  1. Disgusting turn of events. PIF will be furious and rightly so.
  2. Then we could have had someone in, maybe even him for the Tottenham game. I think he’s here for a good 3 years if he doesn’t relegate us this season.
  3. Yes it’s a shite situation and tbh I struggled to see why Emery would leave a cushy number in spain, in cl for us in our position but we obviously got some kind of good vibes from him that he was willing. That’s not something we as fans have made up in our heads so managers of his ilk are at least tempted. Had he not have a job then he’d be appointed by now. There are still managers out there on the same level not attached. AVB, Fonesca etc…let’s go get one.
  4. Of course, he’s not a massive cunt and is several tiers above what we’ve just had but we will be looking to replace him first opportunity, think someone more established grows with us.
  5. But it’s the money that did it. Had there been no investment like many of the clubs down there then they’d still be down there and Howe another championship manager at best. He spent the 250m in the prem and 80m to get them there from the championship. It’s not difficult with that kind of backing. If KLD threw £80m at Lee Johnson he’d have a very good chance of getting Sunderland to the prem and 250m keeps them there. It’s unheard of levels of cash. ive not checked but I reckon wilder did it on a fraction of the budget, in quicker time and high finish, yet we wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. Funny how Howe demands respect from some quarters for his achievements yet there is very little that separates the 2 apart from Howe talks a good story and seems to be more palatable & trendy.
  6. Well exactly. If a manager can’t even choose his own back room staff then what’s the fucking point?
  7. £300m is inferior investment? They showed more ambition than half the league and backed him at every opportunity.
  8. All the money in the world and after 4 weeks this is your best effort. Christ. Utterly underwhelming appointment. One for the brexiteers.
  9. A lot of learning for them and it's chicken and egg situation with manager, Dof and SD hiring, but right now we need a manager, then rest can come later. A decent Dof could work with a manager not quite synced for a couple of seasons and then look for someone more suitable if they can't sync up in that time. Time is the one thing they cannot buy and why for me it's the most important aspect right now even above quality (as long as it's not too poor of course) They'll get better I'm sure of it. Don't think Charnley being involved helps whatsoever. Maybe they make him rake the fall today and see him sacked. That would be worth all this drama.
  10. Took them 6 months, 1 rejection and £30m to get their man.
  11. You can only use the shock factor for so long. So many walks of life shit gets dumped on you and you have to run with it. They are experienced business men and women with near enough unlimited funds to make things happen and have been wanting this for years. They believed it would happen so it's not a complete shock it has. So for me This isn't an excuse anymore, it only has a limited shelf life and for me thathas expired. They now need to be more agile in thinking and process and realise 24 hours is a long time in football and we have little time to waste. It's the old QCT. Cost isn't an issue, quality and time is. Which is more important to all this? Quality long term yes, but time is equally as important as if you wait and get a quality manager but run out of time.to make the changes then next season he leaves and it's all been for nothing. Your 2nd paragraph is spot on though, I'm not arguing for pulling that one up.
  12. Yes. Huge concern for me. I don't know what they see in Howe as a manager but also as a piece of the jigsaw with a Dof and or SD.
  13. Rather have AVB. Hopefully were looking elsewhere already if this is how he likes to play games. He is as well with his flip flop comments before and after the game. He's shown himself up to both his current and potential employers.
  14. This is where they lack experience. As always the right approach is somewhere in the middle.
  15. It was from our side. All the English press had the info at the same time. That is a fact. They obviously wanted to address the fans and they've jumped the gun a bit. PIF will be fuming ad they don't announce things before its completely sealed.
  16. Also now feel a little sick that was 20 years ago. Just sent it to my 15 year old son and felt incredibly old. ?
  17. Amateur hour. They really need to get some experienced bodies in and jettison Charnley ASAP. Reckon he's the leak, probably not even in purpose just a useless twat with a loose mouth.
  18. PIF will be fuming. Oops. Only option for them now is to go for someone bigger.

    Sunderland

They’re still going wild about that comment even though the poster said he made it up.

Made up comment on RTG, but sounded plausible enough and caught a few out.
