    RIP sale thread.

Hope this is true. Loaded, and a very clever man by the looks of it.
  2. I wouldn't say its being picky considering we know there are other bidders. If we are well run, then it doesnt matter about the other clubs. If every club in the league was well run then we would be most likely to win it, because us well run would generate more cash, and be a bigger attraction to players than anyone else. I wouldnt say any of this is arrogance in the slightest. Not sure how you're even making that conclusion. Its not arrogant to expect a better owner than someone who made a fuck up of the club in the past. The lower divisions have more clubs who have spent beyond their means and are doomed to financial problems for years until the sort it out.
  3. So the only way forward is an idiot in charge spending money we don't have in the name of 'ambition'. If the club is well run, then we won't be in this league for long anyway and we'll go back up better for it, rather than still a joke club who spunks ridiculous sums on players who arent good enough.
  4. Not really, because this club can generate more cash than those clubs.
  5. Leeds and Dundee United on the train.
  6. Shepherd would be terrible. I would much rather take a chance on somebody else. We would be very very unlucky to end up with someone worse than Shepherd again. What if there is no other option? If theres no other option other than to die as a club, of course I would take Freddy back. However, from reports it seems like there ARE other options. We don't know how ambitious they will be though. With Shepherd you know he will set his sights on a return to the Prem and will make the funds available to do it. After Ashley, I'm very nervous about the motives of foreign investors unless they are minted. I would rather see the club safe and well run tbh. With that we will progress on and off the field at the correct pace. If we are well run we will get promoted anyway. Shepherd plunging us into more dept and making a fool of himself holds no attraction to me, especially considering how bad his decision making has proven to be in the past. You can be well run AND ambitious you know. This club can be both considering the potential it has to generate money. I would rather two years in this division sorting ourselves out, than spunking a load of cash we don't have up the wall and Shepherd strutting around making more ridiculous decisions in the Premier League. We would most likely end up back at square one the Shepherd way. How anyone can trust the fat c*** is beyond me. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Two years "sorting ourselves out" in the Championship is not the way to go for a club this size. We have to show our intent and make sure we are giving ourselves the best chance of blazing back into the Premier and we need an owner with the ambition to go for it. And you think Shepherd is the best man for that, despite his past failure? What past failure??? FFS 16 years spent mainly in the top half of the PL, cup finals, european qualification 13 (i think) times. You don't know your born man. Patronising bollock that. There was wrong decision after wrong decision post 2003. The man totally lost the plot and made a fool of himself on TV nearly every week. There may have been worse chairman before him, and Ashley may have been worse since, but that doesnt mean Shepherd is the right man to take over now.
  7. No they weren't, however we had a good manager to pick the players then. When Shepherd started picking the players and appointing shit managers to spend the cash, it all went to pot. His decision making was terrible. I can't believe as many people are sticking up for him.
  8. I would probably look at Shepherd as stupid rather than ambitious. Throwing money at the wrong people isnt ambitious, just utter stupidity and totally risky.

Probably, but Ashley is a terrible example of doing it that way. He didn't practice what he preached and has made shocking decisions. We were anything but well run. There arent two ways of running a football club, the Ashley way and the Shepherd way. Boths are fuckin shit ways to run a football club.

  14. I think the most likely source is Seymour Pierce because the BBC story contains both sides of the equation, Shepherd's bid and the likelihood that Ashley will accept. The brokers are the only ones who would know both parties positions. Also, if people know that Shepherd is close to a deal, other bidders (if there are any) would be more likely to get a move on.
  15. Wonder what odds I would get on the return of Ashley in another two years. Why does nothing good ever happen at Newcastle United. Only we can go from a totally shit owner, to the worst owner ever, back to the totally shit owner again. What have we done to deserve this?!
  16. I thought the TU were just lads who liked to go to games and sing. When did they become so organised? Does it really need to be?

    RIP sale thread.

Story in the Mail saying that Ashley has recieved an offer for the club tonight.
  19. But if people have proved this already and then surely they didn't have to wait till everyone had before they allowed access, surely they can given individual access. Basically it sounds like we're a joke again. Just going off what David Craig said.
  20. Apparently its an online version of the clubs books. People or groups who have proved they have the cash to buy the club can look at the books before finalising their bid for the club.
  21. As long as its in the north that is. ha
  22. I love the Boxing Day away games.
  23. I'd rather not have Shearer if it meant Shepherd was coming back.
  24. No. I would be disgusted. Can we not just get someone normal to buy us? It says it all that Freddy STILL can't admit to his mistakes. He still tries to defend his ridiculous management every times he's interviewed.

    RIP sale thread.

I struggle to understand how Newcastle are being fooled. Some mackem twat goes to extraordinary sad lengths to create a joke, the papers jump on it, then its found to be a hoax. Did anyone even bat an eyelid at this 'bid'? Ive just found out about it. Its quite obvious the mackems care more about us failing than their own team.
