Last season around this time I was just a bit concerned we weren’t getting results and then we turned it on before the World Cup. Where as this season I’m confident in our destination.

V West Ham we pushed up needlessly late and got punished. V Wolves we looked gassed the entire 90 and nearly got out of there with 3 points but some collection of errors and we conceded. Last night we looked like the team of 21/22 and 22/23 that could over power anyone.

He’s absolutely class. He’s going to be one of the top wingers in the league in a few years time. I’m convinced of it.

Are we surprised he flipped when it didn’t go his way yet didn’t offer a single ounce of reasoning?

Which is why I loved yesterday that much more - the defensive strength and the decision making was spot on to protect the lead and they were flying around the pitch making tackles and disrupting play. To do that versus Arsenal was all the better.

Genuinely think he’s gone up another level this season. I truly think he’s a top 3 CB in the PL league. He’s surely one of the best ball playing ones in football right now.

The fact we’re here with the injuries we have against the top end of the PL + progressing to the QF in the league cup after playing both Manc sides and are battling in the CL is just really impressive.

Our next midfielder has to be a 6 or has to be as close to a 10 as possible. The issue is we have a fully stocked midfield engine room with Longstaff, Joelinton and Willock all excellent 8s in Eddie’s system. We have Bruno who is our best 6 and arguably a top 8 but with massive ? Over his athleticism to play the 8 role here (I suspect Howe sees this; it worked Bruno’s first half season here but we didn’t press nearly as much then). We have young Miley and Anderson knocking on the door and it’s our duty to keep developing them. Last but not least we have Tonali who is a 6/8 hybrid with far better athleticism than Bruno but not as good creatively. I’ll maintain that a Neves or true on DM seems to make the most sense for us and should be used situationally. We look a different beast in our energy when we’ve got Joelinton, Longstaff and Willock playing together.

Sure I can. I look at those 3 fixtures and say for 70+ minutes we had it spot on, and over time Howe will continue to iron out the issues that lead to those points dropped via tactics, players signed in future, tweaks in system etc.

Had we kept our heads v Liverpool, West Ham and Wolves we’d be first place right now. There’s absolutely something about this team, like. How it equates over the rest of the season is obv anyone’s guess but I’m 100% behind this process.
