Newcastle United 1 - 0 QPR - 15/01/12 - Post-match reaction from page 42

MOTD seemed to make a half hearted attempt to portray us as a team sufffering a bit of a wobble or slide. 4 wins out of 5 and 100% record in 2012 may have blown the "new" myth. BTW thought the QPR fans were very good, not great numbers but for a 1.30 pm Sunday televised game decent enough. There was an older fella, quite tall with a walking stick and blue and white hat and scarf walking up to Gallowgate having a good go at anyone within earshot and even doing his best to mimic a Geordie accent at times. He was loving it. Great stuff. -
No, sorry I didn't hear but I'm sure it was great! I was just joking... I know most of the Toon supporters like him (at least I hope so!). By the way, he's right, he gave me love when he scored that goal against Blackburn! But he could score loads of goals like that if he keeps working hard... It's a long time since we loved/appreciated so many of our first team squad. HBA is right up there, I personally know no one who doesn't love him and what he brings to the team.

Thanks for the explanation. Can't wait for Ashley the movie :-) Maybe Peter Kay in the lead role ?

Good spot Howay man Dave/Stu, enlighten those of us who stopped in town for a few last night and aren't quite up to speed yet. Unless it's a private thing of course....

? Ben or Maggie ?

He'd make a great DOF. We should hire him. It's the future.

Hadn't seen him at the match for a couple of games but was there yesterday, clad in B&W scarf and giving it big ones with Dekka when we scored. No doubt will be interpreted by some that he's enjoying it and will invest more, while others will say he's just happy seeing a squad player score to save buying a new striker. Either way he looked like any other fan when it went in.

Bit of "chicken and egg" about that staement Mick. The assertion you make probably only comes about because the s*** about there being some kind of rift is starting to stick. I actually think Pardew loves HBA (who in their right mind wouldn't?) and what I've heard him say is normally complimentary or at very least realistic. dunno like, i've seen sod all wrong with ben arfa's workrate, especially compared to others who regularly get starts. Don't know what you're replying to mate But anyway I agree, his workrate yesterday was excellent, as was the rest of his game. i was replying to you over the assertion that what pardew has said about ben arfa is complimentary or realistic when all the bits about his workrate etc have been tosh. Gotcha. Although I haven't heard nowt from Pardew I'd class as anything more than "constructive crticism" - certainly no direct criticism and most of it very complimentary. Still everyone (especially the press) loves a manager versus cavalier player story, a la HBA, Robert, Ginola all the way back to Stan Bowles and the like.

Excellent yesterday, especially considering it was first game back from injury. He has looked like a top Premiership player in every game he's played this season. Needs to be tied down.

Thought it was an engrossing game, with QPR understandably up for it trying to impress a new boss. Like a few others I struggled to come to terms with our shape when Cabaye went off, but the Guardian article posted by Ozzie on this page is excellent and once again illustrates how tactically astute Pardew can be. Mentions for Santon, Ben Arfa and particularly Guthrie, who was excellent, especially considering it was his first game back from injury. -
Glass center & cheeesy chips rool ok. Sundlund til half time. FTM.

They're gonna put everyone behind the ball and try to frustrate us. Key to the pattern of the match will be how early we can score, an early goal will open things right up, no early goal could make it a frustrating afternoon. -
Their defenders seem to be very well rehearsed in holding their arms up in orchestrated innocence when they commit fouls inside the box. How Cattermole stays on the pitch as he charges round the midfield commiting GBH on anything that moves, post Kompany, is quite amazing.

In light of today's results and looking at the league table, it would be a perfect time to register a convincing victory. -
It certainly helps SSN get their biggest audience and advertising revenues of the year. Not being cynical or nowt............

Must now deserve it's own "pre match" type thread as the last day of the transfer window has become such a hugely important and widely anticipated day for us in recent seasons. How will the drama unfold this year ? How will Sky TV keep the Geordie public glued to their TV screen as next to nothing actually happens ? How many times will David Craig have to change his underwear as the excitement at Gallowgate reaches fever pitch ? Will Sky/BBC/ITV eventually find some charvers who can speak a semblance of something remotely resembling English ? Will Mike Ashley be the most evil man on the planet once again because a) he sells all our best players, OR b) he doesn't buy any superstars ? Will we finally acheive the negative net spend so many crave or will we just spend a few bob on new nets for the goalposts ? Who will be the N-O deadline day drama queens and what will they be threatening this time a) never to visit SJP again b) not to renew their season tickets, or c) to start supporting Man City or PSG ? At what point will the server go into meltdown and crash ? I for one can hardly wait for it (not).

Sick bag, please? Ignoring another result, aren't we? The parody he does of a complete mindless idiot makes my parody attempts look feeble by comparison. Gerrard should have been off before half time on Wednesday night for two fouls which would have been yellows to anyone else. Since making a mockery of British justice in his court case he must think he's untouchable nowadays.

Keep smiling Sammy. Get well soon!

Come on now, what would you really expect from supporters of a club who's captain is a thug and a car vandal. After all they were applauding him because the offences were carried out in Newcastle upon Tyne. And who could forget how many of them rated their best ever moment in football seeing their great rivals legendary centre forward carried off in their stadium. That was the game during which said legendary centre forward scored in a 4-1 defeat by said rivals, by the way.
