  1. Who's the co-commentator here? He's class imo, always calling things as he sees them.
  2. That's why Rio is not the best in the world for me. Once a ball watcher always a ball watcher.
  3. Some of them are eyeing lucrative moves probably.
  4. I'd sell in the summer personally. The main reason is because he doesn't seem to be able to put in a decent slide tackle or last ditch lunge - at all. That is his biggest weakness by far for me. It means that if he makes the smallest of mistakes, he's not going to attone for them before he's punished. Ever. Come to think of it, has he made one good recovery challenge since coming here where he's either flung himself at the ball or slid in to make up an extra yard or two? I can't recall any. I only seem to recall that no matter the situation, he'll almost always stay on his feet, and at best should there be a real threat or danger, he'll do something useless like the splits or try to poke a toe at the ball as it's going past him. His best defensive moments with us from earlier on in the season were when one-on-one with an opposition attacker and he managed to read which way they're going and stab the ball away from them. But that's totally different to being able to make up that extra yard or two with a well timed, well anticipated slide tackle or last ditch lunge. If he can't go to ground, then he needs to be extremely good in other areas, which obviously isn't the case. And if Jonas doesn't like Colo being sold, then Jonas needs to be told that we don't all get what we want. The spoilt fairy.
  5. Gray is really pinning for Arsenal here.
  6. Arshavin, 4 goals. Fuck me, what a player. What a game.
  7. Never a foul on Benayoun, he nearly nutted the guy's nuts with his head.
  8. NUFC non-hesitant manager/chairman attacking lineup: Torres Arshavin Benayoun Modric
  9. Fucking quality goal from Torres. My word this is an amazing match. 3-3.
  10. Arshavin hattrick! Good finish. Terrible defending of NUFC proportions by Liverpool.
  11. Arshavin is fucking amazing. That's all.
  12. Mascherano is having a storming game imo.
  13. Bendtner clearly not wanting to give Arshavin the chance to shine there.

    Home form

Looking at previous form is irrelevant imo because of our injury problems and the return to near fitness of several key players. Touch wood, and unless I'm not mistaken, this will be the first time this season we'll have had the attacking trio of Viduka, Martins and Owen all fit and available at the same time.
  15. Think everyone knows/agrees that Beye is a decent to good defender, but as he's technically playing out of position, it's simply worth noting that this was yet another convincing performance at centreback (imo). Personally, I'm sold on him being a centreback full time, he just slots in so nicely alongside either Bassong or Taylor, and given how we've struggled to find an experienced, reliable player for that position down the years, moving him across seems to be a perfectly natural and logical decision. Would also allow us to cash in on Coloccini and use the proceeds to buy a decent right back. It's also nice to finally have a no-nonsense defender in the middle, especially when our current options, Bassong, Coloccini and Taylor, are all far from reliable when it comes to not giving away cheap fouls, loose balls or getting caught in possession. If Beye's under pressure, he'll lump it, if there's any danger, he'll clear it for a throw, if there's noone to pass to, it's goes back straight to the keeper. Everyone makes mistakes no doubt, but he's someone who you don't see giving away a cheap goal because of a bad decision. Will be interesting to see what happens if/when we do stay up. Do we: 1) Keep Beye at centreback and sign a specialist right back (easiest option imo, with the most reliable defender in the squad playing in a key position), or 2) Sign another centreback/rely on Taylor/Coloccini and move Beye back to the right (harder option as we're relying on someone else to "come good" in the most important defensive position)? Tough call.
  16. 3 relegation spots, West Brom will take one for certain. The remaining two spots are going to go to either us, Boro, Blackburn, or Hull imo. And there's a 4 point gap between us and Blackburn/Hull. Things look very bleak If we can play Owen, Martins and Viduka up front from now till the end of the season, we have a good chance. If Martins or Viduka pick up an injury, then we're down.
  17. Owen has to be played in midfield from now on. We'll go down with him up front, pretty sure of that. In terms of our options: Partner him with Viduka and we'll have no pace, penetration, or running power up front. Bread and butter for Premiership defences, who'll push up at will, safe in the knowledge that noone is going to get in behind them. Partner him with Martins and we'll have noone who can hold a ball up against big, strong Premiership defenders. Owen is a weakling and Martins' touch and reading of his teammates' intentions when playing with his back to goal is usually poor. Really, really must play in midfield, and it looks like Shearer knows this, so here's hoping.
  18. Guthrie and Geremi can both pick a pass and keep possession to a half decent standard. but they're not big, hard lads or loud voices in the dressing room and dont crack enough jokes on the training ground to get into the team. There is bullshit Geremi shouldnt be near our team, will offer us the equivalent as R Taylor contribution but only in midfield. Where we are already slow and weak. Guthrie is returning from injury he should of played at least 2nd half, but Shearer gambled with Strikers. Geremi has a good first touch and the ability to put a good pass or cross in. Yeah, he's slow and he's a bit like Butt at times with his sloppy passing, but he's a better player than he's being given credit for imo.
