Spend the same money on players who have established that there good and nothing more, or wait for players like Turan to prove there quality and then try to sign them for £20 million instead? If our scouts believe he's a player with talent and great potential then we should sign him even for £10 million.

They don't play for Turkey though that's my point. They aren't in there first season in the first team for there club either. Not all managers pick exciting young players so quickly and not all countries can afford the luxury of doing so..

So why are Barca selling him for £4 million? If he's got so much potential then why not develop him and sell for a massive fee, or even keep him and reap the rewards?

Carr and Baba are gone, Emre is basically gone, Rozehnal doesn't want to come back and we don't seem to want him either, and Ameobi's obviously not wanted and could go at any time. The other three I mentioned are just players I would like to go that I think might very well leave. I don't think Smith will get many games under Keegan, Duff's been rumoured to be off for months and Cacapa's getting on and out of contract in 12 months.

I was going to include both Geremi and Viduka, but I'm just not so sure they'll be off, just my opinion of course.

I'm talking about what I consider to be acceptable, wether Owen accepts whatever contract is offered is another matter. Do we need replacements for them when they leave? Put it this way the positions we need to fill this transfer window would be exactly the same wether those players left or not IMO

While technically we can afford it, I agree its far too much to be paying. I think £80,000 would be acceptable IMO and would help the overall saving we're trying to make on wages. Emre gone - £60,000 Duff gone - £50,000 Smith gone - £45,000 Carr gone - £40,000 Owen wage cut - £40,000 Babayaro gone- £35,000 Cacapa gone - £30,000 Ameobi gone - £25,000 Rozehnal - £25,000 £350,000 per week, or £18 million per year saved (obviously the wages are guestimates..). Emre never played, Duff is useless, Smith worse then useless, Ameobi not even a fringe player, Carr useless, Baba played even less then Emre, Cacapa only backup and Rozehnal will hardly be missed having been on loan for the last 5 months. So we're really not losing anything there.. Yet it would drop our current wage bill from £64 million per year to roughly around £46 million.

I always said it was perfectly possible that you heard this rumour from somewhere, doesn't make me any more likely to believe it. Especially when it comes from someone who tries to mislead people.

Erm, so what's the issue. Baggio "came up with" something which has now hit the press. What's he done wrong? The only thing he did wrong, and the main reason I call him a bullshitter, is when he posted those lists. He posted two lists of supposed targets, one for Keegan and one for Vetere, in the same thread as he posted the original rumour. He admitted later they were made up but said they were only meant as examples and never meant to be fact, he just admitted in this thread he posted them deliberately to mislead people.

I'm not going to go and look around for articles. One was posted at a similar time to when you made your original post. If it was after then as I said you probably just heard the same rumour, doesn't mean you should run with it. Or post made up lists to mislead people.

A week later? You mean something similar was printed in a paper about the same time.. Either that's where you got it from or they just heard the same thing, and as the tabloids do, printed it without any need for facts.
