That is wild, I honestly can't believe what is happening here The standard of the teams outside of the top 10 has improved to unbelievable levels, no one could have expected Canada, Germany and Brazil to get knocked out in the group stages!!! I reckon Netherlands could be in with a shout of winning now, but still reckon USA will do it!

Next lot of kick offs should be interesting! Jamaica just need a point against Brazil to go through, whoever comes second will likely play Columbia France will most likely win the group and then probably face Germany in the next round!

Could be down to a number of things The squad is made up of a lot of new players, and then some older players, not really any inbetween. He hasn't really used the last 4 years to blend those 2 groups together, so it's like they're a new squad, he should have done that woth the Olympics, but he didn't and they underperformed there! He also doesn't seem to trust his full squad, seems to hate making substitutions! Plus the investment from the rest of the world is catching up to them. They were always faster and stronger than everyone else, they don't have that now! Another thing is all of the squad plays in the US league, the nwsl. Its not a terrible league, but it's also not the best. The players aren't playing alongside and against the other best players in the world week in and week out, they have no champions league equivalent either! But.....I honestly wouldn't put it past them to still win it!!

Yea gone 3 at the back with bronze and day as wing backs. Hemp and Russo upfront and interchanging all over the place which seems to be working really well. Gives an extra edge as our previous formation had become stale and fairly easy to defend against

USA started really well, very fast paced, but then as in the other games they just didn't look great after that! Portugal got amongst them and the longer it went on the more nervous they looked. Just didn't look like scoring, and Portugal should have won it at the end! They've got a canny easy run through the knockouts despite coming 2nd in the group, which is annoying

Yea totally, you can't maintain that level of accuracy!! We've played Japan a few times in recent years and just brushed them aside, but they've been in a 'transitional' period for years now! Maybe this is them finally transitioned!!

Can't decide if Japan are going to be a real threat, or if they've just hit lucky against a Spain team who have so many issues behind the scenes! Feels like no one other than Japan is really excelling at the moment! Although Australia will have the wind in their sales now, and still with Kerr to come back!!

She will, but she'll miss the majority of next season! There is definitely a huge issue with ACLs in the women's game, it has to be hormone related, but I also wonder if its to do with how early female players start getting strength and conditional training. Male players start so early in academy's where as female players are probably not getting that level as young. Hopefully the more research that happens, the more things can be done to prevent them.

We would have been lucky to get there anyway, but now it would be a miracle! If it is an ACL, that's our 3 best players from the euro's out with the same injury!!

Williamson doing her acl has ruined any chance we had of doing well in this tournament. Obviously she was the captain, but she was also the organiser of the defence, and the ball player centre half! Millie Bright is the twice the player when Williamson is next to her

But the pen that was given wouldn't have been obvious in the stadium. No way you would spot in Real time that it was handball, so it give that's context

To be fair I think it helps in the ground more than those watching on TV! There has been a pen in every single game so far!!
