wow. spurs are gettin capel. so that means we were after him, yeh?? someone must have tied alan oliver up and gagged him...
:-)

he's a good box-to-box player and would be a step up from Barton, would be an excellent third central midfield to play alongside a dedicated DM like Butt and Attacking Midfielder like Modric. In a 4-4-2 i wouldnt be so sure, he doesnt seem to have a defined role, he is definitely more attacking than defensive but not really skilful or creative enough to pin down that role. other than that he has the presence, movement and strength to thrive in the premiership.
saw most of his games in the ACN and liked him then actually; energetic, neat on the ball, range of passing hard to determine on those ACN pitches though so i'm not sure about that...he made a lot of stuff happen for cameroon i thought in that tournament
also liked alexandre song in that midfield during the ACN...perhaps we could shine a laser pen in wengers eyes and nip in for that lad while he's temporarily blinded!!
Same here. He impressed me at the ACN.

cyber thugging isnt really funny imo. Anyone can just type "f*** you" after a comment.
Fucking "forum-hopping" or whatever you want to call it isn't funny either...

NEWCASTLE UNITED are believed to be in early discussions with Cameroon midfielder Achille Emana over a potential move to St Jamess Park.
The 25-year-old is also being tracked by Seville, Real Betis and West Ham, while Portsmouth have been alerted by the players advisor Sebastien Thiery.
Emana is currently contracted to French club Toulouse until 2011, but after the Ligue 1 outfit scraped to a disappointing 17th-place finish, in a season when they expected to build on Champions League qualification the previous year, Emana wants to quit France in favour of a move to Spain or England.
Former Valencia youth product Emana could be available for as little as £5.5m and would join his Cameroon team-mate Geremi at Gallowgate.
The players advisor Thiery says: Achille is ready to play in the Premier League and Newcastle is a team he would relish playing for.
He is strong and is a box-to-box midfielder who also possesses a lot of pace.
He has the right number of caps and the right amount of experience at 25 not to be overawed by the Premier League, which would be an exciting challenge.
Emanas international experience includes selection at both the 2006 and 2008 African Cup of Nations tournaments, and he played alongside Toon star Geremi in this years final, which culminated in a narrow 1-0 defeat by Egypt.
United manager Kevin Keegan is thought to be keen to bolster his defence first and foremost this summer, but that fact that there is a question mark over exactly when Joey Barton will be back at Newcastles Benton HQ means that the Magpies could start the season short-handed in the midfield engine room.
United would be likely to consult their current African contingent Oba Martins, Abdoulaye Faye, Habib Beye and Geremi over the players character.
But while the player would love to move to Tyneside, there are still plenty of twists and turns likely to be lying ahead for the Magpies.
United are considering an extensive list of players and chairman Chris Mort is yet to complete a hand-over to his successor.
That is likely to be former London gambling club owner Derek Llambias, but the Chronicle understands that an announcement on the new structure at boardroom level is not imminent.
Meanwhile, another player that United have been alerted about is French international right-back Sidney Govou.
Govou has played almost 300 games for Lyon and has 31 caps and seven goals for his country.
Yet with United well served in that position due to Habib Beyes sparkling performances last term, a move for Govou is unlikely.
Its also understood 28-year-old Govou is interesting Portsmouth who can offer European football following their FA Cup final win over Cardiff.
Emana impressed me at the ACN... (but so did Geremi :-))
watching videos on the ever reliable youtube. looks average to me with poor ball control.
Luque was KING there...remember? :-)

Fair play to him tbh. Some of the hate he gets on here is far too over the top.
Exactly my thoughts. I wish our players were half as committed to the club as he is to Chelsea.
And yes he didn't have to write the letter but he did and that speaks volumes.
Remember Chelsea bought his committment for £130k pw.
Good Point! :-)

