  1. Actually boby nobody expects Luque to save our season, that kind of thinking is idiotic (of any player) and is the reason why our fans help ruin so many of them. No one player will save our season, its about getting the best collection of players we can on to the pitch on a game by game basis. It just so happens that a lot of people think Luque is one of the players who should be in our team at the moment. If you enterpret that as people thinking that one player is the answer to all our prayers then that's your problem.
  2. Your trying to be funny right?..
  3. Question for a few of you, why on earth should Luque not player??
  4. Throwing money at the situation isn't the answer! I thought everyone would have learned that by now. A decent manager would be able to get far more out of the players we already have.
  5. Troisi and Carroll have had there chance, they've been named on the first team squad, they should have scored by now, lazy bastards!
  6. What Glen means to say is "Luque will be the scapegoat for a beating tomorrow".. He's going to be playing against a team currently top of Serie A with the reserve team around him.. what a great opportunity eh.. EDIT: Well if this squad is correct (and I'm doubtful considering it includes Given and Rossi...) then perhaps Roeder could still put out a decent team: Harper, Krul, Forster, Given, Taylor, Moore, Bramble, Ramage, Huntington, Bernard, Solano, Emre, N'Zogbia, Butt, Milner, Troisi, Pattison, O'Brien, Luque, Rossi, Sibierski, Carroll. I'd be happy enough with: ......................Harper Ramage.. Taylor.. Moore.. Bernard Solano.. Butt.. Emre.. N'Zogbia ...............Sibi... Luque I doubt it though, he'll probably start the kids and play Luque up front on his own
  7. Shola isn't our most likely goal threat for fuck sake.. Sorry but I won't be shedding any tears over this. Not because Shola's so bad that we need him out of the squad, but because Roeder is complerely delusional towards him. Roeder see's Shola as the clubs number 1 striker (well maybe number 2 when Owen is fit). Rossi, Luque and even Martins are behind him in Roeders opinion and this just isn't good for the team. Maybe this will force Roeder to play Rossi/Martins, Luque/Martins or Rossi/Luque instead and when Ameobi finally does come back at least he'll be a better player for not carrying this injury every game..
  8. I have one question, is this forum even serious anymore, or is it some kind of sick parody of itself? It gets more bizarre and idiotic every day. This post was a joke yes?, I'm being seroius by the way, I really want to know if you where joking here before I respond to the comment.

    Obafemi Martins

It is amazing how quickly a player can adapt when he actually gets a run of games in his favoured position. Had we played Martins in midfield and given him his last 3 starts over the course of 4 months I doubt he would have started to adapt so quickly
  10. Why don't you think Luque --- Rossi Nzogbia/Duff--------------------emre----------Parker----------Pattison Babayaro------------------Bramble------------Ramage-------------Solano --------------------------------Given Can do enough to get us at the very least midtable ? If they can't then it's definatly the players fault as they are all of a good enough quality and have played enough Premiership football (bar 1) to get us there. How about the changes I've made above. Have you heard of injuries? bluebigrazz.gif Why have Pattinson on the right when you have both Duff and N'zogbia fit?
  11. We need to actually start playing Football for a start, because at the moment most of our players seem stuck in "Shearer's up front" mode. Luque doesn't need a team built around him, he just needs to be playing in a position he knows and in a team that at least try to play Football. He's not a center forward and never has been, he can play off a good center forward (either as a second striker or as a wing foward in a forward three) or in behind but not in place of one.. His strengths and weaknesses were pretty obvious just from watching the Villareal game (but its been the same in all the games this pre-season). When he was stuck in the box by himself with crosses flying in he looked lost. It was only when he started to drop deep and pick the ball up outside the box that he started to look good. With some clever quick passing, good touches and a couple of good runs. The way I see it no matter what happens we need a top striker here for the new season, I think everyone agrees with that. So the question becomes, do you look for a striker who can work with Ameobi or with Luque? Because IMO depending on the answer you'd be looking for two different players.
  12. Course he has, I for one still think he can be a star for the Toon and he has one year to prove me wrong! so you want him to prove you wrong by not shining? i dont think he'll get much chance to prove himself cos Roeder dosnt look likely to start him unless injuries pop up to other strikers. With Owen returning later in the year, Amebi playing well and the arrival of 1 maybe 2 new strikers the future of Albert at the Toon dosnt look bright unless Roeder gives him a chance but cant see it happening. I for one hope he does get a go but i dont have much say its up to the boss and as long as Newcastle are winning games i wont mind as much who is playing on the pitch but if were losing ill be one calling for Alberts inclusion. Well Roeder has no excuse not to give him a chance now. He's playing well in games and as was seen in the open training session he's doing very well in training, and putting in good effort.
  13. Because he's Northern Monkeys other half mate.
  14. He wasnt to be fair. He was gash and danced around a Mickey Mouse defender and slotted it past a Minnie Mouse keeper. I doubt Luque would be able to skip around Andy OBrien like that. Oh sorry, I forgot how shit Lillistrome's defence was, that's why the likes of Emre, Milner, Shola, N'Zogbia and Solano all scored as well right?... Woosh of the century! I really hope it was, I don't want to see another looney Luque hater on the forum
  15. They all looked shit in all fairness. Lets try to keep the thread serious please

  17. He was our most dangerous player against Lillistrom and scored a excellent goal all of his own making. When he came on against PSV he scored the penalty, had a shot cleared off the line (again he made it himself with a great turn) and put Milner through on goal in the last minute with another excellent peice of skill. Overall he's played very well in pre season.
  18. I do hope nobody actually believes that Roeder really thinks that. Which one of those comments is so unbelievable? The one were Roeder says Luque did well against PSV?, which he did. The one were he says he was encouraged by the performance?.. which is only normal when a player plays well. What is so hard to believe here? Its not as if Roeder just announced to the world that Luque is the best player on the planet and indispensible to Newcastle United or something..
  19. Woosh of the century!
  20. I don't think people are saying that, they just want the lad to have a clean slate so he can have another crack at the whip. On the contrary...... http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,25350.msg474979.html#msg474979 .....and he wasn't the only one. I've changed my mind and I now agree with you 100%, what a player does the previous season is all that matters, current form is utterly irrelivant in deciding wether someone should play for Newcastle......... Seriously, the most important thing when deciding what players to play is form, how the player is playing NOW, not the previous season. If Shola Ameobi started scoring hattricks then the last several seasons of mediocrity would not make a blind bit of difference, he'd play every week in my team. As it is last season we saw Luque start 8 times and make a few short and late sub apearances. Which makes it even more obsured to think that you believe what he did in those games is more important then what he does this season. You've deleveloped an irrational hatred for a player and you're letting it blind you, which is quite typical of a large section of our fanbase. Wouldn't surprise me if you were one of the idiots at St James who were complaining about Luque's goal against Lillistrome.
  21. We didn't get Owen on loan with £10 million to pay the following season though did we, we got Owen for a straight £16 million fee.
  22. If philips helps us go far in the Uefa cup and qualify for Europe again next season then it would be more then worth £10 million from next seasons budget..
  23. Wow, you've seen a striker play part of a game on the left wing and one whole game up front in a World Cup knockout game (his first of the competition). Well that makes you an expert in my opinion, feel free to not only call him shite but to be incredibly childish about it as well, great post!!
  24. Spot on, unfortunately Newcastle United have some of the most ignorant fans on the planet in there ranks. If a new signing doesn't become an instant success there will be calls to sell, sometimes even after only there first game.. its embarrasing to be honest.
