tbf "Acknowledging our correspondence" could literally be anything from a detailed response to issues and points within it to getting a read receipt in outlook. The question really is do they give a toss about the contents.
Dear NUST
My advice to you all, is to make sure your fridge works.
Best wishes
Richard Masters
The Premier League
You're going to need a drink when I tell you the deal is off

No one knows. Making predictions is getting really tiresome.
I predict a riot
-
If they want to hardball they should postpone UK trade talks etc
Yeah, because our Westminster government with its ruined COVID economy, about to be further destroyed by a harsh no-deal Brexit, can withhold trade talks with Saudi Arabia just to let NUFC get new owners. For fucks sake.
To clarify I meant SA should threaten to postpone the trade talks

I actually believe that Masters has been e mailing the wrong account after seeing how incompetent the bloke is the last 13 weeks.
Could be the reason for the delay
It's become a p!55!ng contest
That’s just another rehash of last weeks news
Yip just Hopes article rehashed, but quite amusing that Saudis are saying they were e mailing wrong account.
You couldn’t make this shit up, I’m convinced this will be turned into a movie.
It's clearly a parody of the Tories claiming they didn't take part in the EU procurement of PPE because the EU had the wrong email address. They have listened to the EPL's request to operate to Western standards.
-
As supporters, do we have any rights whatsoever to be kept in the loop?
No
I've told Sky I won't be renewing my contract with them if the takeover doesn't go through. Hopefully PIF and the Reuben boys are using different avenues.
-
The PL had a senior level board meeting yesterday after talking with clubs earlier
I believe the decision was made then. I’m not sure how it works in terms of informing the buyers.
I would imagine it goes to their legal team to draw up its findings, then goes back to Masters to sign before being couriered to the buyers legal team. (Simple things tend to be retarded at this level)
Can't see anything being released today. They won't want fans near SJP on a match day.

If Bruce won the FA Cup and cemented a top half finish, he should retire immediately. There's no way he's topping that shit. Ever.
Yup. It would be his Pardew finishing 5th moment.
or his winning the cup with Palace moment

He's just saying they are lying about the piracy and attempting to rewrite history. His follow up tweet is just fucking nuts. Hopefully he was pissed when he did it because its just bizarre.

Nothing wrong in letting a future friend save face as they back down.
-
Not sure the PL would have requested that response as it’s just refuting all claims, not really saying they’ll make changes.
Anyway, it’s just PR and politics that. Prob nowt to do with the takeover.
TBH I really think it was, as one of the major complaints by BT sport, sky, BBC and bein was that they couldn’t get justice in the Saudi courts, they now have put it in black and white by a government agency how anyone can now do that.
It seems the EPL et al didn't need lawyers, they just had to email the friendly Saudi government. Of course that won't be necessary in future as Saudi Arabia will soon own all the key sporting rights.
-
Totally could have ignored it.
Totally agree. They could have just hid behind the national security get out clause if it wasn't for the need to placate the EPL.
-
Does anyone know what percentage of the company they are buying?
I mean it’s not going to mean much if it’s like 1%, but if it’s 10% or more then that’s a pretty big stake they will own.
They can think again if they think this means I’ll get an EE contract though, not a chance.
Under 5pc at present
-
Mark Douglas saying buying shares in BT less relevant.
He's right (for a change) in the short term as the piracy crackdown hopefully enables the nufc purchase to complete. In the longer term there is a synergy between buying football clubs, buying sports TV rights (they have just bought Serie A from next year) and a stake in a media company like BT.
-
Ian Dennis saying Mauriss has made a 350m bid.
Must have been speaking to his Qataris friends again.
-
Saudi commitment.
But on this thread we can be positive and take them at their word! Else the EPL have had 30 days to figure out how to tie them down to something workable.
-
Surely the PL will take some time to digest the WTO's report?
They have had it for a month via Qatar. I think they will have been pressing via PIF for the full closure of BeoutQ and access to the Saudi justice system to any future piracy cases. Saudi movement here seals the deal; in their statement the Saudis have committed to conform to IP laws and protocol. It is not hard to imagine that as part of the ODT PIF agree to support the fight against piracy and to use their power to ensure compliance in KSA.
-
There is no predicting the future for certain....though it is curious how many people were able to predict how McClaren at nufc would pan out.

I wonder how much of this, "we're still convinced it's gonna happen" line from the buyers is blind faith?
Yup - it's long been my fear that all of these positive noises were coming from one source.
Could easily be misguided/wrong/badly advised.
Disagree they’ll have a good idea from the league’s lawyers who they’ll have been dealing with on a daily basis. Yes it has to go to the board, but this is obviously complex and I can’t see them going against the legal advice.
Either where waiting for a remedy to tv situation, or they’ll just pass it based on PIF being a separate legal entity.
Hmmm. Well, it's all guesswork but I'd have said if they were 'good to go' and 'expecting an announcement over the next 24 hours' and 'cans in the fridge' then I'd say they were given a bum steer by the Lawyers as that was over a month ago.
The TV situation and the seperate entity argument have been there since day 1 and yet the deal still seems nowhere near being done.
I'd say it's entirely reasonable to be doubting the validity of the prior positive noises coming from the buyers side tbh.
I see where your coming from, but I genuinely think they were given the nod. However, that Monday news broke of further evidence being submitted.
Now everything subsequently points to this being the WTO draft report.
I genuinely believe it is the fact this has become so public has unnerved the board. I believe legally this has the go ahead from lawyers, however board wanted more info re piracy under pressure from Bein.
Now where in a situation where solution to keep all parties happy is taking place, hence confidence of buyers.
We’ve always been told it’s an ongoing discussion. I’m convinced it’ll be sorted but understand doubts.
See what you're saying but if there's any way that their lawyers have either approved it or word has leaked that they can't see a reason to deny it then you'd imagine the buyers would be pressurising the f*** out of the PL who now seem keen to use the leverage as much as possible.
That leverage disappears the minute the buyers know the PL cannot legally stand in their way so, for me, I'm not that confident but hope you are right obviously.
Though this doesn’t give us answers, it just reinforces my belief that ongoing discussions will eventually result in a resolution.
I don’t think we should underestimate Staveley and the Reubens part in this. They are influential, respected and high profile British business people.
Not least that the Reuben brothers sponsored Boris Johnson's leadership campaign.
-
I think it is in MAs interest to be the bad guy re ticket refunds etc even if is just so the EPL are glad to be shot of him and approve the deal.
-
Ideally Sheffield United will pay top dollar for any players we deem surplus.
-
The EPL probably have AS the nod on the 10am call but haven't put it in writing yet.
-
It's a multiple month job when the world was normal, let alone with the biggest unimaginable crisis facing the entire world.
So the takeover isn't done within a time that can vary wildly, the twitter know fuckalls start shitting their knickers, it starts a feeding frenzy of divvies
Just chill and it'll be all OK, soon enough with just a little patience.
Life was a simpler place when we only had The Pink & Ceefax.....oh and on the train Darlo to Shildon, down the bog onto the tracks went the undies
Aye miss them days, everything was so simple.
I was at that game. Really thought winning ugly was going to be good for us.
-
I thought the Reuben's were just in the mix coz they owned real estate in Newcastle. Now I understand they pay into the Boris political fund and I feel a whole in lot more optimistic.
-
There isn't a forum clique, we're just a group of guys who get together after dark to draw pentagrams and sacrifice a small goat as a tribute to the great Mike Ashley.
You're kidding.
