Just started watching. About five players on the pitch that I’ve never heard of. Who are these players?
-
And by far their best and most consistent player is an almost 50 year old defender.

Those 25% will be worth about a penny in a years time unfortunately the way their economy is going.

What happened in 1958? Came across this video. The greatest icon in sports.

Every time I watch highlights of Pele I get more and more impressed. The greatest of all time debate can go on, but he’s without a doubt the most complete footballer ever. Guy could do everything, even played goalkeeper four different times and never conceded. Also, in other Pele related news: Conmebol has apparently ordered a minute of silence for every game of the Libertadores until and including the last round of 16 (weird moment to stop it). In addition, Infantino suggests that Fifa will recommend that every nation names a stadium after Pele (highly doubt Argentina or even European countries will do that) and the Port of Santos (the largest port in South America) will be named Porto Pele.

Rarely watch Villa and find Douglas Luiz underwhelming every time I watch him, but Arsenal tried to sign him, Aston Villa refused to let him go. Is he actually any good?

What a delightful goal!

Vini Jr once again racially abused by opposition fans. Post-match he criticized La Liga and the La Liga president then called him out and defended the league saying they are heavily against racism despite no punishment being given out to anyone this season. Spain are like large parts of South America still unbelievably openly racist. Sad to see.

would’ve taken four points from the last two before the games.

Lovely tribute to the King!
-
His arm was glued towards his body? Or did I only see a bad replay?
-
Didn’t expect Casemiro to come into the PL and just boss it. Damn.
-
This handball rule is so poor. No way he got advantage from it.
-
Bought Cunha who is the opposite of a goalscorer, but his workrate might create chances for the rest.
-
Think their team looks pretty balanced tbh. A lot of talent, and Casemiro and Eriksen were great signings. Really need one of Sancho or Antony to fulfill their full potential and they’ll be CL regulars. More faith in their team going forward than the other teams outside the top 3 (City, Arsenal and us)
-
Well deserved, bet Froggy wanted him gone for free a few months ago.
-
I mean, both are 22 years old and clearly talented. If I was picking one player today it would be Antony only based on Sancho’s performances for Man United. In a year we might be looking at two huge flops though. Man United are a weird club, even Rashford looked inept for a while.
-
I mean Antony has as many goals as Sancho had in a full season already. Antony started decently, but it’s like his confidence or something has gone out or he just never recovered properly from his injury pre-World Cup. Sancho for the all so called ”ability” has looked shite for most parts of the past 18 months.
-
Antony looked a proper footballer at Ajax, but here he looks like a futsal player still trying to figure out how big the pitch is.

Didn’t know about this. Chronicle published an article on this: “Pele suddenly decided to turn it on. He scored three fantastic goals in about 15 minutes.” https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/pele-newcastle-united-brazil-legend-13124607?utm_source=linkCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar

The legacy Pelé leaves behind is enormous, but I still can’t stop thinking of what Brazil as a country would’ve been like without him. We are considered the country of the beautiful game despite not inventing the sport, nor being the best at it since 1970’s. For 12+ years he enchanted the world, but also created the legend of the yellow shirt and inspired future generations of talent. Before him there was no Brazil in world football, and actually quite possibly no world football the way we know it today. The first and only King of the game!

Created a thread. Not sure if Maradona got one, but we don’t have an Argentinian on here.
-
Descanse em Paz As the resident Brazilian I felt compelled to create this thread. Discussions of whether he was the greatest ever will exist forever. However, his impact on the game was and is eternal and he’ll never be forgotten.
