  1. Much like Martins he's a good player when he doesn't have to think. Take him in a heartbeat like but why would he leave CL Villareal to move here. Brilliant workrate too.

think he plays for Athletico Madrid...doesn't he?

  2. If this is true, then it looks like we are at last aware that we aren't going to get any of the high profile targets we have been linked with. Some swiss no name looks to be about the level we've sunk to but is probably more realistic for us.

At this point I have absolutely no confidence in next season, particularly if KK is going to go shopping for euro trash that he has not looked at very closely prior to the tournament and identified as a priority target.

How much had you seen of Modric before we made a club record bid for him? Genuine question.

Very little, Dave apart from the qualifying games.

Too many people on here seem to think they have an indepth knowledge of all these foreign players from seeing a few snippets on the telly and then try to pass themselves off as experts. Like the ones who throw out names nobody has heard off and then the socalled experts google him to try to appear knowledgeable. I rather we looked at the Jimmy Bullards of this world tbh than drop down from the top targets that are destined for bigger clubs to the flash in the pan, he scored a good goal type that will probably find the pace and physical aspects of the premier league too much for them.

As for leading his country at 19? It switzerland FFS. One step above andorra.

Oh I see... Have you ever seen them play? I doubt it...

  3. Yes, young and improving players like Viana, JD Tomasson, Carl Cort, Lua Lua, Gavilan, Maric... Oh.

Oh come on. You would have done the same, if someone asked for experienced players... Kluivert, Luque, Boumsong, Marcelino. I am not the most optimistic guy, but that's just beyond...

  4. Most interesting fact yet about Arshavin: He has a diploma in fashion design. You've got to love Skysports for getting the important info out there

so we have another selling point for him, Newcastle has a big gay scene.

    Insider knowledge???

eh, Swissmag Im sure there are more appropriate websites for you to go cruising.

I am sure that there is a separate "I am trying to be funny by using cliches" thread... :-) Take it easy

  7. What a big surprise boys and girls, are Toon really linked with a new palyer?????????????

I think i ve read about 250 other players we been linked to this summer.

Start buying and leave us from all these stupid links,we are soon linked with half of the players in Europe

Harry - Keegan spoke on BBC Radio Newcastle this morning to say that he wouldn't be bringing anyone in before the end of July, he doesn't want to pay wages for players who aren't playing - looks like you'll have to wait!

OMG, another month full of speculation...

  8. Players that have impressed at the Euro's and who are attainable:

    1) Gokhan Inler of Switzerland and Udinese. Comfortable and assured passer of the ball.

    2) Eren Derdiyok of Switzerland and Basle. Big striker with a bit of pace.

    3) Dario Srna of Croatia and Shaktar Donetsk. Right wing. Good crosser with a powerful shot. Can score as well as proven against the Germans.

All will be very poor in the premiership imo.

And where have you got this knowledge from? But you would go for De Ridder? Weird IMO

  9. At 27 he had been pretty much unheard of before the season just gone, now he has played very well in a poor Russian side, he has stood out but has he stood out enough? Any player is a risk but he could be a massive one.

His price tag may put other clubs off him well clubs such as Arsenal but Chelski will pay anything for anyone just to stop other clubs buying them. I am not convinced Ashely would pay big money for him even if we did have a chance of getting him. All this do not buy on the back of a good International performance is dead right and although he has been okay for Zenit they are not a top team in a  top league. Maybe common sense should rule  in this one.

Who would you buy then? And at which price?

  10. MJ, can I ask you a question?  Are you mates with Ramos?  You're always saying Ramos thinks this, Ramos thinks that how the fkn hell do you know?

Former best buddy M. Jol (the real one) introduced him to Ramos before he left... :-)

  11. SWP supposed to be available would expect us to enquire

    Turan Arshavin SWP

           New DM

    Dream land

Is that Fabio Dreamland you're referring too?  Top quality defender!

No. He reffered to Danny Dream and Jaap Land, the two dutch defenders... You know nothing about football, don't you! :-)))

  12.

    Sorry, but you are fuc

personally thats just me, he is an overrated player. good....but not even best in Europe let alone the world. Still too much headless chicken running, poor decisions in terms of passes and very few assists. if he is not scoring goals, he will be dubbed as a major flop. he offers nothing in terms of being a winger. i know some Man U fans who think likewise. Like Andy Cole for man u, goals but without the goals a plain useless player. he is certainly not Henry, Villa, Messi...players who score and create. btw, he cannot dribble for nuts...many hoodwinked fans think pushing the ball at pace and run is dribbling. Dribbling is what Beardsie or Messi are doing.

    Yeah, thats just you...

  13. Its from the Mirror...

Arsenal to make £10million bid for Andrei Arshavin

    Mirror.co.uk, UK - 7 minutes ago

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make a £10million bid for Russia's Euro 2008 star Andrei Arshavin. Wenger has already spoken to Zenit St Petersburg ...

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/06/19/arsenal-to-make-10million-bid-for-andrei-arshavin-89520-20613151/

I've never been a fan of paying over the odds for players but on this occasion I'd f*** Arsenal over by offering £15m for him.

I doubt Wenger would match that given the Nasri is nearly through.

    Good point

  14. He impressed in patches, caused their back four problems at times but I dunno if he is what we need, I think there are better options out there, mind we have no hope anyway if Wenger wants him..

Maybe the best option would have been to have got him signed up the Euros started.  He had been linked with Newcastle for quite a time, the management must have realised there was likely to be more competition for his signature/his price would go up once he showed his ability in the tourno.

You are not allowed to say that here, remember, plenty of time, nobody else is signing players before the Euros, wait and see..blah, blah, blah

    sad but true... :-(
