I'll disagree about the Fulham game, I don't think he's got a future but I still think he was OK before injured, not brilliant but OK. He didn't show anything - for me, its all opinion, same as it is for everyone - worthy of note in ANY of his competitive games, to illustrate he was worthy of a place on the bench, never mind the first team.
-
Striker's goals tbh . strikers rarely get chances as easy as those, thats all i was saying So you intend to ignore all goals scored that are "easy"?
-
He was on the left against Fulham and didn't look shite before he went off, Shearer and Owen should have both scored off balls delivered on a plate by Luque. He looekd like NOTHING against Fulham. HE has looked like NOTHING in pretty much every game he#s played for us. He IS nothing to us.
-
You may need to redefine your take on the word "enlighten".
-
1) Better than anyone we had before Martins. 2) We needed TWO strikers before Martins came in. So yes.
-
So we've never seen Luque on the left? Cos i have, and he was shite.
-
I couldnt agree more. Couldn't agree less. He's only a "fraction" away from gettign right in the same way as Boumsong is a "fraction" away from beinbg one of the best defenders in Europe.
-
Real? They're rich, not stupid. Some say he nearly went there before. Bollox. They could get hom for a 3rd of what we paid for him, and are they knocking on the door? No, they are not.

if he scored 20 goals this season will you be complaining? bluelaugh.gif bluelaugh.gif bluelaugh.gif And maybe he'll cure AIDS in his spare time. He's fucking rubbish, and the sooner we buy proper strikers and drop this uselss pile of donkey shite the better.
-
I'll take it. With a side order of "I told you so", and a good hearty laugh at the "he's world class, i followed him closely in Spain" idiots.
-
Good. I'll second that, shola can follow too, if only we were not short of strikers Damned right. Although we currently don't have any anyway, in fairness. Not good ones, anyway.
-
Good.

If you love it so much, why don't you marry it. Go on, you want to marry it.

I think Roeder is more than capable of pushing us up the table. Last seasons record under roeder wouldve had us 4th extrapolated across the entire season, not bad considering the injury record and the fact he played 4 of the top 5. But I think more importantly hes sorting out a lasting infrastructure at the club in terms of the academy, decent scouting, etc Agreed preseason friendlies mean nowt but the games against Lillestrom were ok considering the difference in preparation time And why is it Roeder getting stick for the lack of transfers rather than Shephard? No-one is getting stick. Hopefully if Roeder identifies players he wants, we'll get them. The worry is that we have bought/Roeder has expressed an interest in players who shoudl not be on our immediate priorities list. Nice to have them, granted, but we have other priorities. We are a CB and 2 strikers away from being anywhere near good enough to get top 6, and if we want to be comfortable up there, we will need to look at 2 full backs as well.
-
He should be given time, clearly. But, equally, we NEED to improve on our past few seasons, and if he doesn't have us close to achieving our goal (surely 6th) by the end of the season, he might as well go. What i want from Roeder is some transfer action, and less of the rubbish about certain players - we don;t need a managerial equivalent of Ameobi - all bullshit and no ability. Let results do the talking, etc. The pre-season is absolutely no indication of how he will do, but he needs to strengthen the first team verey quickly.
-
No, I'll just create loads of pointless topics and get banned. I'm only joking of course, nobody is daft enough to do that, are they? Not to mention then complain about it on their own little forum blueyes.gif Btw NE5, you might want to know that Norther Monkey is back despite his promises to stay away Did you miss me? Bless your little backward heart. I came on to check something, since you are so interested, and there were a few threads full of such rank stupidity even I couldn't resist. Don't worry, though, i'm only passing through occasionally - there's too much blind sycophancy and blinkered ass-kissing for my liking.

He must be, because Luque is the GREATEST striker in the world, and anyone who saw him last season and though the was very poor is WRONG, He must be GREAT, he has a showreel, and everything. Come on Albert, show us how FANTASTIC you are.

I do hope nobody actually believes that Roeder really thinks that. So Roeder's a liar? That would go down well with your theory that Luque is heartless wouldn't it? Are you saying that you have not been encouraged by his recent performances? Luque is getting better and better every game he has played this season. I hope it continues. I've only seen bits of ONE of his performances. I'm not saying Roeder is a liar. I'm saying that you have to take what managers say with a big pinch of salt, they may have other motives for saying things. You completely believe that Roeder thinks Butt has a future at NUFC, do you? As for his performances, from what i have gathered, as i haven't bothered this pre-season, he's been alright. Unless he can start the season on fire, i'm not interested. His performances last season were pathetic, and he has a lot to make up. If he wants more time to bed in, tough. Either he's good enough now, or he's not. We'll see in the actual season, won't we. I agree that we should really judge the chances of Luque succeeding at SJP on his performances in the premiership. However, i disagree that his last seasons performances were pathetic. I saw alot of lad play and i'm convinced that his failure to live up to his 9.5m expectation was due to alot of things. One of those was injuries but he did also have alot of time to get fit after that. Another one was bad management under Greame Souness, that is a certainty. I also believe that once the crowd got on his back for not scoring he lost alot of confidence and because of this failed to perform for the rest of the season. I think so far this year we have seen a different Luque. He looks sharper and shown quite a few glimpses of his "old self". However, my biggest worry is that Roeder will sign somone and then forget completely about the talented spaniard. What i'd like him to do is keep the rollercoaster going by easing him into games and playing him with other experianced stars such as Emre,Duff and Nobby. These are the players that can bring him into the game and get the best out of him. If they do that then eventually Luque will be the one bringing others into the game. We'll see, i guess. Nothing i saw last season made me think anything other than he will flop, but as an NUFC fan, i want what is best for the club - at the moment that is, as far as i am concerned, Luque immediately proving he is good enough, or being sold. One thing i can't get past is the defence of him last season. Yes he was injured, but when he came back, he failed to show any individual sparks of great talent. No, the style may not have suited him, and maybe that was his bedding in time, but the ball and pitches are the same size as in Spain, with the same rules (bar the contintental non-contact rules), so i woudl have expected his "talent" to come through considerably more than it did on an individual basis. it wouldn't have been hard to look good last season, just look at Ameobi - there were a few games where he actually didn't look Special. And blaming the fans is a no-no as well. No-one should be booed, but just running out in the strip does NOT automatically demand worship. You prove you are good enough, then you should get the full backing of the crowd. And for me, he faield to do that.

Only because he is better than Ameobi. Not great, but better. Bramble is a massive joke. He's a disgrace, and it pains me that we are going to be forced to watch him fuck up again and again this season. I'd rather we played bloody Moore, and he has THREE disabilities as a PL defender!
-
More of a joke than Ameobi, Boumsong, Bramble, et al? I don't think so.

he's deffo improved as a player since he's moved on from us Again, are the fans to blame for this??? Just about everyone who leaves improves their game. I'd take him back on the back of more major signings. its our fans man. "**** off luque" etc, only if he did actually **** off, then we'd all see what he's capable off. these players need to be given a chance to prove themselves. Its Our Fans??? LuaLua played 59 league games and only scored 5 goals. I think he was given a chance and proved what others have said - glorified sprinter / circus act. And as for Luque can you please explain the fans' contribution to his appaling 1st season in a b+w shirt 59 league games, most of which were 5 -10 minute run outs at the end of games. he did not play 90 minutes for us or indeed start many games for us at all. Again, are the fans to blame for this??? Yes. its OUR fault LuaLua didn't get many full games. Its OUR fault Luque played like a gutless waste of space last season, and its OUR fault that Ameobi is an utter pile of donkey shite. Oh, and we're to blame for Boumsong and Bramble being Championship quality players, too.
