Just the team from the Man Utd game with Trippier and Wood added, surely? Dubravka Krafth > Trippier Schar Lascelles Manquillo > Krafth Longstaff Shelvey Joelinton Fraser Wilson > Wood Saint-Maximin Longstaff was awful against Cambridge, but Willock wasn't much better. I wouldn't even complain at Hendrick getting a start at the minute tbh.

Lewis Dunk? Having a quick scan: Diop (West Ham), Mee/Tarkowski (Burnley), Phillips (Liverpool), Jones (Man Utd), Boly/Coady (Wolves), Rodon (Spurs), and Holding (Arsenal) would appear to the best of not the most exciting options in the world who we could theoretically attract (based on Wood making the jump). Think Diop or Dunk would improve us quite a bit, but couldn't say the same about the others, and with Dunk contracted to 2025 and seemingly very settled I'm not convinced he'd be available anyway. Always quite liked him and he can play a bit.

Who's the best realistic CB we could sign from another Premier League team, either permanently or on loan with an option to buy?
-
He's been a meme this season. Such a fall from grace.

I know what you mean @xLiaaamx, but we had threads for Rivaldo, Brett Emerton, Dirk Kuyt, and Bryan Ruiz once upon a time.

So people can discuss individual targets that we're clearly in for and leave the rumours thread for new/emerging links? I think as soon as we're bidding for a player more than once and the sources are sound, it's thread-worthy. If it doesn't happen it'll just drop off the front page.

Fuck it. Let's will it into existence, still seems to be alive and there's been enough chatter for a thread IMO.

Carlos, Badiashile, Ekitike, CM, and LB would be canny, like.

Kounde's subject to a lot of transfer interest himself from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. Strong rumours yesterday in a few places that Liverpool are trying to get him wrapped up with a loan back to Sevilla for the rest of the season. Been no news on his injury as far as I can see, but if it was serious it would surely have been reported by now?

This. One of the best strikers we've ever had

No chance only two more after Wood.

Think Krafth behind ASM is probably the play, aye, as he'll be naturally more inclined to do his donkey work. It allows Trippier to be less concerned about that and more of an outlet on the right.

Aye, as people have said there are only two games in January. It was critical we got some automatic starters in to give us the best possible chance of getting results in those. But there are still 17 games to go after the closure of the window, so I'd expect us to be active until the end as well. Wouldn't rule out a signing that seems incredibly unlikely now happening right at the death. Imagine the lift a genuine superstar (speaking relatively vs. the rest of the squad) could give us going into the Everton game. Two weeks to bed everyone in during training after we play Leeds, too, thanks to Cambridge.

Read Almiron at Newcastle. "Little better" is probably true. I've almost totally given up on Almiron, especially if we're not going to be using a 10. Fucking sick of seeing him on the right.

Providing Wood goes through, I think most of us would've been satisfied with spending £32.5M+ on two established internationals with Premier League experience that cover both flanks at FB/WB and up front. We're only 2/5 through the window, there's plenty more to come. Based on the bids we've made we're clearly going for two more centre-backs, a left-back, and another striker. I know there hasn't been anything quite as solid in CM, but I'm sure we're actively looking there as well. As much as it was fun while it lasted, I don't think Joelinton is the solution and the others definitely aren't. The CM signing is as important as any of the others, IMO, we've been piss poor there for years now.

I think some people have forgotten what it’s like to have a battering ram up front who scores a few goals, like. A skilled target man is still one of the most effective weapons in the game, for me, and he’ll hopefully help us play a few yards further up the pitch. The ball’s barely stuck up there since Rondon was here, which makes it very hard to play off for the midfielders and wide men. I’ve got more worries about the footballing intelligence of the rest of our attackers than I do about Wood performing his role as required. We’re fucking rubbish at anticipating flicks and knock downs when we do manage to win one. It’s becoming a lost art.

4-4-fucking-2

Thank fuck for that. Worth the £25m.

It’s what’s being quoted.

Left foot, right foot, headers, pens. Shearer and Drogba his favourite strikers. You’ll do for me not bonny lad.
