Yea there will definitely be some ridiculous scorelines in the group stages, but like you say, the alternative is don't let the rubbish teams play! Even the opening games on paper should be very easy wins for Norway and Australia This all starts early tomorrow morning with the first game in New Zealand. Not the best preparation though, as there has just been an active shooter situation in the city and at least a couple of people have been killed!

Contracts tend to be very small, most likely only 1 year. Even in the WSL most players are on 1 year contracts, although that definitely seems to be changing. That's also why transfers fees are a fairly new thing in the women's game. There is such a huge step up to the WSL even from the championship, so you don't want to be stuck with a load of players who aren't good enough, and no room in the squad for newer and better players

That is huge!! For context there are probably around 3 or 4 teams (don't quote me on that) that are professional in the 2nd tier, and we're in the 3rd tier!! Only issue is when clubs do this, they'll often pay a salary of less than 20k, so players who are earning more than that in their current jobs can't really take the hit, and also can't commit to training full time! Still it's a huge step forward and we should be able to attract a lot of talent to drop down a league to come and play for us!

I don't think there has even been a deal signed to broadcast it in Europe yet! I'm sure BBC/ITV will come to some sort of agreement but at the moment, it's a standoff and there are only 50 days to go! On the footballing side, I think injuries mean England will struggle to get past the quarters. USA will be huge favourites as always, with Germany probably the strongest European side by some distance!

What are the newcastle fans singing??

They never take things like this into account, not even in the top league. Like you say it's such a simple thing to do to boost crowds!!

Arsenal Women are about to kick off in a sold out Emirates stadium for their champions league semi- final. That's the dream for our team, but feels like a lifetime away!!

It's going to go right down to the wire this, literally can't afford to drop a point! Hopefully win it on GD!!

This really is a great opportunity! Pressured penalty shootout infront of nearly 90,000 people, but not the worst thing in the world if you don't win! You never really get to replicate situations like this!

Couple of really good saves in this shootout so far!!

First mistake she's made since winning her place back last year! Bad time for it!! Penalty shoot out should be interesting, good practise potentially for the world cup in a couple of months

There a top of the table, potential title decider in the women's game between Chelsea and Manchester United live on BBC 2 this lunchtime. Will be interesting to see what they do with that!! I think they're going to use fifferent commentary provided by the FA, but will there be anyone to actually host the programme??

Big game next Tuesday as the women's team take on Durham at Kingston park. Durham are currently 7 points clear but we have 2 games in hand, so this game will go a long way to deciding who wins the league Would be good to get a decent crowd there, tickets are only £1 for under 16s and £3 for adults

Women's League cup final is on BBC in an hour, should be a good quality game, Arsenal V Chelsea. If it goes to (the very boring) script Arsenal will start strong, Chelsea will win comfortably, Sam Kerr will score
