buy, especially when we really just need a stop gap type player till the summer.

James Beattie could be on the move for £2m. Worth a gamble? I think so.
-
I've also heard its re-hashed quotes from ages ago, and he's actually talking about how he cannot be selfish anymore as he's in charge of so many careers.
-
a lot of money, would rather go for Alan Smith for £6m.

Was he ever in the question?

http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=434912&plid=31223&clid=51&cpid=11 Crewe Alexandra are determined to get the top price for Jon Otsemobor, amid reports Bolton Wanderers want the full-back. Otsemobor has been placed on the transfer list at Gresty Road after rejecting an offer to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season. He has been linked with a January move to Bolton, where he spent two months on loan from Liverpool back in 2004. Crewe boss Dario Gradi is believed to want £400,000 for the defender and is keen for the club to receive a fair price for Otsemobor. "I still think he owes us because we rescued him from Rotherham," Gradi told the club's official website. "When we did the same with Jermaine Wright from Wolves' reserves, he refused to sign a new contract, but we got £500,000 for him. "He owed us, we got our money, so that was that." Billy Jones is also in the same situation as Otsemobor, and Gradi feels he has no option but to sell the versatile teenager in January. He added: "I have always stated how disappointed I am in the two lads that have turned down a new contract. "I always thought that one day, one of our kids could well turn around and say he isn't signing, but I never expected it to be Billy. I've told him that. "Now it is my job to sell him and get as much money as I can for him, as to not put those kids coming up behind him in any jeopardy." ----------------------------------- Jones is off this window, i hope were watching.
-
I'd pay anything up to that for him, but Crewe, running on a tight budget, in League one are willing to talk at £500k. I'd actually offer them the £500k and loan him back for the season, or if he's decent enough from the off, offer a loanee of our own to them for the remainder of the season. If a bidding war starts, or looks likely, just offer a straight £1m and you'd be talking to him that day, Crewe aren't afraid to sell when the money is right. Nicky Maynard is another player from Crewe who i think could be one to watch, but only burst on the scene this season, scored some goals mind you, but i think next season we'll see if its real quality or not. ------------------------------------------------------- http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=431347&plid=52544&clid=51&cpid=11 Crewe Alexandra have placed Jon Otsemobor on the transfer list, but Nicky Maynard has signed a new contract at Gresty Road. Otsemobor has been put up for sale by Crewe boss Dario Gradi after refusing to sign an extension to his deal which expires at the end of the season. Gradi is unhappy with the full back's stance and admits he has no option but to circulate Otsemobor's name to other clubs. "We've transfer listed Otsemobor because he has decided against signing a new deal," Gradi told the club's official website. "He has told me that he is happy to wait until the summer, but we're not happy with that, we don't want to wait until Christmas. "We rely heavily on selling players, more and more so in fact, and if everybody took the stance that Otsemobor and Billy Jones have, then we'd be playing non-league football in a few years' time." Gradi could replace Otsemobor by handing French defender Patrick Noubissie a short-term deal after a trial with the League One club. But Gradi has been boosted by teenage striker Maynard's commitment to the club by extending his contract through to 2010. Maynard has scored 11 goals for Crewe this season, but has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury.
