I have no problem with the penalty. But! if we need a shithousery goal of any kind to win (and many have gone against us) then so be it too. Onwards and upwards :indi:

I read that as "red top mind" as in always looking for the penalty

Sorry for being ambiguous. I literally meant wearing a red top, as in Man Yoo or lfc

I'd be fuming at Dubs in that situation. Sa didn't even pull out of the challenge.

Smart play by Wood. Recognised the possible situation and did what was needed. It wasn't an overt fall for a penalty. I think Jota did a bad one recently and won the penalty.

You don't need to do much to win a pen if you have a red top mind

It's being discussed because some people don't want to give Wood any credit for getting it. Simple as that.

Agree. Two other things to note:

As soon as Joelinton breaks into space Wood sprints to get on the shoulder of the defender.

It is a well timed pass and run that takes out the defender and draws SA into a challenge.

Wood has had an indifferent start but had some good moments on Friday.

Fair points. I'm someone who saw the Wood purchase as a needs must situation and don't blame them for it in any way fwiw. But I guess I just don't feel like other clubs will see much of a distinction in us being negotiated up to £25m and us choosing to activate a £25m clause. Either way we were prepared to pay over the odds.

Because we needed a striker immediately. We need a DoF for the long haul. The team that negotiated January can manage post-season.

If DoF is a salary of £1m pa at Brighton then asking for £5m is an insult to Ashworth; they have been under paying him.

  5. Just goes to show how far we have to go to challenge the top four places. Need to play Bruno. I thought the second half Howe was trying to see how he could play both Bruno and Shelvey.

He was out of control. Was never going to be overturned.

I think that as we go into next season that the EPL should make clear that any cynical foul is a red and that any shirt holding in the box is a pen. It will be Messi for a month or two but then we will have our game back.

When does the winner get announced?

Mostly just after voting closes; but in Russia they like to do things earlier whereas in the USA much much later.

I think he was staying with one of the players when he was on loan last season and by all accounts he’s a good lad, hopefully he will settle and prove that fee we paid for him to be peanuts in the end.

Can you say where he is living without invading his privacy? There is rural and rural when it comes to living in Northumberland.

On a side note, it is a bit weird seeing established "old guard" clubs like Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Ipswich and Bolton outside the playoffs of the Third division, while Oxford, MK Don's, Rotherham & Wycombe are all above them.

The problem Wednesday have is that they are every team's Cup Final. Similar for Ipswich and Bolton.

Not sure why Trippier can displace our RB, Targett can displace our LB, etc

But our biggest signing cannot displace Shelvey

I do think we have done the right thing up to now, but sooner or later you need to start playing the guy - even if just under the guise of "rotation"

Well we haven't seen the fitness stats which will be more crucial in CM than full back. I am going to enjoy trusting Eddie and his coaching team.
