  1. Please don't put words into my mouth. That's NE5's job.
  2. All the more reason to keep chanting Shepherd Out -- louder and longer. The Hall family is part of the problem, too.
  3. Aye, but he has a) Peter Kenyon and b) Roman Abramovich to hand the list to. And as they're a) smarter and b) much, much richer than Fat Freddy -- not to mention hugely more ambitious -- he tends to get who he wants.
  4. It's a mystery to most of us, too.
  5. They'll want to make money. This can only be done by, first and foremost, by pursuing success on the pitch and making Newcastle once again a team that people want to watch – something that now seems to be way beyond Shepherd and his cronies. Aye, they might fail. But then again, this is the second season in a row where the consensus is that we're in danger of relegation. So what's to fear from a change at the top?
  6. I think the Premiership chairmans were taking the piss when they voted to allow us to appoint Glen Roeder. They'll have been thinking: "Great, that'll put them lot out of contention for at least another season!"
  7. The Henry Winter article is just yet another example of the evil biased cockney media who haven't even been to every single game home and away for the last 93 years mindlessly slagging off our great Chairman, hallowed be his name! Stands to attention on deck saluting the Geordie Nation flag as the good ship Newcastle United slowly sinks beneath the waves...
  8. I remember thinking that we'd had such an ugly ride to Wembley under Dalglish (I still curse under my breath whenever the train goes through Stevenage) that I'd be almost ashamed if we'd won the cup.
  9. Oh, I'd hazard that any individual or group resourceful enough to raise the £100 million plus that would be needed today to take over the club is likely also to be intelligent and resourceful enough to make a better fist of it than the current bunch of cronies on our board.
  10. Well, I suppose there is a certain dark comedy in the fact that some people are still backing Fat Freddy.
  11. Where did I say that I wasn't bothered about our immediate plight? I'm gutted about our situation but not surprised in the slightest and don't trust Shepherd to get a good manager in, that's why I think getting rid of him is more important than getting rid of Roeder. We need a manager to take the club forwards, Shepherd will only get the right man by accident, not by choice. I'm not having a go at you because you seem to have changed your opinion slightly. Of course, all the other 91 clubs have a "plan" and get who they want every time ..... Well, I'm glad someone, at least, finds our steady decline and current plight under Fat Fred to be a source of amusement.
  12. Excellent article by Winter.
  13. 14. Nah, Andy Gray knows a bit about football.
  15. Part of the problem is that FF never seems to have a new candidate in mind until he sacks the old one. Sack Robson. Oops! Souness is the best I can find! Sack Souness. Oh dear, nobody else wants to come here but we've got this Roeder lying around. Sack Roeder... well, I bet he's wondering how to persuade Shearer.
  16. Re Fat Fred buying the club out... It's not an impossible scenario. He's accumulated shares up to just under the point where he'd have to make a formal bid for ownership of the club. It's possible he could arrange the finance to buy out the Halls if they want to sell up, and if the Halls look like selling their shares to someone else, that might be what he'd do.
  17. The point of a campaign should be to weaken Fat Fred's position before the next approach from Belgravia or suchlike. There should be banners and chants, things people will notice on television, stuff commentators and reporters will have to mention, so that the next time even someone as shameless as he is can't chunder on about "the people of Tyneside" or the importance of having someone "who understands the club". We will have made it very clear what he's supposed to "understand". Declining attendances would also concentrate his mind wonderfully.
  18. I think we can take it for granted that a big investment company is going to understand this. We haven't got any assets to strip, but we do have a stable fan base and potential as a footballing brand... which is what it's all about these days.
  19. So you agree that you were wrong about the board's ambition. Well done! We'll see, of course, how stable is the mid-table position that the board have "achieved".
  20. Ambition? This was David Stonehouse in 2001: http://www.nufc.com/html/telegraph_stonehouse.html
  21. The truth is of course precisely the other way around. Shepherd has managed to make just one managerial appointment that wasn't extremely bad.
  22. Your intelligence, maturity, unfailing courtesy and really, really new computers are a shining example to us all.
  23. Oh dear, you've missed the point. I was parodying you banging on childishly about your computers. Sorry for the misunderstanding. In future I'll t y p e m o r e s l o w l y and try to make my jokes a bit more obvious for you.
  24. Take your time when reading this. Take time out and get medical advice, first you don't see comments from people which you later put down to having a PC which out-dates electricity, then you see my support for Souness which has never been seen before, by anybody else although I'm sure NE5 will back you up. You have some sort of problem, it's probably a medical condition but it would be worth getting a second opinion and the relevant treatment. Eh? You know how old my computers are? Listen Mick, give me your address and I'll GIVE you a computer for FREE that is only 3 years old. It's sitting in my garage right now with a big 19" monitor as well. That will still leave me with THREE home computers that are all under 6 months old. I'll even throw in the mouse, keyboard and speakers. My computers are newer than your computers. Nyah nyah nyah-nyah nyaaah!! Yes, very mature.
