I will keep using the Suarez thing as perfect example what the media darlings of Liverpool are gifted over us. Regarding Suárez, he made it clear he wanted to leave for CL football and abroad, then changed tune to Arsenal. Liverpool’s response? They dug their heels in. Brendan Rodgers told the world they wouldn’t strengthen a rival, even made Suárez train away from the group for a bit, and refused to sell. The media called it ambition, defiance, and the hallmark of a big club. They were praised for protecting their top talent and showing they meant business. Fast forward to now and the media aren’t calling it ambition. They’re framing it as inevitable that we’ll sell, almost willing it to happen, as if we can’t possibly match Liverpool’s resolve. It’s a double standard, plain and simple. When a cartel 6 club refuses to sell, it’s strength; when Newcastle does it, it’s stubbornness. We should ignore the noise. If Liverpool were right to keep Suárez, then we’re right to keep Isak. This is about protecting our ambitions, not feeding theirs. Yes, times have changed and social media amplifies the noise, agents play the press better, and player power is stronger than ever - but that’s exactly why our club has to hold its ground. If you cave because the headlines are louder, you’re telling every player they can force a move by stirring things up behiod the scenes. Newcastle’s finances, ambition, and contract control put us in a stronger position than Liverpool had in 2013. It’s a tricky spot for Eddie, the board and the dressing room, especially given how unprofessional Isak has been over the last few weeks, but that makes standing firm even more important for me.

Have loved Griezmann for some time, wish we could have seen him play for us

Every fucking player makes mistakes.

He had Fonseca and Conceciao as managers until Max this summer. Could use some stability?

Think it’s as simple as Howe has told him he wants him part of the squad and NUFC. isak doesn’t want to play for NUFC right now and has elected to pull himself out of Asia trip and the sela cup. isak won’t be training with the team unless he’s commited to NUFC. isak won’t be training with the team until he’s also accepted by the team and group. board have either told him or his agent he is not for sale - particularly for he and his team’s antics.

Huge + for me is he appears to play both left and right centre back

ya prob something that wider social media, talk sports etc would do well pointing out if they weren’t just looking for engagement and clicks. This harassment by every single social account in footie about us and the “rejections” is toxic and really poor. I’m saying this less so for myself but I worry how that impacts the mind of a kid who’s new to the social media and how they could get internet or personally bullied by assholes with shit football opinions not rooted in fact.

Be nice if we can sign an attacking style midfielder, striker in Wissa and get isak to stop sulking and rejoin the team.

That was filth. -
mate you seem to have such an angry tone to every one of your posts and seem to want to bash anyone who’s trying to have any type of an optimist opinion on this deal.
-
There’s a fine balance between having an opinion and acting like a know it all with very little substance but moaning for the sake of it. Some of this is good fun debate but some of this shit is so insufferable it’s laughable and stupid.

Not that we need reminding of this - but feel like it's worth pointing out that Liverpool were 7th in '12/13 w/ no UCL. Suárez had ~3 yrs left on his contract + disputed £40m clause; Arsenal bid £40m+£1, Liverpool said no despite his desire to leave, and kept him for '13/14 (finished 2nd). They then sold him when they were ready to Barca in '14. Isak in '25 has no clause, has ~3 years left on his contract and we have UCL this year - we're within our rights to expect and hold on to our best players and sell them when we are ready to do so - just as they did then. So their fans who can’t fucking look up history or think of history at their great honorable club, need to get a life.

150m has never been unreasonable. Anyone saying so in the press is fucking stupid like. It’s world class money for a world class striker with 3 years left on his contract at the age of 25. He doesn’t just score tap ins or penalties only, he scores big goals in big games versus some of the best defenders in the world. Thats why the price is higher than most. Further, given the lack of quality strikers in football today the demand for his talent is limited to only a few clubs who can afford him; again further driving the price up. You could argue it should be far more, as it’s showing it would require Newcaslte to spend 100m+ to find 2 strikers to give similar output in goals on paper.

Send him to Holland or Germany on loan to wise up playing more regularly. Raw talent is there he just needs game time. Needs to score 15 goals somewhere.
