So sad to see him getting worse and worse!

That's a really good idea doing something football/training related to raise some funds for the club. I know penalty shoot-out competitions always go down well for raising money.

He's on the over of tomorrow's programme: http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20100910/towering-programme-for-blackpool-visit_2281670_2149684 Biggest selling programme ever?

Have you got your assessment sorted out yet? If you need any help and or advice for any of it, just let me know

I think it must have been mainly in the summer. It is all a new course and I know Durham had 3 different ones on. Really wish i'd done the one two days in July and then two days in August now. Will have to keep a look out and if nothing is announced soon i'll check with Durham when I go on my level 3 day in October.

Thanks guys! I'm still hoping to be in my seat for 3 or at worst a little bit after, will involve some fast driving to get to Heworth for the metro!

Bit of a random question, but does anyone know how long the turnstiles are kept open after kick off on a match day? I have a slight problem that on Saturday I might not be able to make it for 3pm due to coaching in the morning. But after missing the Villa game due to playing, I really don't want to give my season ticket to someone else again. So if anyone can help me out, will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks guys! Now I just need a full time job in football and that will be me even happier! Applied for the football development officer with Northumberland FA so will have to keep my fingers crossed that I get an interview for that. I've been trying to get on the FA Youth Module 1 course but neither Durham or Northumberland have any more planned for this year!

Can't be any worse really. Wonder what time the launch will be then . . .

Very interesting questions and opening up for a debate Chris . I've always been very focused on the technical aspects of coaching, especially with younger players to get them into good habits and an attempt for them to naturally do certain things. (Receiving on the back foot for example). I find it important to know about all different areas of the game, afterall each player on the pitch doing something impacts on each and ever other player in someway so high knowledge for each unit really does help. Goalkeeping - it is still really benefical to know the basics. On level 2 and level 3 a small bit of time is focused on involving your goalkeeper more in the sessions rather than sending them off to work together to alone with someone else, bringing them back for a phase/function or ssg instead of just the game at the end. I try to used guided discovery as a coaching method, and give the players time to adapt and attempt to work it out for themselves in some sessions if it does not work straight away. As often you have to repeat a few times before they properly understand what the session is all about. However, if they cannot get it at all a more command style has to be used at times. It all depends on the type of session and age of the players. I have had some good news with regards to my coaching over the past couple of weeks, I am now working as a coach for Sunderland Girls Centre of Excellence. Which I started last week working with the u14s. Loving it so far!

Great news! Cannot wait to see him in a black and white shirt

Have you had a chance to look through it yet Chris? Its a great coaching tool!

Can't believe it has been 1 year already. Still miss you Sir Bobby!!! RIP x x x

I will be there!

That is the plan, with having my Sport Science degree and then working towards my level 3. The US was a good experience last year, but a job in football here would be brilliant and my main aim. I bought mine online, I'll find it again later.

You have to get your own. When I done my level 2 course the wipe boards we're just starting to be phased in. I didn't use them on that course or on my final assessment (some people did). But now i've done my level 3 course I have bought a board, as you can fail your level 3 for not having the visual aids. So I have to get used to coaching using the set up in the wipe board and explaining it. Another thing is the 4 corner model, they are big on that too! Even if you don't do that normally in training sessions for your assessment just having a few points on it for your topic would be an added bonus to the assessor.
-
Make sure you know exactly what your topic requires in the session, as a few people when I done my level 2 assessment last year struggled with that. They ended up coaching a totally different topic to the one they were actually given. I no the level 2 pass rate isn't too high. But I passed mine first time and I am pretty sure only 3 people failed on the assessment day I was on. Another tip is to use the wipe boards as the Fa seem to be really pushing the visual aids before the sessions.

Haha, that is very true! I was at a talk in a couple of months ago, he apologised to me when I had my photo taken with him!

Everyone is getting a new card, the old ones will be invalid.
-
I shall be in my seat But I still don't get why the club don't half the prices for these pre-season friendlies, as in theory half price twice as many people same amount they get on the tickets. Yet will have more money overall with programmes, food etc.

Got mine yesterday, was rather surprised when I saw it was blue!
-
No problem guys. I'll take a few pictures from inside the book. On talk sport at the moment the whole management/coaching structure is coming under fire because of the England U19's against Spain.

I was pleased when I heard about this, but it was leaked the other day in the Sunday Sun. Beardsley seems to be well respected around the club and always seemed to know a lot. It does bring up the questions of who is left coaching in the academy now as a lot of movement seems to have been going on.
