Where was Taylor?
-
To be fair to him on the goal he was tracking the run of the player then the ball was played inside of him and he couldn't change his run in time.
-
I don't think he was saying that, you're doing well tonight.
-
We've only got Kinnear because nobody else wanted it, maybe we're asking too much of him and should settle for the points regardless of how poorly we play. I'd still rather have Kinnear and the points than what we had for a few games before he arrived, he has improved us, even if it's not as much as we would all like.
-
That was the first laugh I've had all day so don't try to get out of it. You're right about the importance of the 3 points, it's all that really matters tonight and I'd settle for a few more games like that if we get 3 points every time.
-
I thought they played good football and expect to see a lot worse than them, they would be a good team if they had something up front.
-
We only looked short of confidence once we sat back though, we need a good win to lift the players and could have got more than the 3 points tonight if we kept at them.
-
The game was won in the first half and we should have capitalised on that in the second half but we didn't, we could have won easily tonight and got a real lift from it but we let them back into it and we'll know that we've done that in our next game. The 3 points are the most important thing that we could have got but the confidence boost that we could have got from an easier win just didn't happen and we could pay for that. Time will tell but I think we’ll know if that’s the case fairly soon.

That's exactly what I'm on about and why I said he offered nothing, the whole point of a player in his position is to set players up with scoring chances, he doesn't do that though, he's so frustrating.
-
We had more to lose by taking that attitude than we would have done going forwards, I never felt at any stage that they could score yet they managed it.
-
It will be the same wankers who gave Robert stick and started on Luque during his home debut.
-
Duff didn't help, for all of his running tonight, which to be fair he did, his impact on the game was nil on an attacking front and I'm sure he gave the ball away for the goal.
-
Martins once again spent too much time on the left wing, leaving the plank on his own in the middle..
-
Agreed, I still can't work out what benefit we were getting from sitting back again, it was doing my head in.
-
We were lucky to get a win tonight against a team who could pass but had nothing at either end and he made some of the strangest substitutions I've seen for a long time, I'll not praise him for that.
-
We would have gained more confidence if we'd gone at them in the second half than we will have from sitting back and letting them come at us, we gave them the goal because if we had put them under some pressure I couldn't see them scoring. Did Duff gift them the ball which they then played forward to wrong foot Coloccini?

Shola is a frustratingly poor footballer, I wish somebody would take him to one side and explain the offside rules to him, it's like watching a 10 year old struggling to learn what is and what isn't allowed.

We were put on the back foot by a team who passed well but had nothing up front, I think I saw Kinnear once and he was telling our players to get back when we should have been putting West Brom under pressure. The sub's came on too late and were puzzling to say the least, I'm not sure that I would have called any of them right before they happened. If we attacked them the way we should have then 4 or 5 goals were possible, instead we did the same as we did against Man City and the mackems, we sat back and invited them onto us. We were lucky that these were s*** up front, if it wasn't for that we would probably have lost.
-
3-0 to us, at least I hope it is as it's going to be a cold night.

If he can't find a buyer then the fans will have a big part to play in the rest of our season.
-
I know it was one result and that Milner has gone but I think the manager going is the biggest difference and will have more effect on our results than anything else. I still think we're better than most teams and squads at the bottom of the league, I'm not sure that I can say the same about our manager and I'd be surprised if you could say that he is, I know that you haven't said it. I've always said that Kinnear is better than what we had after Keegan left the club, that doesn't make him any better than that. The instability isn't helping anybody either but for now that's what we have to deal with.
-
The point is, I do think it will come down to the manager amongst other things. We went to Man U with the manager in place, no turmoil and got a result with a team that could play most of our games if they were picked. If they are good enough to get a result at Old Trafford then they are good enough to get a result against most teams. We did that without the players who would be classed as injury prone, Viduka and Owen were both missing.
-
I can't see any connection, Mirandinha came the season before we beat Liverpool, I would have thought Gazza going and his replacements had more to do with us getting relegated. We finished 8th in Mirandinha's first season, the first season without Beardsley but with Gazza. What he's said proves that you can get a result at the top team and still go down, that's not in dispute. That season could just as easily be put down to the manager influencing events because McFaul spent money on players who were highly regarded but they didn't play well together.
-
We got a draw at Man U while playing Given, Beye, N'Zogbia, Taylor, Coloccini, Butt, Milner, Guthrie, Gutierrez, Martins & Duff. I don't see too many injury prone players who played and got a result against the best team in the league, the manager will play a big part in how our season goes but the lack of stability since that result could play a bigger part.

In the summer of 2004 we made a profit of £7 million when we needed a replacement for Woodgate and we lost Gary Speed, we ended up making a profit and sacking the manager.
