Im pretty sure most of the Spurs players live in Essex/Hertfordshire rather than London anyway.

I wouldn't herald the end of Ashby just yet. He needs football and so I think he'll be loaned and Livramento will be added into the rotation of league and cup.
Or we just dump Krafth and Manquillo and free up two spaces in the 25 man squad

While we still have to pay them monthly having the cash to do that has never been the problem. Our issue is them being an impact on FFP, which they wouldn’t be if we have already written that cost off in one hit.
That would be my understanding of it.Wages also have an impact on FFP though?

It appears the period of reflection was brief then, Luke

Due to his age does this circumvent FFP?
I think it is only youth infrastructure rather than the purchase of youth players that are exempt from FFP

Signing a quality player for free? Definitely not peak Man United.
Agreed, but buying one with attitude problems and questionable motivation is

Ive really never heard of needing left footed and right footed centre backs before the last couple of seasons. Is it a new thing? Im sure there must have been dozens of excellent centre back pairings who are both right/left footed

Nah homegrown for Europe he has a place. If we send kuol on loan we will be short. Plus when Wilson was looking over the hill after the World Cup we struggled massively with isak been out. Young Armstrong is rapid aswell.
Arent we just better buying someone under 21 who might actually develop into something good - would do the same covering role and wouldnt take up a CL registration spot

£4m per year isn’t £77k/wk
Erm, yes it is.
Sorry, should really read the rest of the thread before posting a condescending reply like that!

It's quite hard trying to work out whether the players we're going for are as an alternative to another or in addition to another. Like are we going for Tonali and playing a different way as an alternative to going for Barella or for Maddison, or are we going for them in addition to each other?
No one knows, but reports would suggest we are after an central midfielder in addition to an attacking mid/winger hybrid - so I would guess Tonali or Barella and Maddison or Szloboszlai

I don’t think Howe is interested in playing a traditional 6 anyway, I think he wants 3 box to box players.Tonali would be ideal - could play alongside Bruno and our midfield wouldn't look so devoid of creativity when Bruno is unavailable

Jesus. People on here really need a transfer!

Apologies for bumping this, but I do wonder if the club see McTominay not only as a midfield option but also someone who can cover central defence. He has played there a lot for Scotland and he's right footed.

Not sure how he often arrives late for training. He has two nice watches.
The fact they look to be set at different times could explain it.

Are people really suggesting that firstly we'll sign McTominay for about £30m to be Longstaff's backup? And that secondly, McTominay will be happy to come here on that basis?
I don't think its about backup. Its about having two 11s that can do the same job to the same standards. With the 5 subs allowed now the use of the squad has completely changed. We are massively lacking in squad depth, while at least 9 of our first 11 are good enough to be starting next season
-
I think if we continue to use 3 8s who effectively have to do everything in midfield he wouldn't be a bad option. If buying bim means we can afford someone like Szobozlai then i wouldnt mind it. Everyone has noticed who much worse we looked as a team when Longstaff was out and McTominay could be utilised in almost exactly the same role. Im firmly of the belief that we should be buying players that suit the way our team plays.
Obviously this is all price dependent.

Chelsea are supposedly targeting one of Maddison or Szoboszlai this summer.
Jesus, really? They have an entire team of attacking midfielders already

It would surely make it easier for Levy to sell to a giant like Real. Probably more palatable for the Spurs fans to see him sold oversea too.

Benzema leaving Real

I really like him as a player and i would have been delighted if we signed him, but i was never quite sure how he would fit into our setup.
