I can't believe that article missed out this quote from Given:

Anyone can be racially abused, its not something exclusive to one race or another..

What's happened to Butt??
-
Something the laugh at today at least
-
I'd go:- ......................Given Solano.. Taylor.. Hunty.. Pattinson/Parker ......................Butt ...............Dyer......Emre ......Milner....Martins.... Luque

What a stupid argument.. If scoring penalties was so easy then teams would just rotate who takes them, there's a reason why teams have a penalty taker. Absolute crap, yeah I'm sure when you take pens in the park against your mates its not that hard. But try taking a penalty with thousands of people watching and putting there faith in you to score what is considered an easy chance.. Try taking a penalty for your country knowing your entire nation is watching you and that the next thing you do will make you a hero or a national target. its anything but easy. If you took 50 pens in Premiership games I'd bet you'd miss 40 of them and so would I.
-
blueyes.gif They really do bully us out of the park. Disappointing after the bright start but I would have taken a draw before the game so it's alright. Must pick up some points at Goodison though, massive game for our confidence/morale. How can they fail when they get every decision going?, cheating cunts.

That's just...... great  Better then having Fatty Fattinson on the bench...
-
That would be a disaster IMO, Emre's tackling is far to weak.
-
Yeah he does do more defensively, though I honestly think he does even less offensively at the moment. I'm not saying he shouldn't be involved mind, I just find myself very un-moved by his return
-
I don't want to turn this into another Luque argument (I know your not trying to, just thought I'd give a disclaimer ). But if Duff is better on both players current form then why has he provided even less then Luque? Duff has scored once and gotten, no assists that I can remember? Even Luque, who has had a disaster, has done more then that in about a quarter of the amount of time on the pitch. IMO both him and Rossi have looked better on the left wing then Duff looked for us before his injury. I mean Duff looks more lively, but seems to have even less actual impact on the game then Luque at the moment. At least he provides some top quality crosses now and again. As I said I'm still confident that Duff can be excellent long term, but at the moment I honestly cannot get even remotely interested in his return.
-
Have people here forgoten how absolutely shit Duff has been for us? I can't remember him providing anything at all for the team or ever looking like he's going to beat a player (appart from a Uefa cup game against almost amatuer opposition). Rossi and Luque have provided more from the left wing then he has. In fact from the way we've played since he's been out he seems to have made our team worse when he was fit.. I'm not righting him off long term, but is his return really something to be optimistic about at the moment?..

How much cash has this bloke got? Must be quite a lot considering the £450,000,000 Liverpool offer but does anyone have any idea roughly how much he has total?
-
Where's the video of Dyer and Bramble doing this though? Rumour is quite different to actual video footage..
-
Dyer isn't in the squad.
-
That might be alright actually... 4-3-3 with actually three strikers, so it's not 4-5-1. And we might see Luque excel there, as it's where he played for Deportivo. Aces. I really doubt it, if he plays that team he'll very likely play 442 with Sibierski on the right..
-
I suppose this is based on Luque actually daring to comment when asked about a possible loan move? You know this really makes me laugh. If Luque says he wants to do well here and is confident he can its bullshit and he shoulf shut his mouth. If he admits his position is becoming pointless and starts to talk about possible moves he's disloyal. If he says nothing then no doubt he's hidding because he's got no heart. People like you completely gave up on Luque's career at Newcastle within games of him signing. But when he starts to give up on what you keep saying is a pointless situation he's a bastard Basically some people just get there knickers in a twist about anything when it comes to Luque, he can score and goal and some will complain about the manor it was scored in.. My team: GK - Given RB - Taylor LB - Babayaro CB - Ramage CB - Bramble RM - Solano LM - Luque CM - Butt CM - Emre CF - Sibierski CF - Martins
-
That's a fair point but Rossi looks a canny player to me. To label him as one of our worst players is wide of the mark imo. This lad thinks Luque's class man. For "master" read "know-nowt". Do you ever shut up about Albert Luque?, your bloody obsessed with him
-
Not according to certain soopafans he doesn't, they saw everything they needed to see the moment he didn't score a hatrick in his first game. You have to understand that some people can judge a player instantly. They don't need knowledge or logic of course, they only need to hear there nearest thick drunk gobshite shouting about lazy spaniards and they just know...... Sheep the lot of them

The difference between the takeovers of West Ham, Villa, Portsmouth and (possibly about to happen) Leicester and the potential Belgravia one is that the first four are being headed by identifiable individuals with an interest either in sport in general, or football in particular. They've said they'd give a £25m budget for January if they took over so I couldn't care if it was a Mackem. If they're going to provide funds for players, I've no concern of who's in the Director's Box every other week. Shepherd always backs his managers with funds though, if you don't care whose in the box then what difference does it make? Because Freddy Shepherd either gives that money to idiots (Souness, Roeder) or just spends it himself and tells the manager he's getting a new player.. I'm pretty confident that a successful company like Belgravia would have a plan of hiring people who actually know about Football to run the Footballing side of the club. Rather then trying to run it themselves like Shepherd does.. I'm sure Shepherd doesn't purposely appoint shit managers. He wants the best for the club as well and in turn wants to make some money, which is fair enough in my eyes. How do you know that the prospective Belgravia chairman won't have equally poor judgement? Grass isn't always greener. Because the Chairman of Belgravia won't be deluded enough to actually believe that he can appoint managers, buy players and make day to day Footballing decisions in general. I'm sure that, unlike Shepherd, Belgravia will be sensible enough to stick to taking care of the financial side of things and appoint a well researched team to control the Footballing side. They won't be stupid enough or egotistical enough to think that they can interfere on the Footballing side, they'll leave that to people with actual Football knowledge. Its all well and good to want the best for the club, but until Freddy Sheperd gets his head out of his arse and realises that he just isn't qualified to run a Football club he'll never be good for us.

They aren't a hedge fund, your thinking of Polygon, an earlier company interested in Newcastle. Also what's wrong with a profit motive?, there's no way of making a profit from a club like Newcastle United other then producing a successful Football team.
-
Oh Christ, another one. Of all the words in the English language you choose the word "class" to describe Luque. Either you've got a very limited vocabulary or no eyes. Or perhaps he's just not an ignorant bandwagon jumping soopafan?
-
Since when does he have a proposed move to Newcastle to think twice over?..
-
The problem is the general ignorance and impatience of a massive section of our fans (some fans wanted Luque gone after his first game FFS!, simply because he wasn't the instant hero they thought he would be). Together with the incredibly amatuer nature of the people who run our club. As well as Luque's lack of understanding/lack of desire to do what a large section of our fans seem to think is the most important role a striker plays, charging around the back four aimlessly. Because, admit it, that's the long and short of it here. Its not that Luque doesn't run into space to recieve a throughball or a cross or that he doesn't come to the ball to link up play, or that he doesn't go for headers when someone hits a long ball up field, because he did all of those things against Palermo. The problem people have with him is that he's not running as fast as he can around the back four when the opposition have the ball. Fine, I can understand people wanting him to do that, it can be of some use to hussle a defence on odd occasions. But its certainly not the be all and end all of movement or desire and its not one of the more important parts of playing Football. But to the great and 'knowledgeable' Geordie public, famed for cheering more at a heavy tackle then a great peice of skill, its apparently the only thing that matters.. Or to a lot of them anyway, I shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush of course since quite a lot of people here want to see Luque given a chance.
