  1. All those people over there with the party poppers and the bottles of sparkling wine.
  2. The only people who can reduce the price is us. Why Cunny Dalglish has suddenly decided to play wheeler dealer after spaffing £20m on Jordan Henderson is beyond me. I don't see why we are obliged to drop the price because Enrique's following the scouse prompts. Its beyond me how you cant see they are two totally different situations. Henderson is English, overrated, younger and had years on his contract and his club/himself didnt want to leave. Whereas we could see Jose sign a pre contract in 6 months, wants to go and any chance of getting a fee for him reduces by the day. I just don't see why Enrique should be able to dictate the price by throwing a strop on behalf of his new scouse overlords. Yes we will have to compromise but that was always going to be the case anyway. It's not a case of Jose throws a hissy and we drop a couple of million on cue. Who is to say what price it will/should be though, his strop hasnt really changed anything? Ash Young went for £16m, NZogbia for £9.5m both in the same boat although attacking players in general cost more. I said a while ago we may well end up getting £5m and push for heavy future incentives due to the how long we have and it still wouldnt be terrible(obviously in the silly sense that we will replace him properly) unless we end up with some shite at LB for a fraction of that amount. Fine but the post I was responding to initially was by ozziemandias which read: It has the effect of alerting clubs to the fact that he definitely, 100% wants away. It also wrecks any chance at all of him signing a new contract. We now have to sell, if we can. It's an incentive for clubs to wait until the last minute of the transfer window to come in with a meagre offer in the hope of taking advantage. We no longer have any position of strength in terms of negotiation. Fuck knows why half the people on here have been celebrating his self-serving tweets.
  3. One desired effect of Jose's outburst will of course have been to reduce the price we can get for him.
  4. It's nothing to do with money, he simply doesn't like the direction the club is going in and the lies that go with it It's all about the money. He's just saying what he thinks you want to hear.
  5. Apologies if already posted. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/lukeedwards/100017958/jose-enrique-wants-whats-best-for-him-not-newcastle-united/
  6. Jose's tweet is basically what the tabloids call a "come-and-get-me plea". It's been obvious since he turned his nose up at the contract the club was offering that he expects some "bigger" club to come along with an even bigger cheque, and by implicitly threatening to run down his contract, he's encouraging the club to sell him for whatever it can get. But it hasn't happened. No club seems to have made any offer at all, let alone one that betters his current (apparently rather generous) deal. So now he's trying to shake things up. This is bad news for everyone, as it probably means a lose-lose scenario where we'll end up having to loan him to Celtic or something, like the last player who stupidly burnt his bridges by publicly accusing people of lying.
  7. If it's correct that he's the second-best paid left-back in the Prem (or was it the third-best paid?) then offering him more years of what he's on already IS a good deal. Sorry for pointing this out, like.
  8. Me, I blame the tossers who cause bother at matches. Alas, the only way to deal with this braindead minority involves measures that impact on those capable of enjoying a match without kicking someone's head in. Those leaping to the troublemakers' defence and spouting it's-all-an-evil-moneygrubbing-plot-by-the-club conspiracy theories are, meanwhile, morons. End of.
  9. On the other hand, when he finally leaves, he almost certainly won't be at the club anymore.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Well, thanks for jinxing that possibility.
  11. I heard the Murdoch Ashley Empire faked the mobile videos using the same company that did the moon landing tapes and Magpie Ranger is a CIA Sports Direct plant. There. Now everyone will believe you.

Don't be such a drama queen. "Caused us hell"?
  13. Agree completely that we still need one damn good striker and a right back. As for the rest of it... Last weekend, spent some time with a mate who is an Arsenal fan. I was trying to wind him up by repeating that another gooner I know disgustedly describes the current team as the "French pastry chefs". My mate would have none of it, and launched into an impassioned defence of Wenger as delivering, not trophies, but something even more valuable: sustainability. That's what we're aiming for and we're not there yet. The club is trying to improve the team while bringing expenditure into line with income. The latter is a painful process that I'd guess will take a year or two yet, but, within that, the buy/sell policies don't seem to be working too badly. Final judgement, though, won't be possible until the end of the window.
  14. Only just noticed this. Top post!

    Randy Lerner does.
  16. Would be a bit disappointing if we didn't like. The problems are clear. They just need to make sure it doesn't happen on a Friday night, they need to get it properly policed and they need to keep all Ameobi's away from it. Easy. If they're expecting this kind of trouble, just the cost of policing could make local friendlies impossible.

So you would have Llambias turn up mob-handed at pubs where fans are drinking and abuse them? Aye, that's exactly what I meant. And groups of fans can go round Del's house and paint a massive NUFC logo on his roof. Last time I looked at my roof he hadn't painted anything up there.
  18. Think it's just about the only noteworthy thing to happen in Darlo in the last Century. Which is one more thing than what has happened in Hartlepool. The last notable thing to happen in Hartlepool was during the Napoleonic Wars and involved rope and a monkey.

  20. How is that being melodramatic? Sometimes you just seem to slip carelessly over the line from moaning ninny to drama queen.

    My thoughts as well.
