Fwiw i looked this up, verbal promises mean nothing unless written into the FA/Premier League Standard Player Contract and registered. FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (Art. 2 & 18) also require all terms to be in writing and lodged with the association. So if Newcastle verbally promised Isak a new deal and didn’t deliver, he’s got no legal case — only soft pressure via media or agent. This is something that is unique and specific to football. Obv specific release clauses and all that could come into play, but it doesn’t appear he has one. Would love anyone who’s an agent or football lawyer to confirm.
