  1. Newcastle United FC Managerial Shopping List. 1. Redknapp - Excellent so we'll go for him. 2. Hughes (random name)- Shite but will do as 2nd choice. 3. Mourinho (random name)- Shite but will do as 3rd choice. 4. Lippi (random name)- Shite but will do as 4th choice. I doubt Mort and Ashley will look at it that way.

Agreed, they're getting slaughtered before they've appointed anybody, it doesn't make sense, it's not as if they've got a track-record of appointing shite.
  3. Long term the timing shouldn't matter but it will for this season as whoever comes in will have the handicap of working with what he's got, assuming something doesn't happen in the next day or two. Getting the right man is more important than giving him the window, I agree, long term.
  4. I think I know who will win if we are successful and somebody brings Redknapp up. I'm expecting that over time it will come out that Mort made the decision to sack and will do the appointing, or at least fully agreed, if that's not the case then he shouldn't be doing the job.
  5. I think I've already said this is the wrong time, too soon or too late. Like you I have no idea what was behind the sacking, your guess above could be right, it could also be wrong. In reality, I do think something has triggered the sacking and it may be for the reason you've mentioned, we'll have to wait and see. If that was the case then they haven't had a lot of time to sound possible candidates out.
  6. The timing is wrong, they should have made a decision earlier if his future was in doubt or left it until the end of the season. Half of the transfer window has almost gone and we have problems which need sorting with the team.
  7. They should have either sacked Allardyce earlier or waited until the summer.
  8. If this turns to shit I'll slate them, not before hand.
  9. If the next manager is a success I'll not give Redknapp a second thought. I think they sacked Allardyce because they supported a manager that they hadn't chosen themselves but wanted to give him the opportunity to show what he could do. The football was shite and the results were just as bad so they made a decision to get rid of him, a decision which has probably been made at the wrong time due to the transfer window firstly and managers being mid-season secondly. Did you expect a lawyer chairman to tap somebody up? I didn't.
  10. I'll agree if we end up with a Souness or Roeder but will wait to see who we get. If they get somebody better it will not be down to luck unless they put a load of names into a hat and go for whoever comes out first.
  11. The timing is poor, the new person will not have much time to put things right with the team and we might end up going for players in panic mode.
  12. Second choice doesn't make somebody worse, it just makes them second choice for a reason we don't know.
  13. This is a fiasco because we've been turned down by one person that we know of, I doubt it.
  14. I don't see how they've failed this "test" yet as we haven't appointed anybody yet.

I'll make that judgement once we know who we've got. Redknapp wasn't as bad as some make out, I can understand why they went for him, I don't assume that the second choice is worse than the first either.

Spot on, nobody has a clue, we might as well just wait and see what happens.
  17. Maybe it was the arrogance of thinking money gets them anybody they want.
  18. Rubbish, they wanted Redknapp for the job he's done as Portsmouth, he's actually done a good job. They will look at other options, options which could be better in the end than what they were originally looking for.
  19. No way, just like everybody when going for a new job, the offer put in front of you is all that matters.
  20. Don't talk daft, no potential manager is going to worry who was asked first, if they want the job they'll take it.
