Cacau was woeful against Ghana, he's no loss at all with Klose coming back. The big one for Germany is Schweinsteiger. So much of what they do starts with him, if he's out or not at his most effective then that's a really big boost for England because I'm not sure the Germans can replace what he brings to the team.

Aye, taking a penalty in a shootout is all about bottle and whether you've got the stones for it at the time. Impossible to really say what would happen, as a general rule I wouldn't fancy taking on the Germans at them though. Just having a think about it though, the odds are that to win a World Cup you will have to win a penalty shootout somewhere along the way. Of the last 5 winners, only 1 hasn't had to face a penalty shootout somewhere along the way.

I thought we created a shedload of chances and only poor finishing and some terrific goalkeeping stopped us winning the group. The Germans won't do what the other three sides have and put men behind the ball and that will suit us down to the ground. I actually agree that you'll be better suited to playing against teams that will take the game to you a bit more, but you still looked hopeless in the middle of the field at times and gave the ball away cheaply far too often (Barry being the main culprit). Slovenia couldn't take advantage of it because they're rubbish, the Germans though have the players to make much more of those errors.

Got to agree with Bluf. Maybe I watched a different game yesterday when you played Slovenia? Yes it was better than against Algeria, but you still struggled to put much of note together and ended up beating a very poor team 1-0 without looking particularly great. By all means be optimistic, I actually think you'll beat the Germans if you get your act together and start playing like you're capable of. But if you play like you have so far in the tournament you'll probably get your arses handed to you tbh.

Really? One absolutely top quality performance against the Aussies, and a win against a good Ghana side despite playing the entire game with Cacau up front. Also should have gotten something against Serbia despite wrongly being reduced to 10 men early on. Don't get me wrong I think England have every chance of beating Germany, your defence is solid and I think theirs might just be a bit suspect. But you'll need your attacking players to play a lot better than they have done so far and hope your defence holds up against some better opposition. Just don't see how anyone could say that Germany have looked shit so far, especially considering they've been without Klose for such extended periods of time.

They're really good until they get into the final third of the field. They've no quality whatsoever in and around the box though. Can't believe that one of Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana and the USA are going to be in the semi-final of the World Cup.
