Monitoring the market is going well.
-
It's mostly for Barca tbf
-
Loan-to-buy. The funds will be guaranteed next year. Likely Everton circumventing FFP ala Mbappe from Monaco. But it's for Che Adams
-
I don't know what he did specifically but Charnley was responsible for the day-to-day running of the club that finished midtable 3 seasons in a row. That woul be considered a good job by his employer. I don't know what more you want to know. His boss was happy enough with him for 7 years. He hit the targets he was set more often than not. 1) prem survival 2) keep the heat off MA 3) do it all on a shoe string
-
Finishing 17th or above. Again - that's what the owner was aiming for and that's what the resources were aimed towards.
-
Kept the team in the PL most of the time (comfortably in the main too) and straight back up (easily) when we went down. Also took all (a lot at least) the shit for the Owner. That was the MO of the job according to the Owner.
-
It's such a bad move for them. He's a luxury central midfielder essentially. Positively - he's a "the streets won't forget" level baller on his day.
-
Absolutely not. The fat bastard. He's the type of player from the top 6 you don't want. Jonjo Shelvey with more ability. Doesn't have the application and maybe not the athleticism/endurace to become a top player.
-
I like him but the lad is mad of glass.
-
Yeh probably. I feel as if the likes of Roma are able to attract a higher calibre of player than us. The have more recent and bigger history of European football but I think if we cold at least match them for Europa football, we could compete for the same level of player.
-
key point being - with the boss and resources he had. His job was to keep NUFC in the PL with the limited resources he would be given. And when we eventually get relegated - ensure we come straight back up. His job was never to get us into the top half or anything like that. In that context, with a fanbase the size of ours with some self-respect you have to hire "yes men" managers. Even though he hired them, I do think he was better at his job than the likes of Kinnear (I think this was Lambeezy era) and Carver as football managers. I know he was definitely a puppet & shield for Ashley. But i'm certain Ashley did little to run the club in terms of legwork and nobody else was hired to do it. So the little legwork that was done by the club, I assume, was mostly done by Charnley. More than anything - the fact he was kept around for some time under the new regime suggests he wasn't Brucey levels of incompetant. Probably isn't much of a compliment that.
-
Tbh I think Charnley did a decent job - with the boss and the resources that he had. The fact the new leadership kept him around for a little bit shows he has some competence. Forest don't even have a shirt sponsor.

These are tghe types of deals we can tap into once we are in Europe.

PAY FRENKIE.

It's crazy. Real have been frugal and are infinitely better managed and not spending this type of manner
-
INteresting take. I thought Konsa was the better defender and Carlos cost a bom

Pep's made Grealish into such a boring player.
-
Looking into it a bit more. I'm certain Saka is keeping his options open regarding his future and is leaning towards an exit. He's reportedly on 30k-75k. Less than the likes of Eddie Nketiah. I hope he stays at Arsenal and develops into a class RW/RF. He could see him going to City and becoming a very useful utility man or fullback which won't make the most of his talents. I love his application.
-
They were in for Raphinha who also plays RW. Saka is still just 20 years old and he's played over 100 games in the last 2 seasons for Club and Country - they need to avoid burning out the lad. He is also likely to leave (imo) next season if they don't get CL football. So it's protection and succession planning.
-
touche. At one point McNeil looked England bound tbf.
-
When I google search "Pogba attitude" - it's just the likes of Souness & Barnes complaining and a few saying his attitude is actually good. Search "Rabiot attitude" and there's a long list of actual controversies throughout his career.
-
With the momentum we have now - it would feel like a missed opportunity. I think we are 2-3 away from being a really useful team.
-
For the 1000th time. Nobody is going to spend £15m on a 0 G/A attacking midfielder. No, FFP is a cartel. All that needs doing is to ensure owners will personally/professionally underwrite the losses. FFP is there to stop new Chelsea, PSG & Man City's. If FFP was about protecting football clubs - they would prevent leveraged takeovers that take profitable clubs into huge debts.
-
Said it in the other thread. A major goal of the season is to get sponsorships, commercial deals and such that navigate the FFP rules smartly.
