Mmm... The same s*** team who got a great 1-0 win at Everton and have since been took over by a new owner and have signed Barton SWP and Ferdinand... Not saying they ate worldbeaters but let's not get carried away... Classic NUFC banana skin awaiting us in front of the watching millions... I think we need to remember that despite the results we have been over run for large periods in all 4 games this season... Would love to say I don't have your fear as well, but, no, have it in spades. Barton is bound to have a major impact on the game as well. Just hope to God that it's the 'have fight with Taraabt and both get sent off' kind, rather than the 'sets up two, then scores the third' kind. I'm reckoning a red card myself. Although another possibility is he is almost anonymous. That would do too. I just have this feeling that Barton and SWP will be totally underwhelming and our midfield will be fizzing all around them. I think a sneaky away win is definitely possible.

In all likelihood, the lad won't even be starting. A cameo appearance from the bench is more likely.

The cup game will probably offer a little more for him...not as good competition as the league, but will be higher pace and more important than a reserve game. Then again, lower league teams have a tendancy to tackle harder... It is sure... If you are easily winning the game, i could see HBA coming from the bench for the last 20 minutes. If you struggle in that match, then no need to risk him... I really hope this is the case but knowing us, we'll struggle.... Yes, maybe like you did against Scunthorpe (?)... which is quite understandable considering cup matches aren't exactly the same as those of the premier league. But i really think, if your team stay 'inuryless" that you coud do something good, why not winning the Cup ? Last season, Birmingham City won it so you could do it... By the way, when was the last NUFC trophee ? I just can't imagine what the reactions over here would be if you win trophees again. Well that's the hope anyway. I, for one, would love for us to go on a cup run and like you've said, Birmingham did it last season so I don't see why we shouldn't aim for the cups. In terms of our last trophy, our last domestic one was when we won the Championship in the promotion season [2009-2010] (if that counts, otherwise it was the FA Cup in 1955). Our last major trophy was in 1969 when we won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (what is now the Europa League).

With Pardew re-iterating that he has no part in negotiations and finances he probably doesn't know himself what happened. How that particular deal could break down on finances is almost impossible to comprehend - they'd already accepted a bid from Fulham so we just had to match that. Offering any amount less means we weren't serious about making a bid and all this talk of helicopters is what? A diversion, an facade, a p*ss-take? And if we were making a genuine approach, why wait until a couple of hours left on the last day? Mind boggling.... The Ruiz bid was definitely knee-jerk like (imo anyway).