Haven't kept up to date with this thread. Is there a particular reason for why it's reached 19 pages? Any developments?
Interest from Spurs
Apparently, Spurs have bid 13M
yep, a spurs fan, who may not be my friend for much longer sent me this http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/1157/picture1ea7.png
Wouldn't it be great if he turns down the bigger Spurs offer to sign for the Toon? Revenge is what I am dreaming of... :-(

There's no doubt he's a moany fecker but he has actually got a point.
If you sign for a club on the promise that you will play as a striker in a 4-4-2 formation, yet every time you play it's off the bench and out of position in a 4-5-1, how can you expect the guy to be happy? He's basically been lied to.
but then again he was just stupid to sign for Chelski. So it is probably his own fault. Would still like to see him at SJP in b/w... :-)

true...

I can understand not wanting to take one out of lack of nerves or confidence, but this is just out of spite
Back to his old tricks.
As soon as he signed for Chelski, it was clear for me, that he will become sulky again... Doesn't like to play the 2nd fiddle.

i think alot of people will be suprised by the fact that colin kazim-richards is most likely going to make it in to turkeys euro 2008 team.
Eh?
-
Why don't the both of you just shut up.
Completely agree. Looks like the answer... :-)))
-
Arshavin = Quality - if people don't think that now wait until after the European Championships.
This is exactly the type of player we should be trying to sign and quite frankly if we are not interested then it doesn't bode well for the future.
Completely agree. Looks like the answer...

whenever any player moves to a club that isn't spurs does it mean he has turned spurs down ?
Yes, ask MJ

The problem is that in Europe Rangers have been playing with an 8 man defence. Even Weir has looked good in that set up. I'd much prefer Dunne.
We could have won something during Sir Bobby's days if we had Weir. Even now, an aging Weir would be value add to us. Rather Taylor plays like the current Weir rather than like himself.
What does your Mrs think of Weir??? :-)
-
why don't you bugger off and let your Mrs on to the forum ?
he meant goal posts. you know what he was likegomis too big for us? What a joke!
Low door frames at the training ground, I hear.
nah, bobby said we had the best door frames in the league
It was a few years ago now though.
We may have bigger door frames than most clubs, but other clubs have better door handles these days. Its a catch up scenario for us again I'm afraid
Spot on. My wife was saying if the Arsenal or even Spurs are rumoured to be interested in him, he will make noises to force the club to accept the move. As for us, he is just not interested. He has a reputation of being a confident and sometimes quite difficult character. To deviate slightly, my wife's words did make me wonder on the rumoured Turan and Dunne moves, if we are considered attractive propositions, am sure the transfers would have gathered paced substantially with the players expressing their wishes to move to the clubs. As like my missus say, we are both supporting clubs of dwindling reputations.
:-)

They got at least one thing wrong, he wasn't paid by the hour as he had a 12 month salaried contract reported to be worth £1 million. Mort was on roughly a third of what Smith earned yet scored the same number of goals and was only about 2 shots on target behind him.
If we'd had Mort in midfield we'd probably have won the fair play league & qualified for europe as a result
:-)

From a totally footballing perspective I don't see why anyone would ever want Chelsea to win. They are very Germanic and robotic in their approach and rather than play an attacking brand of football and carve out chance after chance they prefer to grind teams down and win in a power approach. Man Utd rightfully won the premier league and did so in an attractive and attacking manner. For the good of football I hope they win playing the same style tonight!
Thank you mister. Very good post...

Nasri supposed to be having a medical for Arsenal this afternoon.
Ahh. Reading this all over atm.
Im so happy.
Quality player when ive seen him play has impressed.
Ben Arfa, Yaya Toure and Richards in now and im happy
Where would Ben Arfa fit in?
Somewhere between Woodgate and Dawson as he bangs in the goals
:-))))

If i had to put money on it I think I'd back Portugal. Pretty open tournament this year though. Spain, France, Italy, & Germany could all win it.
What about the guy in your avatar??? ;-)
