  1. I'd imagine the 13 senior players Keegan has to work with today are: Shay Given Steve Harper Habib Beye Steven Taylor Cacapa David Edgar Jose Enrique James Milner Nicky Butt Charles N'Zogbia Damien Duff Michael Owen Obafemi Martins When you look at it that way, even though there are players still to come in, we need the bodies in over the next five weeks.
  2. Just so there can be no doubts of honesty: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-evening-chronicle/2008/07/07/nufc-boss-derek-llambias-slams-takeover-talk-72703-21274597/
  3. He's owned by Gazprom, the main rival to Abramovich in Russia, so he can get a shedload to stay where he already is.
  4. I'll get shot down for this Dave but i actually believe he will be a very good centre half when he gets a bit older. However, i don't believe he is the player for us. We need someone in the peak of their career. I won't shut you down because I agree. His only problem right now is one of maturity and focus which I believe will come as he gets older and he gets the young, rich and famous out of his system. His first season at West ham in the prem he was very good and then the hype came along and he got carried away with all that. Get him away from London and at a more disciplined and structured club and he will certainly improve as a player, and even moreso as he gets older. Unless he does a Bramble.

    Thank God*

After a few weeks to adjust to the new site, I have to say it is a lot worse than before. Homepage takes a lot longer to load up, and if you want to see what new videos are out, you either have to scroll through the moving headline thing, or navigate through several other pages. Buffering and stutterring of the videos are worse, and lack full screen/open in WMP options.
  6. If that's true, I'm surprised it wasn't Live on SSN.
  7. One comment on the main site is someone claiming to have cancelled their season ticket at the box office, citing Joey Barton as their reason. From my perspective anyhow, less STs mean better seats for me next season.
  8. Isn't out of jail yet AFAIK This could possibly be his first day of parole, but I doubt the club will let him show up until we've met him for talks. He'll probably need a shorter preseason than the others.
  9. cue pictures in the chronicle of the players running on tynemouth longsands. Allardyce didn't allow that last year.

If we wanted to loan out Krul and Forster, we'd need a 3rd keeper...

blatantly going out on loan Aye but i'm wondering how its all gonna work, how old is this guy? 24 I think.

I scouted Andujar earlier this week on youtube. Only one video he really appeared in with any significance, and seemed a bit butter fingered. Only about 20 seconds worth though, so I can't really comment

If this is true, there is potentially a huge Given vs Harper vs Andujar vs Krul vs Forster vs Soderberg debate to keep us going until the start of the season.

Other sources do suggest that he has a £1.5m release clause.

Pretty much every Argentinian news source over the past few days AFAIK. I'm just not going assume its done until one of the club's official sites brings it up.

This story has been going in Argentina for half a week now. Will lead to interesting debate if it does come off.
  18. Very good point, that could be why Wise and Jimenez are in Dubai next couple of weeks. Which would be understandable if the club was owned by someone with limited funds (ie previous regime) and wanted it to expand, but in Ashley's circumstances it really does make me ask: why? You don't become billionaire without exploiting every money making opportunity. I'd imagine a medium term lease on the surrounding land including allowed development would be very profitable to the club.

  20. Don't think Arshavin is worth more than £12m to any club myself.
  21. All this, the same week Newcastle bought a player without the press knowing about it, and the same week the national media attended Kevin Keegan's plane press conference, only to be told that Newcastle United were off the agenda.
  22. Apart from an private equity firm that deals in sports (mainly broadcasting) saying they were approached, there is no proof what so ever. Had you heard of said media firm before Friday? Lets say they want to move into the British market. What better way to get your name into the mainstream press than talks over 'buying' a football club? Even if Ashley denies it (again), their aim is accomplished Yep, to quote the BBC article: It is not known who made the approach to InterMedia. There are many other people who might approach InterMedia about this and not be a club employee. Someone perhaps who wants to buy us but needs the money.
  23. what's your point ? Just saying I've asked you questions that you didn't bother answering in the past and I know plenty of others have to. Err, no he wasn´t, not really anyway.. He mainly had to fund his acquisitions by selling players.Net spend so far on the playing staff (transfer fees) over a one year period has been well under 10 million, which is quite low considering what clubs around us have spent.. fact Maths not your strong point, eh? Enlighten me.. Fact is that we were spending average sized transfer fees, and allowing a significant increase in our wage bill when it wasn't certain that Dyer was leaving. Dyer's departure helped balance the books, but our investments were clearly not dependent on that, hence our net spend was much less than what was actually possible.
  24. All very well coming from someone who's limited man-management skills probably provoked Barton into going out on the lash in the first place.
