I thought he was a consistent top performer in every game he played during that spell, it wasn't like he just had one good game.

He knows what will make or break his Blackburn career and I don't think it's the FA Cup. -

I'm really looking forward to seeing a few of the fringe players getting a game. -
French sirops of various flavours are a much nicer drink for children, not to mention world class strikers, than Cola and other carbonated crap kids in the UK seem to prefer.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

That makes him a great player, like having a Coloccini in midfield. -
I think that's just what he's about. A good no frills defender who is always on his game.
-
Has he been arrested more times than he's scored at scumderland ?

Superb. Really intelligent guy. Proud that he is at our club. Getting him back soon would be a consolation but he deserves every success with his country. Would be great to see him parading an ACN winners medal at SJP in a few weeks time.

Bollocks. I want a good cup run. I hate empty Saturdays during the football season. -
When your club captain is nothing more than a low life hooligan thug and your manager turns a blind eye to it all it's probably to be expected sadly. Scummy club. Just wish their players etc would find hotels, restuarants and bars in their own town to cause trouble in.

Does anyone feel a bit sorry for those mackems who do bother to attend games ? They pay their money (well some of them do) but will never get to see one of the "big" sides play their strongest side with all the star players on show. They should complain to the Premier League about only ever seeing weakened/reserve XI's when they come up against title challengers. Perhaps if the big players did turn out against them they might get a few more bums on the empty seats.

A great night, heaven knows we never win nowt and we get our fair share of bad times but nights like this somehow make it all worthwhile. Lets get the result in context too before it is put down to a Man Utd decline. A week ago everyone was talking them up for the league again as they drew level at the top. They were unbeaten away from home before yesterday (7 wins 2 draws) had conceded only 3 goals and played a keeper who had 7 clean sheets out of 7. 14 heroes on the park last night and a few more on the sidelines, but special mentions for the whole back 5, Santon looks like a very good player and if Colo is ever less than a 9/10 it'll be worth mentioning. Cabaye was superb even without the strike and Tiote played his best game of the season by some distance. What more can we say about Demba? World class hardly seems OTT. -

Just wanted to bump from pre match thread before I go to sleep. It feels good. Really good. Football / Re: Newcastle United vs Man Utd - 04/01/12 @ 8pm (live on Sky) pre-match thread « Message by Benwell Lad on Yesterday at 08:59:54 PM » OK I'm gonna buck the pessimism trend. They (Virgin Money) may, if a stadium naming deal is agreed. It won't have much to do with Sir Beardie.
-
Yeah. Compulsory and only from SD too. Barred from the stadium otherwise. FCB.

In a 12 year old schoolboy kind of way. Although I must say I find the planes and trains absolutely hilarious.
-
Putting passion aside, if I were about to embark of a huge marketing campaign to raise the brand awareness of a product and attach it to the city it resides in, I'd seriously consider it. Said in the journal today Virgin Money are about to embark on a Huge advertising campaign in the next few weeks, maybe this fits in with that. It makes sense to me.

5354.81 Man United fans are of course c***s, whatever place not named Manchester they may come from. and of course there's a huge difference between being a plastic glory seeker and a masochistic idiot who voluntarily chooses to support NUFC. -

Most factual statements of the day. Mind there hasn't been much competition - apart from the bit where the wifey said the stadium should remain named SJP

They might be going for the good publicity? Would mean very little outside of NE1. If they're paying big money they're looking for national/international impact. However if it were to happen I could see a future sponsor incorporating "St.James'Park" into their chosen name. Honestly think it would have national impact if they changed it back - seeing as the original change made such headlines. 'Saint Richard did another lovely thing today' type stuff while providing coverage of the actual sponsorship itself which is the key aim of said sponsorship, of course. Yeah, see your point on a national albeit short term basis. A "Virgin (or whoever) St.James Park" title could be the answer. Finding favour with fans while gaining biggest impact for the sponsor and even get the media off the hook.
