Didn't exactly say they've finance whatever he wants did they? They were pretty conservative when talking about the future, focusing on academy and being a sustainable club with reasonable success over the next 10 years. I'm sure they'll spend money, and it all looks very promising for Man City so far. But they do seem to be playing down all the talk of buying up all the best players for instant success with a money's no object policy that was claimed before they took over.

Oh and One bit you didn't quote that I found interesting: "A lot has happened over the last couple of weeks, we are genuine people, and we want to develop this Club in a sustainable manner. Nothing rash is going to happen, we are not going to do crazy stuff! We will work with Garry and Mark, they call the shots and we are here to support to help build a sustainable Club" A far cry from buying every top player available no matter what the cost.

Just meant the massive majority Dave you pedantic tit 95% then, happy?

Its hardly going to be the case that these guys have just put in there life savings, come up short, and are now scraping around in there saving jars to find the rest though. Considering its a consortium "raising" the last £50 million or so will mean persuading the last member or two the put there stake in. The people involved will all have plenty of there own money left over to invest in whatever they want, be that other projects or more for NUFC. Probably won't happen anyway though.

We spent £35 million net that season, which should have already been enough to see us do very well if it had been spent properly and with a good manager in charge. As it is we spent it on the likes of Boumsong and had Souness in charge No I'd say £75 million net for one season is easily enough to compete with and even out spend 99% of teams in the league, more then enough in fact. We won't be able to out spend Man City this coming window but that shouldn't really be our aim. That kind of money, spent right, would set us up as a major force.

More likley that our Nigerian "Owners" will sell the stadium, players, then escape to the Bahamas without ever been seen again. can't as we don't even own the stadium, council still own's it We do own the stadium, however we don't own the land.
-
That's obviously not all the money they have or they wouldn't be spunking the lot on a overpriced Football club. Its a consortium so its more likely that each member has put in a certain agreed amount to buy the club, but none, or just not all, are willing to pay more for it. So instead they look for more people to invest. Doesn't mean they're all putting their life savings in and coming up short of the asking price.

A buyout fair enough, but the return of Keegan is NOT the way forward. Too much water under the bridge..... three times would be a total joke. I hear what you say about getting the place buzzing again.. but until when? I don't think he was the 100% innocent party in this fiasco - yes, he was made to look a fool, but Keegan is Keegan, and he's ALWAYS ran away when the going gets even slightly tough. If he loved this bloody club as much as he harped on about how he did, then he catergorically would not have walked out, knowing the state this team was going to be left in. He is to blame too for this, although not in the magnitude that Ashley is. Lets face it, as the dust settles, its becoming obvious that it WAS a masterstroke getting Keegan back, but only in the sense that it got season tickets sold, which im convinced was the only reason he was brought back in the first place. Its time to cut the cord and move on - with new owners in place it becomes a bit brighter of a proposition for managers. Its time to stop being so pathetically patriotic, and get a tactically sound foreign coach in - basically what we were crying out for ever since SBR left. Like the wonderful and world famous Juande Ramos?

Rozehnal wasn't here for the second half of last season, that's why I haven't included him. Troisi is in the same league as the likes of Zamblera and Ranger to me as well which is why I didn't include him. Even including the likes of Carr is touch and go I agree we should have strengthened even more though.
-
To be fair the squad's been strengthened as well: Out:- James Milner Abdoulaye Faye Emre Ramage Carr In- Gutierrez Guthrie Bassong Coloccini Xisco Gonzales Even in pure numbers we've strengthened slightly (though greatly in quality). But consider Emre almost never played, Carr never played at all and Ramage was useless the squad has been strengthened quite a bit. Still it could have been so much better had we spent a bit of money on left back and right back cover.
-
Agree appart from having a go at Coloccini. How can anyone expect him to look great in a complete shambles of a defence? When the defenders around him are decent he looks excellent, defending on his own he doesn't, hardly surprising is it.
-
Not wanting our manager to be treated like crap to the point where he walks away is a clamour for swift success? Bunch of fucking clowns just like every other rag out there.
-
How can you compare Cordone to Gutierrez? Guttierez for all his fantastic workrate created the one chance at Arsenal in his first 3 games - Cordone scored on one of his - pretty similar. Being a hypocrite it took me seeing Ginola for 5 minutes to know he was something wonderful. Comparing one goal to one assist doesn't really work, you could do the same and say that Gutierrez compared to Stephane Guivarch , look at the actual performances, Cordone had one good game and even then he didn't play on the level Gutierrez has.

