Our support was excellent yesterday. Best it's been in a long time at home. It has been all season at SJP to be fair.
  2. They have a pre set agenda which the programme is edited around and yesterday's agenda was the odious Gerrard. Completey ignored and failed to show his blatant body body check which would and should have been his second yellow card despite it being one of the games main talking points amongst those who witnessed it. Mind talking of pre set agendas and the BBC reporting the news to fit their story, they opened yesterday's NE sports news with "it was a bad day for all our clubs". What It was another awful day for that lot down the road but we were excellent with 10 men for an hour against one of the the league's top sides. However that headline probably fit better with the story that followed, as they devoted half the bulletin to a couple of hundred disgruntled fans who traipsed around the city centre with their banners, while 50 odd thousand just went to the match as usual.
  3. Really like this fellah, he is a real team player and a great asset to our squad.

So, are the drunks back in charge of the dressing room down there after PDC's failed attempt to flush them out ?
  5. What a horrible team they are. Suarez and Gerrard personify it. They're not really that good, if they were they'd have beaten us easily considering their numerical advantage and the possession they enjoyed second half. Typical Rodgers team, retain possession, pass square but don't get it forward quickly enough to the players who can hurt the opposition.

    Paul Dummett

Wish we'd hung on for the win of course, but especially for what it would have meant for the kid. Good show Paul, stick in and you could really make it.

Maybe PDC wasn't that bad after all and it's the players who are totally shit. Pooyet looks like a rabbit trapped in he headlights already.
  8. Well I saw two handkerchiefs in the entire stadium being waved when the teams came out. Out of a 52K crowd I guess that protest was indeed a "damp squib".
  9. Spot on Ian. Playing far more games than he ever should have done last season and ended up totally shot of confidence. He's a good pro and a decent 4th choice CD, just a shame he could well be the first, indeed only, choice CD going into the derby.

what the fuck did Pooyet say at half time ?
  11. The 200K grant was little more than a token effort, a rather flimsy PR move, but this initiative looks like it could have a significant impact. It needed a bold move to get the ball rolling and now that 2 or 3 others have joined in hopefully the momentum will continue. If a few more come on board even the London clubs will feel the pressure and may be pushed towards better deals. Well done Newcastle!

    Alan Pardew

Actually, he was. Been trying to give this thread as wide a berth as possible, but in fairness Mick, Pardew had and still does have, a pretty good reputation within the game. That's what really counts when you're managing professional footballers. The opinions of fans on or off the internet is very much secondary to that. I have no doubt that Pardew will sooner or later be pushed out of NUFC, but he won't be out of work for long.
  13. I think that we'll take the game to them on Saturday and prosper accordingly.
  14. Perhaps not at present but maybe an opportunity for some scoundrel MP in a marginal seat somewhere, or even a safe Northumberland seat, to do something populist and even useful for once.
  15. From what I've seen of Liverpool this season, and despite their league position, I'm not convinced they're really that good. Well certainly not contenders anyway. Play the right team, get at them and we can get something on Saturday.

From the away tickets thread explaining what clubs are doing with their 200K grant from the PL to help make away travel more affordable. "Sunderland subsidise away tickets at certain fixtures by £10 and have improved the concourse, signage and bar areas for travelling fans. They will also produce 40,000 guidebooks for visiting fans with things to see and do while in the area". Isn't that actually stadium maintenance ? Fucking cheapskates - they'll be using it to help pay off sacked managers and associated hangers on next.
  17. Great move by the club. The 20 quid ticket campaign had faltered and was looking a bit toothless but a major club taking the initiative is just what it needs. If this starts to roll then at least a "name and shame" campaign against those who resist it should commence and then further pressure to push them towards joining in.

Looks like it's all going down the toilet at Sunderland. There again maybe not......

It's so funny once again watching them get all frothy and excited as yet another new manager comes through the door, bigging them up and promising all kind of things, when it's quite obvious he'd be nowhere near the place if he had any viable option. Things could turn very shitty down there.
  20. neither did I til last year but he did play for the u19's for us so there you go its not exactly obscure plucked from nowhere. He's not a bad keeper anyway and our selection of goalkeepers isn't exactly great anymore Congratulations Rob. It's a bit like Harper, in his prime he'd have made the present England squad-

Aye this can be a very strange "Newcastle" site at times.
  22. I'm glad you had a good time! I've never seen Hertha come back from behind, ever. Saw St Pauli come from behind and beat Hertha 4-3 in the DFB Pokal a few years ago. One of the best matches I've ever been at. Tend to find that the only people who don't like Germany are those who've never been there.

Did they really ditch Sessegnon and keep Cattermole, Vaughan and Gardner ? Long live Di Fanti !
