  1. Yeah, Sven's crap. As England manager, he lost five competitive games out of 67 – and only three of those inside 90 minutes. There's no way we should appoint him as it would mean we'd probably go out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals.
  2. Apart from appointing Souness, agreeing to the transfers, and signing the cheques for them, they are completely blameless, you're right.
  3. The decline in income clearly started two years before Fat Fred appointed Souness. Why are you on a thread about the club's finances if you haven't even read the information about the club's finances?
  4. I think you need to consider extracting yourself from his back end. Going to try making some points of your own?? You know, points that have some SUBSTANCE behind them. What is it about these facts and figures concerning our steadily declining income and dangerously spiralling ratio of wages to turnover that strikes you as insubstantial, exactly? And what is it that you don't understand about this decline coming about due to the dropping off of performances on the field of play, rather than consistent mismanagment of the clubs finances by the Board? This isn't difficult stuff. If you can't even see that the two things are intricately related – mismanagement of the club doesn't stop at finances, while finances affect our performances on the field of play as much as performances on the field of play affect finances – then it's not surprising that you can't recognise the vicious circle we've been in since Partizan, which marked the end of the good work Bobby Robson had managed to do, pretty much against the run of play. Surprising that you recognise when it began, unlike your mate Macbeth. Now all you have to do is make that giant leap to accept that the Board hasn't been mismanaging things since they took over, that it's down to mismanagement on the pitch and we're home and dry. From the point of view of the Board, throwing £50m at a team that was still good enough to finish 5th should not have seen a decline. They did their bit but the manager fúcked it up. The correct replacement will put it right and that's what's underway right now, it won't happen overnight. Look at the link in my sig'. So how come, given your hero's peerless financial management, was there no money available to strengthen the squad pre-Partizan?
  5. And it will do that how exactly? By making sure we spend a few more seasons fighting relegation? Selling the stadium to some other football club in the area? Building a luxury resort complex in Longbenton? Or by intelligent investment and reorganisation of the way the club is run with the aim of maximising our potential in the game as opposed to slowly pissing it away like Shepherd? turning the tide and

What a shame you don't see how finance and quality of player on the pitch is really linked. When you've stopped spouting the same old shite, perhaps you'll give us the benefit of your "knowledge" on our steadily declining income and spiralling wages/turnover ratio. But then, you'll never stop spouting the same old shite, will you, because you know that your pro-Shepherd position is basically stupid.

  9. Good points, Macbeth, as ever. But I think you need to consider reducing the size of those graphics. For one or two people, the pictures are obviously too big to see.
  10. The poor financial situation originates from the bad appointment of Souness, not from overall bad running of the business over an extended period of time. Cheers Aye, that'll be why the decline in income started two years before Fat Fred appointed Souness.
  11. It’s certainly something that Fat Fred seems to find difficult, even though, with five managers in ten years, he's had a lot of practice. You'd hope he'd learn from his mistakes, but he seems to be getting worse at it. I thought you would have learned by now that you always back the wrong guy too Maybe he's just got better with practice, something Shepherd has been incapable of doing so far. Well, he's nothing but a WUM, as he's always been - as you know, which makes it even more laughable that you agree with him On the issue at hand – the fact that Fat Fred has led the club into decline for long enough – you and HTL are just about the only ones on the forum who don't agree with me. I guess you think that everyone on the board is "laughable". I suspect the feeling is mutual. you wanted Souness to build his team, you wanted the board to load him up with cash. Nothing could be more irrelevant than what you think I wanted. The person who actually appointed Souness, backed Souness, and decided to spend millions and millions on players for Souness, remains your big hero who can do no wrong, while to anyone else it’s clear that he's taken NUFC just about as far as he can. (Well, hopefully. If he takes us any further we'll be in the Championship.) As I said, laughable. If you were a nation, you'd be Italy (WW2 version) If you were a comedian, you'd be funny.
  12. Incredible. Gotta be a good confidence-booster. Now let's hope there's no trouble for the lads who are over there.
  13. How's the debate going, anyway? Won anyone over the Fat Freddy cause?

  16. Good to see you agree that Fat Fred backs the wrong guy. If you could ever learn to stop putting words into other people's mouths and actually debate like a grown-up, you might even find people start taking you seriously. so are you happy that you got what you wanted when you said you wanted Bellamy out and Souness to spend a fortune to create his own team ? Obviously no danger of anyone taking you seriously in the near future, then.

  19. Liverpool have spent way more than Newcastle in recent years.
  20. That's more info than he'd get if he sent Terry Mac to watch them tbh.
  21. Can't blame people for being cheered up by a win. We all want to see the lads win, even if we've got a crap manager and a chairman who's stayed in his job too long. But it says something that we're sending out a team full of second-stringers for a European tie against the Serie A leaders – in order to keep our powder dry for Sheffield United! No chance of a win tonight anyway.
  22. That's the problem with a protest outside. Banners and chants don't take much organising.
  23. Banners and chants inside the ground will be more effective than protests outside it.
