  1. The club is utterly f***ed if that's the case. The best time for Ashley to get out is now and surely he recognises this. Hopefully the folks at Dentons are advising him to get it done and laying out the risks associated with his valuation if he doesn’t sell, doesn’t invest, and gets relegated / Rafa walks. He’ll be losing over 150m+ on that 400m he wanted so dearly.
  2. I would assume so, it's a premium price and I imagine that detail would have been leaked by now.
  3. It will depend on what else he's working on and if he's already working for someone else on another deal under an exclusivity agreement. Unlikely I would guess so probably involved. The firm working for Ashley advised Sir John Hall on his sale to Ashley. Surely use of these two particular firms shows just how serious both parties are about making a deal. He is according to legalweek.com - very reputable legal news site. Not sure if it show's up or not so copy and pasting link contents here: This was on legalweek.com this morning - http://www.legalweek.com/sites/legalweek/2017/11/21/freshfields-and-dentons-up-front-on-takeover-bid-for-newcastle-united-fc/

Is there anything out there in terms of past history with being last in the Champo at X date like X out of X teams get relegated or something? Just curious to see if there's any facts out there on their monumentally shit season.
  6. It's actually an incredibly shrewd clause to force Ashley to make a decision quickly and face reality - his lack of investment over these years, esp the past few transfer windows can come back to bite him again if he doesn't get a deal done.
  7. Not surprised at all that PCP wouldn't want to pay Ashley a handsome profit for running the club bare bones, weak below average playing squad, dated facilities, poor commercial deals free advertising and control of merchandising to SD.
  8. Pissing contest between Dentons and Freshfields funny to me that this got picked up by Legalweek Dentons represented the Hall family when the club sold to MA in 2007.
  9. Always felt this was what would be best for Newcastle United as owners who invest in city, infrastructure and surrounding area generally spend a good amount on the pitch and all areas of club.
  10. That was my feeling [emoji106] Who has the exclusive/what does this mean? No buyer has the exclusive to this deal currently. But it means that the Seller has an agreement on price and most terms in place with Buyer and is legally bound to the contract to only work on the deal with the Buyer and not solicit any more offers or negotiate with anyone else. Oh I see. Got too excited there! Yeah I would be excited if the word came out that a price is agreed and PCP is working exclusively on the deal. Would mean they are working on a contract and working to a closing date. Deal could still fall out of contract for various reasons but would have to likely be material in nature that it would harm the economics of the deal or someone defaulted on their obligations and covenant (like misrepresenting information etc). You’d assume the heavy up front diligence would mitigate this.

  12. That was my feeling [emoji106] Always within context of we have to deal with MA!
  13. Getting the exclusive generally means price agreed and agreement will be in place / contract negotiating. Would be fucking excited if I heard that.
  14. Well you just have to look at the history of Amanda Staveley’s business dealings and the capital funds she represents, Middle Eastern mostly and Far East. She’s getting involved in a very high profile and public business that is football so her success will have a massive impact on her career and her ability to raise money / funds for further investment in the future for PCP and the funds and AUM of the firm. Just don’t think any sound business group getting involved into PL football would spend £300m+ to buy a football club and not further invest into it to grow and be successful. You may do something like that for a £80-100m clubs in lower leagues or something to park money, but not for a PL club. But if I’m going to be worried about the source of funds I’d be VERY concerned about the country of origin / company and hopeful that their money isn’t controlled by government policy (China) or subject to having assets seized or something with unrest or crack down on corruption etc.
  15. Of course they are. I'm surprised some are thinking the debt may be outside the price. Same here. Actually thought it was obvious. Guess not?
  16. Nobody’s mentioning the debt because it’s factored into what Ashley’s all in of 250m from Sky interview (or whatever) and these offers have to be inclusive of everything IMO.
  17. The entire thing obviously hinges on what type of money is behind the bid as majority and their view of this. I believe we’ll be pushing for European places with this owner based on the reputation of AS and the stable of capital partners her firm works with/for. There’s absolutely no reason to park money in a PL club and not spend (do worse than MA) it degrades the overall value of your asset; if the new owner doesn’t spend their purchase will be an absolute waste.
  18. In the Hardy article they mention Far East Investors possibly? Interesting.
  19. Sub 300m up front, 300m over installments but has to get deal done quickly (for Jan window) that will help club invest in players and finish higher up the table etc. The risk/reward for Ashley is he can take a nice number now, or take 300m (+/-) later over installments. His lawyer said they'd be willing to take installments to get a deal done - assuming these contingencies are and will cause him heartburn.
