  1. That's not far from the total we'll end up paying him once his contract is up What kind of idiot gives a 27 year old a 5 year contract on £65,000 a week? Especially for a player who's flopped at his previous club and clearly wasn't quite the player he used to be. What a monumental waste of money. As you can tell I'm worried we may not be able to get rid of Mr Duff..
  2. Don't even bother replying to him Mick, pretend he's not there and he'll take his trolling elsewhere eventually.
  3. £11 million for a 27 year old.. seems unlikely.
  4. Harsh! Can't really say... I never saw Hitler play. He was a pacy diminutive mass murderer. So... good finisher, then? Yes, he had fantastic execution.

  6. Ribery looked crap as well though, no end product.
  7. i wouldnt of fancied englands chances against these lot > This Holland v. England would be like Arsenal v. Derby. Nah not really like.. Yeah I agree, it wouldn't be like that either..

    Arda Turan?

Fair enough I've looked at some info and can see that Tuncay played as both a striker and a left winger. Its fair to say that Tuncay's overall goal record in Turkey is a touch better then Turan's at the moment, but I've got no idea what Tuncay's record was at 21 and Turan can only improve..

Are you the chairman of Galatasaray fuchs? 25 million Euro's? He certainly looks an exciting player and one I'd like to see here, but thats funny money mate..

    Arda Turan?

Care to post it? It'd be interesting to read what you said now that Emre's going. Tuncay's a striker while Turan's a winger. Which makes a comparison based on goals very silly.
  12. A reserve player like Lua Lua could come into the first team squad and do just as well if not better then Duff..
  13. Good idea as long as we can find someone willing to pay his full £65,000 per week wages. I suppose the Mackems would probably be prepard to do that given there'd be no fee.

    Er

Maybe it's about not wasting that money, rather than what he can do with it. Just prudency. Every £50,000 counts doesn't it?
  15. I agree they'll try, but if they can't IMO they should let him go even for £2 million. Considering the insane wages he's on that would still effectively make us £12 million. Should we really try to play hard ball so we can come out with £14 million instead and risk having to keep the useless lump?

    Arda Turan?

One of the moves that impressed me most was when he turned a player in midfield and slid a pin point through ball to Tuncay (only for Tuncay's first touch to waste the chance of a one and one with the keeper).
  17. I doubt that's going to happen, I think the money's already there for our main targets.

    Bafetimbi Gomis

One young player with potential, one who's undoubtedly good but not quite the player he used to be and another who looks very good but has so far only played in the Croatian League. At the same time they're going to lose there best player by a country mile. I just don't see how those three transform a squad from similar to ours to a mile ahead? This is a case of people getting caught up in hype IMO. The Spuds get linked with so many players and hyped so much that it gives the impression they've transformed themselves into title contenders every f***ing summer

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Agree with that. you'd also have agreed with it this time last season ? No last year I thought we had a chance of finishing above them. I'm saying at this moment in time, with who they've bought, they ARE a mile ahead of us in terms of quality. I haven't read the Turan thread, but if we're interested in that sort of player that's a good sign and we can also mount a serious challenge for fourth in maybe 2 years. But you can't deny you'd swap their squad for ours right now, surely? Hold on, who have they actually signed? Not just players there linked with, because that's everyone, but players they've actually completed deals for? Two players isn't it? One a young lad who isn't even likely to have any impact next season, if he has any at all. Those two have made there squad change from similar to ours to a mile ahead in your opinion?

    Milner to Liverpool?

I'd take Crouch for £7-8 million but not the insane £15 million Liverpool seem to want.

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Though I think this might get us banned Agree 100%, he doesn't have a single good thing to say about Newcastle United.. I seriously don't believe he's a Newcastle fan, which would be fine if he didn't pretend to be one so he can troll the forum. So yes you have my vote!

    Arda Turan?

He got the ball in basically the last chance of the game with his countries hopes of going any further in the competition riding on what he did with it. Yet he was calm enough and confident enough (at 21) to take it on and get into a shooting position, and strike the ball very well (looked to be heading to the side of the goal to me as well). Was it the best goal of all time?, no. Would it have gone in without the deflection?, quite possibly. Should it be downplayed either way? no. The way I see it he played well despite being hindered by the conditions and scored an extremely important goal for his country, simple as that. He definitely impressed me.

    Arda Turan?

There's a bit of a difference between "the keeper would have had a better chance of saving it without the defection" and "the keeper probably would have saved it without the deflection which means the goal was more about luck then skill". I never would have argued with the former.

    Arda Turan?

Had a decent game, looked lively and scored the winner at the death. Like it being deflected makes any difference. He had an ok game, not bad, but also no wanking material either (as it seems to some). Why do deflected goals not make a difference? Nobody wants to take the goal away from him, but 'keeper would probably have saved it otherwise, so it was less a matter of skills than of luck. 9m is overpriced imho anyway and I can't see any increase of value just based on this performance (which would be ridiculous anyway, even if he had played really well). How the hell do you know? He struck the ball well and for all we know it could have flown past the keeper without any deflection. Because the 'keeper was already diving down in the right direction and the ball didn't have any real pace? It was hardly a wonder strike and I'd be pretty unhappy if the ball would have went in undeflected tbh. The shot had plenty of pace, and while the keeper was diving it was anything but clear that he'd have gotten to the ball. You'd have to spend a while watching the incident from numerous angles to have any idea, you're just making assumptions.
