  1. I'm aware of what happens when senior staff are finished they usually get a pay-off, mostly because the company doesn't want news of the sacking to get out as they look stupid by association so it's as much a gagging pay-off. For instance, they have allowed a situation to occur which allows the senior staff member to do whatever he's done. I also know of senior staff who have been peddled with nothing because what they did was beyond doubt and couldn't be kept in-house. One of the videos shows Meyler's head getting knocked backwards when Pardew makes contact, the lack of injuries don't prove no violence. Bringing the name of the club into disrepute is beyond doubt, just look at the articles in here and that's a fraction of what's going around tonight. Everyone of them mentions the name of the football club and the news is literally going around the globe. I know you're not condoning what he's done so don't worry about that.
  2. Piss off with the crossword references.
  3. It stays within the club, so it could be £100k they were going to get anyway.
  4. What happens elsewhere has no bearing on our club when it comes to discipline as we have no say in how other clubs are run. Gross misconduct is clearly laid out by ACAS and ACAS are used as the benchmark on how to carry out disciplinary processes. ACAS list some forms of Gross Misconduct, but not all, violence and bringing the club (in our case) into disrepute are both listed.
  5. Bollocks would the club have a problem of winning a case, they would only have to produce press clippings to prove that he's brought the club into serious disrepute, what other managers have done is irrelevant as our club has no control over other managers and what other clubs do. I'm not bound to let somebody off just because another company does nothing about a certain offence. If Pardew had somebody saying he was just posturing the club would only have to show the BBC footage and the case would be over.
  6. Who said anything about them not following procedure? They couldn't have sacked him last night but they've rushed it through as a face saving exercise and the fine is as transparent as mud. I would expect every contract to allow for a sacking for Gross Misconduct, sticking a head on anybody will fall into that category. All the club would have had to do was issue him with a letter inviting him to a disciplinary hearing and make it clear that the offence was being considered as Gross Misconduct. They would have had to tell him what he was being interviewed about and state what evidence they had and give him enough time to put his defence together and allow him to be accompanied by a witness. A fact finding investigation wouldn't be necessary as the evidence was broadcast across the globe although the club could have held an unnecessary investigation first. A fact finding investigation isn't necessary when the evidence is plastered all over your TV. I know exactly was has to be done as I've had to do it plenty of times and I'm yet to have anybody win a case against me.
  7. It would have been perfectly acceptable and we would have all played it down. In fact we would have all been writing to the FA asking them to limit any punishment.
  8. Not necessarily fully behind him, a formal warning is a first step on the ladder if you want a watertight and no compensation dismissal. Of course he's fully behind him, he was gifted a sacking without compensation and he's passed on it and I doubt he'll ever get that opportunity again.
  9. The FA will not alter the clubs decision unless they say he can't manage. The only thing which could alter his club punishment would be new evidence and as they've probably seen what happened I think he's got off with it.
  10. Stuck in traffic near Wembley.
  11. I hope that a manager nutting a player or anyone else for that matter never becomes acceptable, played down or normal.
  12. I agree about the game going soft, it's gone far too far when a manager can no longer nut an opposition player and something needs to change quick.

    Sunderland

6th now, could go to 7th depending on the FA Cup.
  14. Meyler shouldn't have or needed to push Pardew. I am not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me. Both, Pardew should have got out of the way and Meyler shouldn't have pushed him. The technical area isn't to allow managers to get in the way of the game, it's to allow them to give instructions only.
  15. Meyler shouldn't have or needed to push Pardew.
  16. Has anyone said what he did was right? Probably not but plenty are playing it down and making it look as if we're being picked on for no reason.
  17. True, nobody is saying that Pardew tried to cave his face in.
  18. Have you only watched it in slow motion? No, seen it many times. It was f*** all. Can't believe anyone thinks otherwise. You're spot on IMO. That automatically means he's wrong.
  19. A few minutes ago Villa were 2-1 up, now they're 4-1 up so it doesn't look good for Norwich and Hughton.
  20. Have you only watched it in slow motion?
  21. All Pardew had to do was get out of the way of the player and nothing would have happened and we would be celebrating a good performance and 3 points instead of the clubs name being dragged through the mud again.
  22. They will have a disciplinary procedure which probably has 3 stages before the sack, a verbal warning, written and final written warning. He could have been disciplined at any stage because of the severity of the offence, he could have been peddled for gross misconduct. If he's been given a warning he would have to do something else to get sacked so it's not really easier to sack him and the warning will only last for so long.
  23. The two situations are different, the player was running for the ball and pushed Pardew. Pardew pushed the linesman for no reason other than he felt like it.
  24. I've seen somebody get arrested for breach of the peace because he was arguing with somebody in public, he didn't even put a finger on the other person but was found guilty of it at court.
