At least Freddy would have splashed the cash to get the punters in.
So will Ashley. But he'll also sell Tiote, Enrique or Ben Arfa in August.
-
Nah, we got great money for a decent player who could quite easily go either way. Has the potential yes, but is also a bit of a bloody idiot. Could quite easily end up in jail rather than the greatest striker to walk the Earth.
Are you Mike Ashley, Derek Llambias or Carroll's agent?
-
You're missing the point, I'm asking why Carroll would have submitted a transfer request if he didn't want to go.
Because it was made clear that he wasn't as much wanted as the £35M.
-
How could he have made Carroll hand in a transfer request though? It doesn't make sense.
It makes perfect sense. Now the club can come out of this pretending they didn't want to sell him. It's PR.
Sure there's no force involved, but does it really have to be? On the one hand, you're asked to leave. On the other hand, you have an offer to triple your wages.

Pardew may be telling the truth, fits in with Carroll's statement as well. Too many people looking for a reason to blame Ashley.
It fits far too well with Ashley's earlier behaviour to not blame him. He always sells the best players towards the end of the transfer window, failing to replace them.
-
Fact is though, he got a new contract in November. To me we shouldn't even need to offer a new contract as if Carroll was not happy with the terms of the contract then he could of made it drag longer and longer until he got what he felt he deserved. i.e. Steven Taylor did that
Another fact is that when he signed the contract, he didn't know the club evaluated him as a £35M player.

100 pages in this thread the last 24 hours. Not bad.

The squad is now significantly weaker. A win for the club's owner, perhaps, but not for the club.
-
It's a mystery.

He's just so incredibly Tottenham in his cuntishness. Selling his highest valued player at the end of the transfer window. Milner, Given and now Carroll.
All 3 handed in transfer requests.
And? We're still a selling club.

Don't be so fucking oblivous. This is the Mike Ashley Media Circus. AC9 would never have sent in a transfer request unless he knew that we wanted to accept a bid like this and MA probably asked him, so he could show that he rejected a bid and put the blame on Andy.
This shit is on MA, and for 35-40 mill, I actually dont blame the greedy fucker, the fat bastard cant handle it.
So Carroll agrees to make himself look the cunt because Ashley says so? How is anyone this stupid?
Because he's no longer a Newcastle player.
-
He's worth more to us than to anyone else, so there's really no point in selling him.

Huseklepp off to Serie A and Bari.

Almost feels like a loss.

Decent shot, that.

Oh, Enrique being too good for his own good.

18m is too high for Bent bid, this player is not worth anywhere near that much money
If someone's willing to pay that (or 24m even), then that's what he's worth.
You're confusing price with value. If someone is willing to pay £24m, then that's what he costs, not what he's worth. By your reasoning, Michael Owen was worth £17m or whatever FFS paid for him, which is evidently untrue.

Yes, or WOAT, as they would say (fixed it).

John Carver has been appointed assistant manager.
(I know, I know, WOAT, but not of five.)

We don't have a better squad now, we just have lower expectations.
