1,500 at the game today! Great attendance for a 4th tier game, but especially given kick off was the same time as the men kicked off on Sky! They're at Kingston Park again next Sunday, so perfect opportunity to go and support them!
-
Seems like a good time to do it! Squad announcement tomorrow so will be interesting to see who gets her place. I would think it would be Salmon who is playing in the US, or James if she's fit.
-
Playing at Kingston Park next Sunday, would be good if we could start to build some decent support for the team! Tickets are only £3 for adults and £1 for children!
-
I'm on my way down to the game! The train is full of people in England shirts!! Jonjo Shelvey is also on the train with his family!!
-
Match day! We've got an awful record against Sweden, and an awful record in Semi-Finals! Can't wait.....
-
England will play Sweden in the Semi's now. On paper Sweden should be favourites, but England have looked stronger in the tournament so far I'll probably jinx it, but should be really tight! Last time we faced each other 'competitively' was 2019 and the 3rd place play off in the world cup.....they beat us!
-
Do you mean mad in that it's tough games? If so, other than Austria and Belgium, we were actually the lowest ranked team going into the quarter finals! European teams are crazy strong at the moment, anyone could win this now! I just hope it continues into the world cup next year so someone can stop USA!
-
Just couldn't happen! Imagine how much money it would cost to say every single pitch has to have a separate set of goals for when women play, at every level?? If it was a major problem, loads more goals would be scored. It just makes the game different!

Spain were tactically better than us for about 75 minutes! They attacked down the right which meant bronze couldn't get forward, and they completely took mead and hemp out of the game However, as much as they had a lot more the ball, they didn't create a load of chances, which is where they've struggled all tournament White looks rubbish, but she tires teams out off the ball as she never stops running The difference today seemed today that we had a plan B, and they didn't, our substitutes changed the game! Semi final against (likely) Sweden will be very tough! They got to the semi finals of the world cup and the final of the Olympics, they're very strong! Even if we win that, we'll likely get Germany in the final, but let's just enjoy where we are for now!!
-
Huge game this! Both teams were probably joint favourites going into the tournament, so should be tight! Both teams like to keep possession but Spain are likely to see the most of the ball. Hopefully their high line will suit us, but cant see them being as open and as high up the pitch against us as they have against other teams. The winner will most likely face Sweden, which will be equally as tough!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'm in Rotherham for France v Netherlands on Saturday! Can't wait!!!
-
Great goal that! Kirby has been quietly brilliant in all 3 games!
-
Look like France have lost 1 of their key players to an ACL injury. Seems like such a common injury in the women's game!! England manager has tested positive for covid too!!
-
Agree with this That Liverpool game on the Friday night a couple of season ago was insane!!
-
Quite a lot of fans have come over from Netherlands, and they have a reputation for creating a bit of a carnival atmosphere before games, so get the kids involved with that! They do a walk to the stadium which is just a sea of Orange, looks great! I'm hoping they come second in their group as I have tickets to that quarter final in rotherham!!
-
This is insane!! Waa supposed to be a tight game, and we're (according to myself) not clinical enough!!
-
After the 1st round of group games, it looks as if everything is going as expected England could do well, but they have to find some way of being more clinical! Norway - strong starting 11, not sure if the squad is good enough to go all the way Germany - look excellent and have a very strong squad, will take something special to beat them France - Amazing team, should do well, but could also implode at any second Sweden and Netherland - cancelled each other out in the opening and could both easily win the whole thing Spain - look brilliant even with 2 of their best players out of the squad injured! Second round of group games starts tonight, and we should learn a lot more about what England are capable of after the game against Norway!
-
England are a lot better than that, I think the occasion might have got to the players a bit last night! The game against Norway next week will be vrry different I would expect!
-
I would be more than happy for him to stay, I think the issue is he's one of the few we could actually get a bit of money for!
-
Is it worth merging this with the actual women's team thread? Some good chat In here which has moved on from the match itself
-
Not a chance they would drip.down to the 4th tier. Our best vet at the moment is to start attracting the best players in the region rather than them having to go to Sunderland or Durham. If we can get up to the championship there is a chance we could attract better players, its sort of what Man U did a few season ago The Championship is a really competitive league now, so the expectation of back to back promotions 3 years in a row and then finish top 3 to get into the champions league in their first season in the WSL is a bit wild from the owners!
-
I don't 'need' the facilities that the gym at work has, but shockingly, work still let's me use them!
-
The women's game in this country has only been professional for a few years, and its only the top league which is professional. You can't compare them to the men's game now and assume they should be making the same kind of money! Same goes for the 'standard' of the game. Even most of the England Womens team will have spent a good chunk of their careers paying subs, and training just twice a week. The training they will have received is not comparable! Invest now, give people the same level of coaching and equal facilities, and then see what could happen!

I think there are still rules in place for spending in the women's game, but as always, ways of getting around them. There doesn't tend to be high fees at the moment, but the rules are more around the wages on offer. Chelsea definitely found a few loopholes when they signed Sam Kerr!
