SSN mentioned something about Southampton making two big signings, one a £12m striker and I thought they'd signed someone of real quality. Then it repeated in full and... Shane Long.. The blokes played 146 Premier League games and scored 28 goals. Hull signed him for £6m, he plays 17 games for them scoring just 4 goals and Southampton pay £12m for the fucker. Completely and utterly insane.

Those were goals in League One and Two like, but at least his record suggests he's improving so he may step up into the Championship and improve again. Still £5.5m up front with £2.5m addons is a bit over the top.

They would have had a transfer embargo if they hadn't been promoted. But because they were promoted they were fined around £50m (?) instead. I assume the logic is that if they don't get promoted a fine will only make things worse so just stop them buying anyone until they can show they are ok financially. While if they do get promoted they receive £60m minimum extra cash from TV but shouldn't be allowed to benefit straight away due to getting their on false pretenses (pissing money) so its basically taken off them for their first season back. If they spend big now they're going to get fined big again next season, so I doubt we'll see them spending much cash. This is just what I read earlier in the year, no sure how it ended up panning out as I'm sure they will have appealed against the fine.

We are giving them 2 first round picks too. SSN say up to £7m, so its probably £5m plus a possible £2m in addons for the pair. Seems a very good deal for us, considering Pearce has openly said earlier in the year that he thinks Lascelles is worth at least £8m. Their fans were wanting that kind of fee as well.

Bet you could easily get 100/1 for that like. Anyway if these were two big signings I'd agree, but its two young players for £5m combined (?). Assuming we've been told they'll get plenty of games it makes a lot of sense as I doubt they'd get a lot here this season.
