BBC Newcastle's Sunderland commentator reckons Bramble and Gyan are both out for tonight.
  7. What a sensational goal from Varney Followed by Marlon with a 4 yard tap-in spesh
  8. 1st: yes it was. 2nd: harsh free kick, barely offside. Defending was asking to concede. 4th: Colo wasn't strong enough. Tough. All of this.

Good win for the U18s this morning in tricky conditions. Boro were better in the first half in my view, took the lead with an early penalty when Ben Sayer put in a needless challenge following a corner. Newcastle equalised when Dan Taylor nicked home from close range, and went infront when Phil Airey was felled in the box by Boro's right back, with Airey getting up to score the pen himself. The referee nearly called the game off at half time because there was one dodgy area of the park (90% of the pitch was still playable) but both teams wanted to keep going and it continued, and soon after the break it was 3-1 when a long ball was flicked on to Airey who finished powerfully via the keeper. Boro then had a shout for a penalty for a handball which the Assistant Referee ( ) deemed accidental, but they were back in it when the referee awarded the third penalty of the day when Mick Riley (since when was he a left back? I refereed him when he played for Walker Central Juniors and he used to bang the goals in for fun) clipped a Boro player's heels. The award was disputed but correct, and the penalty was again converted for 3-2. Dennis Knight then made it 4-2 with a good finish from the left, before Boro threw caution to the wind, grabbing back a third with around 5 minutes to go, but Newcastle saw out the last few minutes for what in the end was a deserved win, as they were much the better side in the second half.
  10. I can't stand to listen to the Legends these days, it's absolutely dreadful, three idiots all shouting over each other without a brain cell between them, and the majority of the callers are even worse Total Sport is better, a more reasoned and structured debate with generally sensible callers on. Plus there's fuck all about Boro, who nobody gives a shit about anyway.
  11. Mike Dean was excellent yesterday, yet again.

Maybe Mrs Nolan and the kids went home for half term?
  13. Nice to see the media golden boys getting fucked today. Some lush goals in that game as well.

    Kevin Nolan

I've been one of his harshest critics in the past.......today, he didn't just turn up and help himself to a goal or 2 but he was absolutely on it from minute 1 and was a massive part of the entire performance, leading by example. Outstanding, even without the goals.
  15. How can they all get it so wrong? They probably (rightly) assumed Smith would get booked for his foul, and totally failed to notice Marriner had actually called Perch in to be more interested in the technical offence rather than the assault. Then they were too busy watching the replays to notice Smith push Marriner in the chest to be actually booked.
