  1. Newcastle agree Derdiyok fee with Basel

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to Swiss press, fee agreed(no mention on how much)

POSTED ON SKUNKERS- could be bollox

WTF? Nothing new here on the Derdiyok front... Not mentioned in the press - so it seems to be bollox.

Is he worth it would you say?

He has bags of potential, but atm he's struggling to score on a regular basis in the Swiss League. All the rumour stuff has probably had some bad influence on his form. I would take the risk, but only at a relatively low price....

  3. Would be over the moon...

Is it true that an agreement has been reached regarding Derdiyok?

There was definitely nothing in the swiss press.

Unfortunately he's in a bad shape at the moment BTW. Not saying he couldn't develop further, but he's already struggling a bit (in the swiss league, which definitely isn't high standard).

Can the people who paid attention in French class translate that bit in bold....is that saying he was late to training or that St. Etienne began their preparations without him?

It says that there are doubts about the availability of B. Gomis (for the friendly) because he started the preparations late....

Sorry, already been answered several times. Good night then... :-)

  6. Has looked pretty class whenever I've seen him for NI. Haven't really seen him at Fulham much.

    Hes super for Northern Ireland

Im biased tho as im from NI

But id like to see him in a decent team getting decent service

So, can't be us then... :-)

  7.

IMO, assuming we get Coloccini, 3 more signings should follow. The names of Inler and Baptista are being bandied about, and I think both are class players who would improve our first team no doubt. Alongside these 2 names (and Im only dreaming here), I would love to have an experienced midfielder in the mould of Anatoliy Tymoschuk. The fella is a beast in midfield, and I think central midfield options of Tymoschuk, Inler, Barton, Butt and Guthrie to pick from would do very nicely for this season.

Break the bank for Baptista, Inler and Tymoschuk, and we've done a decent bit of summer business:

    Jonas

    Guthrie

    Bassong

    Coloccini

    Baptista

    Tymoschuk

    Inler

would people be happy with that? is it realistic enough?

    yes and yes

  8. I'm also a hard worker. I'm also a terrible footballer. And it's my dream to play for Newcastle. Do I deserve a contract? Because I'll take it.

Are you blond and handsome??? Okay then... :-)

  9. snatch their hands off! Pity its the star though

Everton are sizing up a cut-price £1.5m deal for Newcastle midfielder Alan Smith. (Daily Star)

    Yes please!!! There is hope...

  10. Given the relative silence over a creative central midfield player & a target man I'm hoping we have offers on the table for the one's we want. KK can't be serious about being content with what he has got. Barton will not start the season & a pairing of any of Butt, Guthrie, Geremi/ Milner/ Zog/ Faye/ Smith would get circles run round it.

Meanwhile up top Viduka & Owen are/ have had knocks & Oba's pre-season has been stopped. I'll not mention Smith or Ameobi; but just now one of them could be looking at a starting place. Carroll is still not ready. Look at our lack of goals from our front players in the pre-season games to date. It is clear that we need to strengthen.

I'd still take Heskey (especially over Baptista) if our main targets fall through. Bellamy has been mentioned in other posts; he did fantastic for us but he is a little t*** & he needs to play off a bigger man. He's not what we need; even if Martins left Owen would get in ahead of him.

    Heskey over Baptista? Sigh

  11. No wonder other fans and tabloids have a go at us, we are easy targets. Our support is fickle, split on everything, and to be honest at times an embarassment! Did Manure Fans call for Cantona's head when he publicly assualted a supporter in a live TV game? No, the manager and supporters rallied around him. Did Evertons fans whine about Duncan Ferguson when he was jailed for a shocking assault on a fellow player? No, they rallied around him, sent him letters in jail, supported him to the hilt.

Barton has done his crime and time, move on.

The tabloids dislike us and love to stir the s**t, f**k em, stick together through thick and thin, and lets show ALL the lads pulling on the B&W that we are what we think we are, the loyalest football supporters, the world has ever had!!!

    Shite opinion tbh...

  12. We can't afford to give Smith an extended run upfront. We'd be relegated by Christmas.

Alan Smith is our Ali Dia.

With the only difference, that Ali Dia already knew he will never be a good footballer...
