  1. Indeed, but it's no longer the honest, local alternative to a neighbouring global brand, is it?
  2. I know plenty of people from Manchester, and some of them are red and some of them are blue. The idea that it was only Man City had a local following while Man U fans were all from Essex or Thailand was never any more than a wind-up. And yes, Man City will now have their share of glory-hunters, too. In fact that's the whole point of the investment, from Abu Dhabi's point of view. I don't think they'd get away with something like that cheeky Tevez "Welcome to Manchester" billboard now.

  4. But I've seen Mancini in Milan!
  5. I don't know how Bates got away with the CPO scam. They lost the vote today, anyway.
  6. In the absence of a Chelsea thread, tales of skulduggery at Stamford Bridge: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/buck-takes-matters-into-own-hands-in-bridge-war-2375861.html
  7. Even more than that, Man U are actually the victims of their own success. While Man City are now sitting at the top of the table by virtue of nothing more than simply being there when a multi-billionaire oil sheik came along, Man U have been saddled with humungous debt in a leveraged buy-out.
  8. Thats a good rule, nowt worse when teams are beating you or getting a valuable point and they start taking forever, especially if it's a team who start doing it as early as they can into the game. When was the last time you saw the rule enforced though? Is it not meant to be an indirect freekick? Keepers get booked for timewasting all the time on goal kicks, pretty sure Krul has had a few. I can only ever remember seeing it enforced once and that was for us, can't remember which game it was but Shearer dispatched the free kick. He also appealed to the ref to get the kick -- he'd been counting. It wasn't long after the rule came in, though I can't remember which game it was either.

  11. I don't think they do, and even if they did, who gives a toss? I watched the Tottenham game in a group including fans of Arsenal, Hertha and Eintracht Frankfurt. No one so much as mentioned the signage.

Starting to look like an upgrade yet?
  14. If he was playing for the reserves he'd be "plying his trade". And who could afford to buy out his contract?
