Someone with a seat behind the goals needs a big Mike Ashley picture with a "Hit me for 1 goal" sign over it. That might motivate the players to get some goals.

Newcastle are playing like a mid-table Championship side. We are almost completely ignoring our wings and our midfield, playing the ball long and straight up the middle. This is making it incredibly easy for Forrest to defend, as they just stack the centre of their box and Carrol and Harewood get swamped. Lovenkrands & Guthrie have been absolutely useless, giving us no options on the wings at all. They just keep drifting up and down the side almost hiding. The defense has been appalling. They have all been regularly out of position, run around, out tackled, out muscled and generally played off the park. Its like parking a bunch of over-ripe pears in front of goal and hoping they don't get squashed.

The only competition that seems to be in this game is who knows less about football. At the moment, I think the ref' has a slight edge over City, whilst the Toon are doing us proud by at least knowing the rules but not having any ability to play.

This whole game is sounding like a complete cluster fuck. Newcastle are playing gash, City are fielding wrestlers who simply don't know how to play football, and the ref' is missing high-school level fouls.

Well it's 4:30am here... time to get some sleep. Great job by the lads (except Butt who SUCKS), was well worth the sleep deprivation.

What's the deal with this game. The fixtures/betting agencies/nufc.com/nufc.co.uk all say it is supposed to be played at 3pm on Saturday 19th September, now & today. But, this thread says the 21st September and there is nothing to suggest the game is underway. I can't find any reference to the game being moved to the 21st, so whats going on??? Edit: I'm an idiot and got my international time-line wrong.

I have a mixed response. Of all the people I have heard of that actually -want- the job, Shearer is the one I'd prefer. But.... I'd prefer we get someone with more experience and potentially more talent (I say potentially more because Shearer is completely unproven). So, for example, if the choices were Shearer or Kinnear I'd want Shearer. But if the choices were Shearer or Hitzfeld I'd want Hitzfeld.
