Superb yesterday. Best right back we've had for a while.

They do realise that was over 20 years ago right? And that actual 2013 adults were born in that year and since? Over on the shortbus they're creaming their keks on the Kinnear-Ferguson non-story. They can't go 5 threads without using the phrase 'the gift that keeps on giving'. Lifeless dullards living in a sink-estate town. Hurry up and get relegated you stains. See the "red and white Geordies" picture has predictably spawned it's own thread and has rapidly turned into the weekly (or is it daily? ) discussion about who should support who, based on their location. Of course it includes the almost obligatory line about all the plastic mags watching games on TV while all macums faithfully attend the SoS. They really do seem to have a hang up about the geographic position of the natural feature we know as the River Tyne.

This. So predictable but so funny in a pantomime sort of way. Also:- France's right back easily tackling and out muscling England's left back in the lead up to Cissoko's narrow miss. Remy's celebration - anyone know who the kid is ? Reaction around Colo (was sitting pretty close to him) when the "s*** Coloccini" chant went up in the second half. What did he do? Couldn't really say as I was behind him, people around him were turning round waving, smiling etc so I reckon it's safe to say he was enjoying it. He seemed in good humour, pretty much as you'd expect from the bloke, getting lots of photos taken and signing autographs.

Aye but there's another transfer window to set alight before then marra.
-
He'd fit easily into a very good side's midfield, say Arsenal or Chelsea for example, he just has that touch of class on the ball that they always look for.
-
You can say what you want about Poyet as a manager but in terms of likability he has absolutely none. Someone who s***s on dressing room floors is not a decent bloke. I thought it was pretty poor form that he started going on about other challenges in the match and didn't even mention Dossena's. Cattermole's was a red but given that other horrific challenge on top of that he should've shown more humility than he did. He went on the front foot too much for me. Standard stuff from Sunderland managers for quite a few years now tbh.

If Pardew's as bad as many on here make him out to be (and he may well be), then in order to achieve yesterday's result against arguably the shrewdest manager in world football, a team full of world class players and just a couple of days after playing 120 minutes, then one of Carver, Woodman or Stone must be a fucking genius. Yes I know the week before was absolutely woeful.
-
He must fancy a vacation then, because he got straight up and walked before even seeing the card.

With a tanner thrown with similarly "baseball pitcher" accuracy. At least that's the clouded romantic notion. "peanuts, peanuts, tanner a bag - the more you eat the more you - shalalalala MacNammee, who the fucking hell is he? - the best centre half in history" Apologies to non wrinklies.

Official: Yoan Gouffran signs new contract with Goztepe

Yup. Anything on the end of that and it was an almost certain goal. -

He has been excellent since returning to the side and in stark contrast to how "shot away" he looked at the end of last season. It's clear that he still doesn't like the ball at his feet, and though football has changed a lot it has to be remembered that a great ManU and a great Arsenal team were built around centre half's who did little other than win the headers and organise their defence.
-
he looked the same as dicanio when the ref went to talk to him. mental. It's very early but his demeanour already has the look of someone thinking "what the fuck am I doing here".

Amazingly, at the end of their match yesterday a chant of "fat Geordie bastard" was clearly audible on Radio Newcastle. Nowt wrong with that and I'm not blaming their fans or anything, but the amazing thing was that the BBC commentator drew attention to it and dismissed it as "friendly banter" or some such. Had "Geordie" been replaces with "Irish" "Welsh" or something would the BBC have dismissed it so lightly ? Like I say I can't see anything wrong with their fans singing it, but for the BBC commentator to point it out as something humourous was surprising, especially considering that most Radio Newcastle's listeners, not to mention a percentage of Sunderland's own support are "Geordies".

The baseball pitcher accuracy of the peanut sellers.

Back to their despicable, thuggish worst. Horrible club. I suppose we'll need to be careful where we park our cars for the next few weeks with their captain not having anything to do. Idle hands and all that.........
-
There was no way we were buying another CB when Colo was staying in the summer. We also have decent cover there with four senior CBs in the squad. There are not many teams in the league who have more than four CBs in their squad and I can't see how we can blame Kinnear and Ashley for our CB depth. Just have to hope that the remaining three can put up solid displays. Agree with that, it's just when it's Colo who's out that we appear so exposed. Any of the other three and it hardly raises a discussion. He is still our single most important player imo and you have to look back no further than the end of last season to see that. We will miss him on Sunday in a fixture that he was at his imperious best in last season.

mackems vs Newcastle United - Sunday 27th October @ 1.30pm (live on Sky)
Benwell Lad replied to Skirge's topic in Football
Despite the gloom on wearyside, surprisingly the bookie I looked at has both teams exactly the same price for the win. Nowt in it according to those informed fellas. -
Bollocks to all this empirical data. Just tell us in plain English - is he a cunt or not ?
-
I don't know, man. That makes me more nervous. Not used to that mindset, going into a derby. My mates (decent, sensible mackems) are abject at the minute. It's worrying. Oh don't get me wrong I'm right there with you on that. They're pros, and however poor they are and fractious the dressing room may be, they will be like wounded animals right now. I'm hoping for a strong unbiased ref who will allow our talented players to play but don't mind admitting I won't be disappointed with a draw.
-
scrap on the flight home according to some rumours.........
-
Seems like the macums, being aware that their normal derby week delusions of us "bricking it", them having "better players" and outrageous scoreline predictions would stretch the boundaries of even their non existent credibility, have now reverted to predictions of "there could be hell on" and "things could turn nasty". How were we blessed with this lot as our closest rivals ?
-
Good game, bad game, whatever, but Debuchy is quite obviously a very talented full back. A player having some teething problems after moving to a new country and adapting to a very different league is of course a different argument. Anyway he was very good on Saturday.
-
Aye, I was wondering that. Seems like a few people are now using that as a criticism of him even saying that he blames us "every week". I'll admit to not reading much in the papers etc but most of the utterances I hear from Pardew regarding our support seem quite the opposite. I'd be really interested to learn more about him blaming us on a regular basis ??
-
Despite them being in total disarray, us looking like we're in quite decent shape and our players being so much better than theirs, I will gladly sign up to the "happy with a point" brigade.