It isn't as if Ashley has just walked into a bookies and said "I bet £300 million that HBOS won't fold" This is part of the the spread betting he's being doing for ages, playing the markets by betting on share prices. This basically just means he's lost value in his ongoing bet recently on HBOS, similar to how people will have lost value in shares. Its also recoverable depending on what the shares do in the future. Which has already happened in fact, he was down over £400 million originally, now he's down just under £295 million with the rescue from Lloyds, for every penny the shares go back up he'll gain back £800,000 and the money doesn't actually have to be paid until the bet has ended, so at this point he's lost absolutely nothing, though of course its not looking good. Its like betting on a game of Football that a team will win a game and that team being 2 down at half time. No doubt its not going well for him at the moment financially though, which doesn't bode well for him accepting a lower offer for the club. Realistically nobodies going to offer over £250 million IMO. I have to admit though its fucking annoying that this bloke seems to be addicted to incredibly risky insanely high roll betting (half a billion betting on shares ffs) yet he wouldn't take a single risk on his Football club.. Why couldn't he just see Newcastle United as one big wager? If he's out for excitement there's no more exciting bet really, put that half a billion in and bet you can make Newcastle the best in the world, get ready for the most exciting roller coaster ride of your life

Dear me what a load of crap, you'd think we have no injury problems at all.

How can you compare Cordone to Gutierrez?

http://www.nufc.com/2008-09html/transfers-keegan.html do the maths. So Keegan spent an average of just over £6 million per season net in his time at Newcastle, what did the likes of Manure, Arsenal, Blackburn ect spend at the time?, similar amounts no doubt. Sorry but while we certainly spent big for the time it was nowhere near Chelsea style spending.
-
I'll take that bet, we can PayPal the amount at the end of the season, £10? Totally agree with MJ by the way, as I've been saying for the last week or so nobody could perform with the kind of injuries we have, Manure have less injuries then us and look how they're under performing. Even 2 or 3 of those players back would make a big difference for us, I mean imagine how much Martins, Beye and Gutierrez would have improved that team today. Also after our next two league games there's an international break again, so hopefully that will give us even more time to get everyone fit, and not cause any further injuries!
-
He didn't have a great game, in a team of poor performers, but was still better then the rest. He can't be really good every game, he's a much better player then Faye though and Gutierrez is a very good player as well.

As I said, he isn't going to write off a penny. Not a penny. Letting us rot (wasting our season) will not lose him a penny. What makes you think it would? It will like, Owen leaving will drop the value of the club by 10-15 million on its own. Then what happens if we get relegated, not that I think for a second we would, but lets say we're left managerless all season and the injuries stay bad, its possible and would quarter the price of the club, or worse. The club is an asset that has a certain value. That value will not be affected by (as I say) letting us rot for a season or two or three. I agree, if we were relegated it would, but I am sure that they will do enough (just enough) to ensure that does not happen. Not really, the value of a Football club can change very easily depending on success, playing staff and revenue and many other factors. As I said Owen going for nowt would chop at least £10 million of the value of the club. Season ticket sales dropping in half next season would drop far more off the value, and it would happen in the case you're talking about. Right now he might be able to get £250 million for us, leave the club to rot for a few seasons and he can forget at least £100 million of that as the likes of Owen, Martins, Given ect leave, the team continually flirts with relegation and the fans either stop turning up almost completely or end up murdering the fucker
-
Don't fall for that subsidise bollocks man. Also have you seen the state of our team at the moment, yes our squad quality has improved a bit this season, but we needed much more. Something Keegan told them no doubt, but Wise and his mates knew better..

Nope Ashley wouldn't risk losing £1.50 to get revenge on Newcastle fans, never mind millions of pounds.
-
Why?, it doesn't fucking go to the club anyway, it goes straight into Ashley's pocket, and don't think for a second his ludicrous sale price will drop by £2 million accordingly either!

Pathetic isn't it, some people deserve the shit that's happening here, fickle tossers the lot. Its just unfortunate that everyone has to suffer along with them.
