  1. Hoping for a big year from this lad.
  2. Bruno is already our playmaker though. We need other genuine attacking options. Yeh Ashworth had influence over all footballing matters. But recruitment was not his job. What’s hard to understand? I didn’t say he will be no good. I said I don’t think he’ll be as good as the man he’ll eventually replace. I had no personal attachment to the lad. Sure he’s a good player.
  3. Can’t sell Miggy. He’s epitome of Howe-ball.
  4. Not too fussed about Szo. I think he’s the Salah replacement and I don’t think he’s Getting the 25-30 G/A Salah has got year In year out.
  5. Why? Tonali isn’t that player. For the 10000th time. Ashworth was not the driving force behind Brightons recruitment.
  6. BenRahma and Cornet In reserve is not bad at all.
  7. Aye that’s fairly unique. Most lowly extremely 2 footed. Obafemi Martins probably the most 2 footed player to Grace our club.
  8. We were meant to have signed one in January.
  9. No DM needed. Both Tonali and Bruno can play deepest in midfield. Joe and Longstaff are defensively shrewd and physical. We need players to unlock defences.
  10. I just wish Saudi would buy Lewis, Hendricks and co. for a combined £30m.
  11. It’s that spending gives you a greater margin for error isn’t it? We have to better than them
  12. The actual ‘profit’ doesn’t matter to FFP. If we sell Bruno G for 80m next season, he’ll only have £18m left on the books cost. That would be a £62m boost in FFP for a year. That would cover the cost of £120m worth of transfer fees for a season assuming they all got 4 year contracts. If we are going to stick to FFP and not find loopholes - we’ll be forced to sell until we our revenues catch-up. That’s a major reason for the Garanf and Minteh purchases.
  13. Spurs will spend more than £120m. Aston Villa will spend more than £120m. IMO we will need to keep pace with them to keep our momentum. We don’t need to outspend them, we can be smarter. But there’s only so long you can do that before you neee to genuinely keep pace with wage budgets and transfers.
  14. I don’t mean do what they’re doing forever. But we’ll need to sell players for big money at some point to continue to invest. If we can’t inflate sponsorship, hack FFP in some way or continue to outperform our wage budget we’ll need to sell. Liverpool sold Suarez and Coutinho and used that to reinvest. Our reinvestment will only be limited by FFP not the actual sale value. And like Liverpool once our revenues are up there with the elite we won’t need to sell. Villa are able to invest at a massive rate (beyond the fees received for the players) because of selling academy products for big bucks is great for FFP.
  15. No idea tbh. I hope around £200m. We’ll need to just keep pace.
  16. If we are to abide by FFP we need to adopt a model similar to to the RB teams and Dortmund. Eg buying young players and selling high. Once you get a couple £70m sales you can really have fun. I think we spend a lot of money in this window anyway.
  17. Villa have also sold £120m worth of academy player in the last 2 years which is a massive help with FFP.
  18. Eriksen has never had legs. Which is why Poch didn’t play him as a CM.
  19. Mount plays with no style or swagger. Doesn’t look like a top player. but at his best he scores goals, creates goals does everything a manger asks. He’s going to go for a lot of money. I always preferred Maddison because HG has more ability on the ball and is more enjoyable to watch. But I reckon most top managers would prefer Mount because of the off the ball work he does.
  20. Doesn’t have the technical ability. Or the close control. I think what boosts Rice appeal is that he could probably play CB and 8 if needed. Likewise with Havertz he can play in that 8/10 position Odegaard and Xhaka played last season. He can play off either wing. He can play false 9. I don’t think either are coming in to strictly play DM or striker. Havertz isn’t even a striker.
  21. It sounds outlandish. But she has infinitely more experience in that side of the game than you or me. So how you can know for sure in a game as crooked as football, I don’t know. She was right in the sense that the City bid was at best fanciful and at worst weird. If they really wanted him, they would have him. So what was that all about? Also what you are saying isn’t what she’s saying. She’s not artificial raising the price. She’s coaxing her club to come closer to the price that the selling club will sell for.
  22. Rice is class. But not £110m class. For that money you would want a higher ceiling imo. But he’ll do well.
  23. Same reason as Newcastle. Money. Stoke had some class players. It’s a shithole.
  24. I meant jinky but that works.
