Our CEO seems to think playing in Europe is a realistic and good result for the season. Spurs sold a £100m academy grad and have much higher revenue income than us over the last 10-15 years. They could cope with 1 season out of Europe easily and have invested aggressively this season - despite selling the academy grad and not qualifying for Europe they still have a higher net spend than us. Not qualifying for Europe would impact us adversely in the market.

We've only signed 2 players for real top dollar (Isak & Tonali). For strikers there's a premium as well.

This type of transfer - if it goes wrong you would be happy to break even from a FFP perspective.

I've since learnt Keegan and Cole simply had a falling out. That was the main driver of the transfer. Not some grand plan to improve the squad. These lot won't make an emotional decision one way or the other.

Our rivals will hotly contest any fee from Saudi. He earns too much money to move to a midtable Spanish side unless he moves for free. IMO anyway. MLS is an option but how much would they play? £10m? Murphy is rumoured to earn close to £1m less than Miggy annually. Which makes him easier to sell for a fee. And he's not as important to us as Miggy on the pitch.

Looks VERY one footed from what i've seen of him. He does that thing Miggy does, where he makes shots more difficult for himself because he's going with his left rather than using the right. But he also looks very exciting.

Even less than Man U & Liverpool & Arsenal. They've all got multiple squad players they could sell for £15m+ from the academy.

That it's entirely plausible we wanted to see if Joelinton could run it off as a calculated risk. Not too long ago Schar started a match that ITKs on twitter said he wouldn't play due to injury. Lo and behold he starts the match and limps off within 20 minutes. That was another calculated risk IMO. We played Murphy with a dislocated shoulder. We seem to take calculated risks with players fitness.

One thing Spurs are lacking is a productive academy. The rest of the top 6 can shift youth players on young players for a lot of money. Spurs can't at the same level.

Solanke would cost more than it cost clubs to get Kudus or Palmer. Or any first-choice LB. Or any first-choice CB. And 90% of DM options. It doesn't make any sense.

The top 6 lead isn't insurmountable. It just needs smart investment over 5+ years. By that, i include commercial deals, academy, new stadium, and player sales. All this is possible it will just take some time.
