Blown out was the wrong phrase. But if this was a boxing match you could predict we would be busy but Man Utd would land far more effective punches. We haven’t been the better team. We’ve been beaten off the back foot easily. How have Wilson and Miggy finished this game? -

We have not. We are like Amir Khan vs Canelo. Lots of touches and movement. But a lack of firepower and class. Blown out. -

Casemiro’s reputation after 6 months in England is greater than his all time great run in Madrid. Weird. Kante isn’t really a DM but he’s the best ball winner ever probably. Busquets is the best at what he did but that would only work at Barcelona style systems. Casemiro has always been a more rounded player who would perform better in many other styles of team and now he’s proving it. Is Schar concussed? He’s one of those CBS who gets beaten in the air fairly frequently and I’ve always hated that. He’s been elite this season but get me another 6’4 CB or one with the Ramos/Silva type leap. -

Pope probably saved it but no blame to Karius. Sliced open fat too easily. -
He doesn't believe in himself. On a free transfer he could end up at Man Utd or Spurs.
-
Garnacho is a talent. Im annoyed how Antony is basic and very much like Miggy. But just a better player.
-
Running around like he Ngolo
-
Been given the runaround by every decent team they’ve faced in Europe. Lost in the league Clasico too.
-
They look so much better in this setup
-
Softest penalty you’ll ever see.
-
?? With the possible exception of AWB & Sancho - is that not their strongest team available?

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
The College Dropout replied to Rich's topic in Football
Not saying he's shit. And that Liverpool ball was great. But he's not the type to get the ball in the middle of the park against a low block and thread balls through the lines. I think Odegaard is brilliant at picking the ball up in the final third and getting the ball into super advanced positions or into the box. Likewise Partey, Modric and Bruno G are great at progressing the ball from the middle to the final third. Even Isak is good at getting the ball on the half-turn in the final third to help get the ball into the box or deep down those sides through running. And he's not a creative passer like Bruno F or Maddison. From what i've seen Gordon is more of a transition player. I think that's how the Liverpool chance was created. He won the ball(?) or somehow Liverpool lost the ball, Gordon run direct and played a great ball into Wilson. Point is, he's not a progressive or creative passer. -

He won't. -
The primary reason they've been spending less in the transfer market is the renovations to the Bernabeau have cost close to 1bn euros. It's that simple. You can take that spending spree into consideration, they're still in the black (or close) for net spend. Then compare that to Arsenal. There's other factors: revenues from TV does not compare to PL, solid business principles, Covid & not being owned by a nation state. They beat Liverpool to Touchameni. Lots of elite clubs wanted Endrick, Vini Jr. as far back to Odegaard and they beat them all - partly down to paying a premium. The idea that they can't compete with other big clubs is simply not true. But my original point is true. They're not winning by simply outspending the competition in Europe, they're operating smarter. Again, that Liverpool team probably cost 2x the Real Madrid team. Don't just regurgitate tired tropes. Actually look at the picture.

They offered that to a team that doesn't need the money, were determined not to lose him let alone sell while Mbappe had 1-year left on his contract. It was never going to be acceped. It was done as a PR move and to unsettle Mbappe and the PSG hierarchy. The real target was getting him for free at the end of the contract - and we know that didn't happen either. They made that 200m euro bid in Aug 2021. Including that window, they'e spent 110m in the transfer market with a "net spend" in the hundreds of millions in the last 3 years. Total transfer fees, net spend however you want to calculate it they haven't been outspending their competition in the transfer market. I reckon Liverpool's team cost 2x that of Madrid's last night.
-
Did they end up spending that money? That was a PR move.

That lad is going to be a player. Would love to have him at our club. I like Harvey too. Re: Madrid: I really like that they've built a team based on being really good at all aspects of football. They don't even outspend everyone anymore. Just sensible signings and getting the best youth in the world. 6 of that team came via the academy or were signed as teenagers - that's impressive. They don't get taught to become robots like at City or discarded because they don't fit a narrow profile. You just have to be able to perform and play. It's not great for winning league titles though.

In comparison. Joelinton is hard as nails https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joelinton/verletzungen/spieler/333241

Tbf unless the club was willing to pay the gap in wages, i'm with Fraser on this.
-
Never rated Fraser as a NUFC player. Slow. Rarely shows any quality. But I reckon it's perhaps his attitude away from the match day that is the cause of him being frozen out and moved to the U21's. Murphy seems a canny lad in the dressing room and I think he has more ability than Fraser at this point in their careers. Being good vibes has earned some players millions in this game.
